[9.0] "Jonathan Gresham is the kind of wrestler who proves that big things come in small, highly technical packages. At just 5'4", he doesn't climb to the top rope--he climbs into your brain, tangling it up with grappling techniques so intricate, they should come with a flowchart. If wrestling were a chess game, Gresham would be the grandmaster, and you'd be stuck trying to remember how the horsey moves."

[8.0] "Gresham is definitely when discussing Technical Wreslter is one of the underrated one IMO, he's ability to blend technical style, use of aerial moves and recently adding some strikes on top of his muscular physique despite his height in there are impressive! checking out some of his matches you can see how well he is in-ring and ability to exude emotions & think tactical is good. However, he seems to be okay on the promo-side of things and seen some glimpse of his character is alright as well which will take more refining. Overall still a big fan of Gresham and which the best in his path!"

[7.0] "I think Gresham is a good wrestler. His technical wrestling skills are top notch although there are other areas of his game he can improve. The way he builds and paces his matches could be improved to better highlight his style. His promos and character work are passable, but he is not the strongest in that area."

[10.0] "Gresham is an excellent wrestler. Been very good for a long time but found a groove the last 2 yrs of the original ROH and it's carried over now that he's in Impact Wrestling. As good as any technical grappler in the business right now with some good aerial ability and very strong so he can do any kind of match."
Bullshark1 wrote on 29.01.2023:
[7.0] "Jonathon Gresham is a great technical wrestler, but that's about it. He has a good entrance, and is good in the ring, but his promo work sucks, and eventually, I do get bored of him if the match takes too long (although that's my position for technical wrestling in general). Gresham built ROH, so it was sad to see him leave, but I think he'll find a good home in Impact. Better yet, he goes to NJPW and heads overseas to Japan again. That's best-case scenario."

[5.0] "I have a several pieces of contention with Gresham. His style of technical wrestling just is not entertaining to watch. His matches plod on more often than not and I can't point to a top tier Gresham match to save my life. I also don't care for his mic work and character, both are very bland beyond the giant octopus mask he wears that gives him all of his intrigue. Size isn't the problem with why people don't see Gresham as a top wrestler (no matter how much he may make it out to be the case), the problem is instead a high proficiency and work rate in a style that can be entertaining but simply isn't when Gresham does it. He's only as high as he is because he has great conditioning and could serve as an excellent technical coach later in life."

[6.0] "Let me preface this rating by saying I love technical wrestling, I like the counters with hold for holds and all those crazy submissions these dudes do. I do not think Jonathan Gresham is an entertaining technical wrestler. Now I'm not saying he's a bad technical wrestler by any stretch of the imagination, he's very good at holds but that's about it. He's got terrible pacing issues, where a lot of parts in his matches feel slow, and not in the sense of a cool submission being done, but more like he's just sitting on a a dude in an armbar. I think people also forget that he does alot of lucha libre too which I would love to see more of that being his dominant style over the technical stuff because he'd probably be super creative with that. All in all, he's a good technician but he doesn't put on exciting matches, so I'm not going to be very hyped up to see him wrestle."
Prince DY8 wrote on 25.07.2022:
[6.0] "Gresham is good wrestler but I think he is a little bit overrated. Most of the wrestling fans thinks he is the future great star of wrestling. I don't think so. In my opinion he is good wrestler but not the best."

[7.0] "Gresham is a strange one, he is a great wrestler who very very rarely has great wrestling matches. His resume is not strong despite the fact I enjoy his work"
Reinhard Lohengramm wrote on 25.07.2022:
[5.0] "I've never understood the hype with Gresham. I've watch a fair amount of his ROH work along with his entire NJPW run and I just feel bored every time. In the 2019 BOSJ, he was by a far margin the least interesting competitor. Sure, not everyone there was an amazing wrestler but they at least had some charisma or charm to them. Gresham has just been a charisma vacuum everywhere I see him. He wrestles like a robot. Compared to other technical wrestlers, his offense feels really soft and his set-ups feel hokey to me."

texasyosh wrote on 24.07.2022:
[5.0] "Gresham will always be locked into a box no matter what promotion he's in. I don't see him ever really making it in a major, national promotion, and it's not because he's a short guy. He's a competent wrestler but he brings absolutely nothing else to the table. And to me, I don't see Gresham as a top-class technical wrestler."
AndoCommando wrote on 31.10.2021:
[9.0] "When you look at his output this year and what feats he has accomplished, it's safe to call Jonathan Gresham the best working wrestler in the world, and I don't think anyone else really comes close. I think a Danielson comparison is apt, because the common talking point about him finishing matches with a different move since coming to AEW is impressive. It would be far more impressive however, had Gresham not already been doing this all year round, across every promotion he's worked for, against a greater variety of opponents. This doesn't include how often he's built common wrestling tropes into viable finishes under singles, tag, pure rules and multi-man match settings. All hail the Octopus. Long may he reign."

[10.0] "So straight up this is the best wrestler in the world. Large body of work, can have a great match against anyone regardless of size, age, gender or experience and his matches are so varied. If someone doesn't at least respect Gresham's wrestling, I don't think I can take their opinion seriously."

[8.0] "Good technical wrestler and one of the best Pure Guys on the Roster for RoH. He isn't at the level of Danielson at all, but he's good. If you're into technical matches you'll love Gresham."
Kung wrote on 26.07.2021:
[9.0] "While I can't call him the best technician in the game today because Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. exist, I think The Octopus of Ring of Honor has solidified himself as the third-best technical wrestler going right now. What he lacks in size, he more than makes up with pure ability between the ropes."
StrongStyle2020 wrote on 30.04.2021:
[9.0] "A tremendous wrestler. What does size matter in 2021, when Mayweather, Pacquaio, McGregor and others have shown size means less than it's ever done, and talent should be judged on merit. Technical skills, and submissions superb, he's a great Pure Champion."

[2.0] "I do not get the hype for Jonathan Gresham. Sorry, but he is terrible. He is like 5'2" and is nothing special in the ring. I don't know if he's ever even gone to the top rope and he can't cut a promo. People say he is a good technical wrestler, but I don't see it. He is not a good brawler, not a good high flyer, and just an average technical wrestler. He does some nice submission holds, but that's about it, no counters or reversals. Just a boring wrestler. Absolutely no charisma whatsoever. Don't know what people see in this guy, but I have seen him wrestle maybe 5 times on ROH and none of his matches were good. I watched the Lethal vs. Gresham Ironman match. I didn't care for the match. Thought it was very boring. I just don't get the hype or what people see in Gresham. Probably the most boring wrestler I can think of. The king of rest holds. I don't know if I am missing something, but from what I have seen this guy is terrible and shouldn't be in RoH. So many better wrestlers out there in the indies. I have never cared for any of Jonathan Gresham's matches. He has won the ROH Pure Title, but I just don't get it I guess."

[7.0] "Jonathan Gresham is a wrestler I always enjoy seeing: nothing really fancy, and his matches won't cause Dave Melzer to faint, but he's amazingly consistent in his ability to put on entertaining match after entertaining match for the fans. Very good worker sadly stuck in the slow decline of ROH; hopefully NJPW and/or AEW will be good for him."

While he got some stellar work under his belt in companies like CZW or wXw, he didn't get recognition he deserves. Fingers crossed for ROH getting a grip and starting pushing truly talented individuals like Gresham instead of guys like Adam Cole, or maybe wXw inviting him back to Germany and booking him in similar way they did with David Starr in 2016."
prowrestlingisreal wrote on 20.06.2016:
