[6.0] "Jonathan Coachman carved out a unique role in wrestling as a commentator, interviewer, and occasional in-ring personality. He was never meant to be a top-tier talent, but his mix of humor, timing, and willingness to play the heel made him a fun supporting character. Coach added entertainment value to backstage segments and commentary, and while his in-ring work was limited, he knew his role and played it well throughout his WWE run"

[8.0] "Coachman was kinda underrated at commentary & interviewing, no not the best but still decent. When he was a heel, he played the role well, he definitely got the heat from the audience. He can pretty funny at times, especially his interactions with The Rock are hilarious. I do find it bizarre though that he wasn't better in the ring. I say this because he was supposedly trained by one of the greatest, if not the greatest technical wrestler of all time, Chris Benoit."

I like when he's in the booth and calling it down the middle, that's all fine. His attempts at being a heel? He ranks as one of the most RANK."

[4.0] "Coach was a terrible commentator and was average as an authority figure as he wasn't Mike Adamle bad, but not at the level of Vince, Bischoff, or Heyman in that role. However, he was a good manager, and if only he was a good commentator he could have been their next Bobby Heenan. 4 seems about right, as managing was the thing he did the least in his run, despite that being his best work."

They gave this guy MULTIPLE PPV matches, for reasons which can only be explained by Coach having some kind of blackmail on Vince."

DanTalksRasslin wrote on 26.07.2015:
[6.0] "An adequate play-by-play announcer, Coach really started to shine after turning heel and creating a smarmy jock persona. This made him much more interesting both as a heel color commentator and ancillary on-air character, and he showed the makings of a great heel manager, though sadly was never allowed to really run with that role."

When Coach stepped out from behind the announce table and became part of the action, he at least had the athletic background and brash personality to back it up. Not the greatest announcer ever, but managed to be entertaining no matter if it was play by play or color. ESPN found a good show host in him, but it's WWE's loss."
