"Wow, the crowd sure love that valiant hobo. The start of the match, outside the ring, is pretty fun, with Charlie Brown essentially fighting like a heel. Unfortunately, the rest of the match is mostly drawn out rest holds, although Kabuki jumping off the top rope to, erm, lock on another claw hold made me laugh."

"Feels like a very freaky homeless man snuck into the ring, but was charismatic enough they kept him. He basically shakes his head all the way to the ring, in the ring, every time he's hit with a move, he starts shaking his head wildly. It's not fun to watch honestly. He lacks in-ring abilities, his promos are a bit weird and you get the feeling he's about to have an orgy afterward."

As an adult he's even more off putting and i can not watch his matches whatsoever. I fast forward through his work every time. Ugh, hard pass."

His peaks were the WWWF with Johnny Valiant and AWA Southern Champion in the early to mid 80's as well as Tennessee. He was a late bloomer. I can't believe he is still wrestling at 76. He needs to hang up the boots."

[8.0] "A very entertaining, charismatic man. But alas, he didn't have the greatest in-ring skills, his gimmick eventually got stale in the WWF. But he was entertaining on the mic (I recommend his infamous 1978 promo with Jerry Lawler). Overall, an 8."
Spring Stampede wrote on 25.04.2019:
[8.0] "Most people tend to forget that wrestling is not just about athleticism or movesets; it's about entertainment. Jimmy Valiant was never meant to be a workrate machine, his moveset barely expanded beyond an eye rake, a thumb to the throat and an elbow drop, but he was one of the most charismatic man I've ever seen in the ring and the crowd always responded to him. Sure, some might find his promo style grating and repetitive, as well as his seemingly never-ending feud with Paul Jones' Army, but people forget that while he was feuding with Jones and his goons, he wasn't in contention for any serious titles and it was a feud that was rather entertaining to say the least. Overall, Jimmy Valiant was what you expect a 80s wrestler to be: charismatic, flamboyant, and most importantly, memorable. Tell the ladies Handsome Jimmy is in town."

As his career continued and his beard grew it only got worse and worse. There is a ton of him on the WWE Network with his work in JCP but trust me, once you see one segment with him you will never want to see another."

This isn't to say that he didn't have his fans when he was doing his hippie gimmick. Valiant could come into a territory and get into the main event picture for a few months before the locals got tired of him usually. He certainly wasn't a high spot specialist. His ring work was very old school... but he could sell. He could stage the hot comeback. He was believable. Valiant could draw some money."

[10.0] "Extremely athletic. Handsome Jimmy Valiant is one of a kind. He had the moves, athleticism, mouth, mic skills, personality, you name it. He was billed as hailing from New York City and he looked and acted like it. He was amazing as a heel and a face."
