[6.0] "Yes, Joey is definitely not the most gifted wrestler, but I don't agree with his rating. Most likely because I'm probably the only one who liked this weird Pogo the clown gimmick. His impressive size and timbre of voice in conjunction with gimmick of a sadistic clown made him look like a damn maniac! I just can't hate this bloody creepy guy"

[2.0] "Even in a business like pro wrestling, which has never exactly been known as a bastion of good taste, the "Pogo the Clown" gimmick - based on the clown persona of real-life serial killer John Wayne Gacy - is rather shocking. Most closely associated with the XPW promotion, in the ring Pogo had a surprisingly decent diving splash but otherwise was largely limited to basic hardcore wrestling, and even at that was never able to really become a player in the XPW King of the Deathmatch Title scene, instead largely being used as a shock-value attraction wrestler. On a more positive note, Applebaumer did help to found the rather unique California indy Hoodslam, which is still going strong today, and - fortunately - has, at least for the most part, left the Pogo gimmick behind, instead usually appearing as Joey Nuggs."
