She's able to use her likability to crush her language barrier & her deft ring-work is largely unparalleled on the current women's roster. I don't think I've ever seen her have a bad match & she is capable of adapting to her opponent's style to create great works everytime. Great stuff."

[10.0] "I love IYO SKY, and I had absolutely no doubts when it came to rating her. Whenever she steps into the ring, I feel like I'm watching something distinct--something different from what most other female wrestlers offer. Her moves are incredibly spectacular, and I especially love the moments when she utilizes the turnbuckles or aerial maneuvers. She's capable of pulling off things I'd never expect, and that's exactly what I love most about her. Her persona really appeals to me, too; she possesses a unique energy that instantly commands attention. She doesn't need to talk constantly to be compelling--just seeing her appear on screen tells me things are about to get interesting. On top of that, I really enjoy her tag team work and her interactions with other wrestlers. It's hard for me to find anything about her that actually bothers me. To me, IYO is simply one of the best, which is why I give her a 10/10."

Shortly after joining Stardom, she was falsely accused of drug use and arrested, but used her frustration as motivation to sweep the belts at Stardom. After joining WWE in 2018, she continued to perform in NXT, but in 2022 she changed her name from Io Shirai to Iyo Sky and performed as a heel. However, since around 2024, her skill in matches has been drawing increasing cheers. She is now a top-level attraction at the venue!"

Like maybe the Asuka match, but I don't even think she was the best wrestler in that match as Asuka was. In 2025, she was killing it, but in 2026, her in-ring game has been going down, and maybe it's just because she's not really facing great wrestlers, but damn, she regressed a lot from 2025. Now she's facing Liv again at Summerslam and idc at all for the match."

[10.0] "IYO has only one issue it's the poor quality of her booking, for a long time she really felt like "the friend of" and it's really bad, even now that she's truly alone, they still have that weird angle of her being "the disciple of Asuka". I hope we can finally see a little bit more of her alone. Except for that, she is Top 5 in-ring, over with the crowd and she has good promos."

[7.0] "Io Shirai in 2026 is great example of the dichotomy that is talent vs opportunity. Io without a doubt is talented, one of the best. But in WWE she's like a Michlin 5 star chef being forced to make Big Macs and McFlurries. When I watch Io on WWE main roster, I see nothing special. Sure, you can appreciate her from a technical standpoint (she has one hell of a moonsault). But when she is forced to wrestle the WWE style, where everyone has training wheels put on them and the matches are often formulaic and slow paced with bad finishes, what good is being one of the best in the world, you'll never be able to see it. Io in WWE just feels like everyone else, a common problem with WWE's conservative, passionless approach that is stuck 30 years in the past (at least). The biggest problem Io faces is time. Like most WWE talent, she is never given time. Io since being called up to the main roster has never once, on TV or a PPV, gone 20 minutes or more in a singles match. That sounds impossible but somehow it's true. Sometimes, she barely scratches 10. Hell, she didn't even get a match AT ALL at the recent Wrestlemania. How is the so called "Best Wrestler in the World" supposed to showcase that when there isn't hardly time to get out of first gear? How can all that talent be accurately appraised in through small windows? Which brings me to a few other wrestlers, ones with Cagematch ratings lower than Io but are all in situations that are far freer than the one Io finds herself in. People like Mercedes Mone, Kris Statlander, and Toni Storm just to name a few. All three have had singles matches 20 minutes or longer in their home promotions, and to me all three feel more dynamic and exciting in the ring than Io despite not having as much talent. But again, what good is talent if you aren't allowed to show it off? And conversely, what better way to make up for less raw talent as a performer than being in a great situation? I think Io still has an unbelievable wrestler inside her, and it's not her fault that her company doesn't care about putting on good matches. But as of now, it feels like Io is coasting on reputation. People rate her 10 and say she's AMAZING without being able to fully articulate exactly why they feel that way, while I personally can't think of the last AMAZING match she's had. Through little fault of her own and because of the bad situation she finds herself in, she's sadly more hype than reality."

[10.0] "I don't care that she can't cut promos in english, wrestling has no frontiers to touch people, in ring she is incredible and unbeatable, she's a part of show-stealers at WrestleMania, Evolution and WrestlePalooza, and don't forget her performances in Mexico, Lucha Underground, and of course in Japan, Stardom, and Marigold in 2024 and 2025, in selling she is excellent, she transmit emotions, she has a great gear, and a good entrance and theme song. She is better as a face on my point of view, it looks very natural, she smiles all the time and it's contagious. One of my all-time favorites."

And whilst she's probably not at the very tippy top of the list -- indeed, gun to my head and you asked me to pick the best joshi going right now, I would put Mayu, Syuri, Sareee just above her -- Iyo Sky can at least take a lot of comfort that she is genuinely in the conversation. There's only really one other wrestler on the current WWE roster who is just so effortless in their skill that it's hard for them to have a truly bad match, and that's Gunther. And that, really, is good company to keep. The sad thing is, like Gunther, sometimes she's just so good that they don't know what to do with her; indeed, compare her run as champion of catering whilst Gunther was messing around with Jey and Pat last year, and you'll see why you get disillusioned in a product fast, because they just don't know how to handle her brilliance."

[5.0] "I don't know what happens to Japanese wrestling whenever they sign with this promotion none of them look the same as they were .IYO SKY "Shirai" was absolutely phenomenal when she was in Stardom. I never thought she's as good as Iwatani or Hojo but she's not far off. As soon as she went to the WWE she' just forgot how to wrestle. I know they're trying to push her but boy if she wasn't good in NXT where she can be more free why would she ever be good on the main roster"

She has some of the prettiest aerial moves ever performed and is a fantastic seller. Her body of work shines above many of her peers in all of wrestling and she continues to put on instant classics with many of the top women in the world."

In ring she's the best women's wrestler in the world, and if WWE allowed her to have 20-25 minute matches consistently like they do Cody Rhodes she might be the best in the world. Her move-set is excellent, and her execution is nearly flawless. She's been in some of the greatest womens matches in WWE, and her work in Japan is even better. WWE's ultimate babyface, it's so tough to hate on anything she does. Great in ring, awesome character work, on the mic in a promotion where Japanese is the primitive language she's great on the mic. 9.5/10 wrestler"
