Horace Hogan

[8.0] "Shocked at how low Horace's rating is! I really thought Horace was quite good for a man his size. The dude used to slightshot himself to the outside of the ring and I do believe he had a pretty decent run in Japan! It does make me laugh that other people agree with the shock of his low rating, but then they go ahead and give him a 2 haha. Horace Hogan is one of Adam Blast's favorite wrestlers which all the confirmation I need. It also probably helps that I am a mark for the new world order, and I would probably give every member of the nWo a decent rating based on that. Horace never botched and didn't make lots of mistakes so I really think he's a lot more adequate than people give him credit for."

[4.0] "Horace was a competent brawler who enjoyed a decent run in FMW in the early-to-mid nineties where he mostly worked in tag team and hardcore matches and his slightly strange charisma was a good fit. It was away from this environment and these matches, as he frequently was during his WCW run, that his shortcomings became more apparent. Overall a flawed but still marginally better worker than he is now given credit for being."

[3.0] "Horace Hogan is not that bad of a wrestler. Sure he's Hulk Hogan's nephew and got into WCW for that very reason. His in ring work was decent and he even had a run in FMW."

[1.0] "This is like THE nepo baby wrestler. Never looked good in the ring, stuck around WAY longer than he should've. Honestly, if he'd just been an undercard jobber he'd probably get an extra point or two, but that's all he ever could've done well."

"This guys the future of wrestling brother, he could slam Andre for sure but he'd never beat me dude! The definition of a nepo hire, wouldn't of made it into any big promotion without the Hulkster connection, maybe could have been fine on the low card but with him constantly getting involved with top guys he was way out of his depth."

[4.0] "Horace was just a average guy who could brawl pretty good and put on some decent hardcore wrestling like in FMW. Make him do anything else and it would end in disaster or just be boring. His time with The Flock was actually a pretty good place for him but then Uncle Hogan stepped in and brought him to the nWo where he was Uncle Hogan's lackey. He remained for the most part attached to Uncle Hogan's hip because they were family. Surprisingly, Horace never got a WCW Hardcore Title reign which I thought was a missed opportunity to use him for what he's good for. Probably could have thrived there."

[4.0] "Nowhere near as bad as the ratings here are putting him out to be. Had some okay in ring skills, especially for his size. I'm guessing most people here aren't even familiar with his work(maybe outside of his WCW/nWo run) and are just hating because he's the legendary Hulks nephew."

[9.0] "Horace Hogan quite often will get unfairly hated on, in my opinion, his WCW run leaves much to be desired but I believe a lot of that is purely up to the booker's hatred for anything Hogan. Remember this is the same guy who gave Mike Awesome a 70's gimmick simply because he was Hogan's cousin. In Ring, Horace was a very underrated brawler and a bigger guy who wasn't afraid to take some gnarly bumps (a rarity for that time period). Horace Hogan has some serious skill about him, especially if you look at his Japan work as Horace Boulder, we all know about the 5-star tag match with Onita, Negro Casas, etc. But he has some real hidden gems both in and out of Japan, his match with Nigel McGuinness in 2002 is a fun watch, for example. So in conclusion, Horace Hogan was never going to be a top guy, but he certainly shouldn't be looked back upon as a bottom guy either."

[10.0] "Yall just dont see Horace in the same manner that I do. He may be the nephew of the Woodmaster, but the input he put into the business is invaluable. Firstly, he has a match that has been rated 5 stars by the observer, and becoming an FMW legend, both things Kurt Angle has never been able to achieve. Secondly, his attire was absolutely trailblazing in every regard. Bald, goatee, chain, vest, Jean shorts, knee brace. I want you to make me ONE other wrestler who has ever done it like that. FURTHERMORE, Horace achieved the impossible feat of powerbombing Kidman while never falling to the charms of Torrie Wilson. Even with this, he still found time to Take Care of Bollea so to speak and fight the dastardly New Blood in a battle royal of insurmountable odds on Thunder. Would Omega ever do something like that for the Elite? All in all, I think enough has been said."

[1.0] "I always have respect for people who dare to enter the ring and entertain people at the risk of their health. But like every field, there has to be one that is the worst in its profession, and when I think of wrestling and who would be the worst, I immediately think of Horace. No skills, no charisma, no clue of what he is doing there, and neopotism throwed in here, you got that goofball, turned into an insult to all wretling fans brother."

[0.0] "He was the nephew of Hulk Hogan brother, I mean he was so great that he truly broke into the business all by himself dude. All in all, he didn't have any redeeming qualities."

[2.0] "Horace Hogan was just a really, really bad wrestler who only had the position he had because his uncle was Hulk Hogan. Horace was very basic in the ring, had no mic skills whatsoever, nor was he charismatic at all. The only thing that stood out in a way was his look, but outside of that he had nothing."

[3.0] "From the little bit I remember of him in WCW, he wasn't the worst. Wasn't anything to write home about either."

[6.0] "He's a better human being than his uncle, he was a funny comedy wrestler, and he understood he wasn't going to win matches at all. He was just very for the ride and he loved every second of it. Horace was a fun addition to the wrestling universe that I won't ever forget."

[4.0] "Was Horace Hogan a great wrestler? No, I wouldn't say so. However was he one of the 50 WORST of all time (as he currently is here)? Definitely not. Sure he got opportunities that he wouldn't otherwise have received but that doesn't make him bad at his job. Plus it's not like life was all roses for the guy, when he was young, his mother was murdered and his father died of a drug overdose, that's a pretty rough hand to be dealt.... Anyway, it's besides the point - Horace was a decent worker (who even cracked the PWI Top 500 on a couple of occasions! ) He wasn't anything more than that, but he wasn't anything less either."

[4.0] "Horace had a pretty flat run in WCW but he was actually a decent foreign star for the FMW promotion in Japan where he would team up with Mike Awesome. I think him changing his name from Horace Boulder to Horace Hogan put unreasonable expectations on him, as he was never going to live up to the stardom and success of his uncle Hulk Hogan. If they'd kept him as a brawling character in the mid-card then I think he might have had a solid career because he was better than other wrestlers who got a push due to a family name like David Flair and Erik Watts"

[2.0] "Just a body. Bald head, jeans and a t shirt level just a body. Reminded you of your little brother/younger cousin not even trying at making a CAW. Over the years there has been Saturday morning enhancement talents who left a bigger splash. 1.75 rounded up. NEXT!"

[1.0] "Horace was frankly bad in WCW, being in roster rather due to family ties, and not a very good generic wrestler in Japan. 1 point."

[5.0] "Overall, he was an average wrestler. Not bad as the rating told. He had some good times in FMW while he was a member of Lethal Weapons stable. A big gaijin who brawl and do hardcore stuff is the best image of him to be remembered as."

[4.0] "This dudes rating is way too harsh, Horace was just your average forgettable mid carder. Not great by any definition but to be one of the worst ever you have to get way worse than Horace Hogan ever was."

[3.0] "As generic and forgettable a wrestler as I've ever seen. Horace couldn't do much in the ring and I don't recall ever having seen him talk."

[7.0] "A giant dude who even in WCW would take big chances, crazy dives through the ropes, big strikes and attacks, fun in the Flock, did fine in nWo... he's not amazing but he's much better than the rating would suggest."

[8.0] "Decent wrestler and cousin of Hulk Hogan. His matches in WCW were nothing amazing. But I think he was pretty good from what I saw of him in Japan. I am surprised he was rated so low. He's not an all-time great, but I don't think he's horrible either. He is a decent brawler in the ring and definitely not terrible."

[4.0] "I think Horace has been underrated due to his forgettable WCW run. A capable worker in FMW, a perfectly acceptable brawler if nothing else."

[2.0] "As other commenters have said, I don't really get the extremely low rating for Horace. Did he have some real life scandal that I'm not privy to that served as a catalyst for so many people to give him a zero rating? I do agree that Horace was poor, but not one of the worst of all time. He was just kind of shoehorned into WCW all of a sudden & was never really someone who fans wanted to see. At a time when the NWO was ballooning extremely fast with members, Horace joining the group was another drop in an overflowing bucket. He was not horrible in the ring, but just never amounted to anything."

[4.0] "I haven't seen a lot of Horace but let's face it no one has. He rarely had any matches and was mainly used as a prop. He wasn't good but certainly not as bad as what's made out here."

[6.0] "Why is his rating almost zero? I guess... No one ever saw his FMW run, right? I mean he was never a trully great wrestler or anything but he could be pretty ok when not booked just as the Hulkster's nephew. I have to admit that in WCW he was getting worse in-ringwise though."

[3.0] "I have always wondered of Horace if Hulk didn't try too hard to give him a rub. I mean, he was not a great wrestler, but I actually cannot really remember much despite calling him Hulk Hogans nephew. That was his angle. Which would be fine, except really, Hulk never actually did much with the guy. Hulk got a lot of guys over in a lot of ways. That is a fact. If he would have pushed it, I cannot see how it really never happened. Maybe it was his level of talent, who knows. But Hulk pretty much only lent him the name, that I recall. Before you consider Hulk not wanting to help get a relatively lousy wrestler over in any capacity recall, the man sold a main event match with Tiny Lister after doing a wrestling movie with him. Could Hogan have sold a Uncle/Nephew match? Easily. Not likely of high quality, but in his prime, people would have watched it. I think he was in WCW when Hogan was in midst of his best work, imo, as NWO Hogan. A lot of scenarios could have existed, yet didn't. Why?"

[2.0] "Very surprised to see Horace so low on this site. He wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination but he was not in the same class as Bubba the Love Sponge. A 2 sure, but not a 1 or a zero."

[2.0] "While he fared somewhat better in Japan, Horace Hogan inherited none of his uncle's charisma and in the US was largely a preliminary talent; even when a part of major stables like the NWO and Raven's Flock, he was really there just to be another warm body and didn't get over himself."
