Dory Funk Jr trained so many upcoming talents like Wesley Blake, Jayson Falcone and DMone Solavino but also trained LEGENDS as well, Bob Backlund, Leon the Terrible, Steve Kiern, Jumbo Tsuruda, Tenryu, John Tenta, Takao Omori, Val Venis, Edge, Christian Cage, Matt Bloom, Kenta Kobayashi & even the olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle. A heavy load of talent passed down thanks to Long Tall Texan."

Master of psychology and was able to put together some truly captivating wrestling, elevating the sport as a whole. Fantastic and underrated tag team worker (the stuff with the Briscos is forever excellent). Not as wild and unruly as brother Terry and some of us appreciate the more subtle delivery found in Dory Jr. Heck, he even did fine in McMahonland and I will always enjoy his moment in Royal Rumble 1996."

[9.0] "An old school technician. His matches are really enjoyable and really get you into the action, because of how snug and scientific the matches would be. Like the wrestlers around that time (Jack Brisco, Harley Race, and even his brother Terry ) he carried himself like a sportsman and a champion, and that's missing sometimes from Wrestling. As a tag team wrestler, even if overshadowed by Terry's greatness, they had great chemistry. Their battles could either be a mat-based wrestling match (see their match against Mil Mascaras and Dos Caras) or brawls (see Abdullah, Hansen, Brody, Gordy, Hansen)."

He & Terry are one of the greatest tag teams in pro wrestling history, The Funks. Dory Jr. & Terry are the only brother pair to have held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. His father, Dory Funk Sr. was also a legendary wrestler. The Funks are the first ever 3x AJPW Real World Tag League Tournament Winners. One of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time. One of the greatest Ring Generals of all time. His matches always ranged between good to great to epic. Innovated The Texas Cloverleaf. His rivalry with Jack Brisco is legendary. The Funks had legendary feuds with Abdullah The Butcher, The Sheik, and Jack & Jerry Brisco. Great rivalry between The Funks vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Giant Baba. The Funks were ultra popular in Japan. Did not have the charisma of his brother Terry. Was the easygoing, calm, patient Funk brother. Held numerous championships around the world. Achieved amazing career longevity. I can see influence that he had on the legendary Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Legendary pro wrestling trainer as he had Kurt Angle, Edge, Christian, Lita, & Mickie James, among others as his students. His body of work in AJPW during the 1970's & 1980's helped set the tone for what would become the legendary "King's Road" style of AJPW in the 1990's."

[9.0] "Dory is a much underrated wrestler and performer. While he wasn't as contextually popular as his younger brother, Terry (namely because the latter was extremely charismatic and willing to adapt to the times) Dory was, regardless, one of the best technical wrestlers of his time, and arguably ever. His ring work was smooth, extremely fast when needed, and realistic, posing as a legitimate challenge with his technical skill both in the ring and out of it. His methodical style can rub people the wrong way, but it worked to quickly get him over as a wrestler that promoters could throw in with anyone and have a solid bout with, allowing Dory to get a historical four year reign with the NWA belt, which had him wrestle a wide and versatile who's who of great wrestlers: from the Brisco brothers to Murdoch to Race all the way to a young Jumbo Tsuruta, there really wasn't anyone Dory could go out with that he couldn't at least get a half decent bout out of. His tag work with Terry as the Funk Brothers, one of the biggest main event sensations in Japan even to this day is, for obvious reasons, also legendary in their own right. Dory was and even still to this day is regarded as one of the top wrestling trainers around, with him having basically set the baseline for the King's Road slow burn style that he imparted to both Tenyru and Tsuruta, as well as helping to train up Edge/Christian, the Hardy Brothers, and many more. If it wasn't for Dory, many of the best of all time simply wouldn't be around."

[10.0] "A member of the great Funk Family, he was arguably the most talented and most successful of the group. His contributions to the sport extended well beyond his in-ring performances as he became a great teacher and goodwill ambassador. and was definitely a great NWA World Champion. After growing up in Texas, where he cut his teeth, Dory had a four year run as champ. Funk set a new trend in which the champion made his challengers look like they could beat him, the NWA Champion, but he would always win in the end. While some might argue this hurt the championship, it was a style that largely revitalized when Ric Flair held the title a generation later. Funk's ability to carry anyone by bumping around and taking a beating while keeping his credibility was tricky. , his hard work, reliability and dedication, mental and physical toughness and his technical skills made a fav from promoters and fans. His clean-cut, polite mannerisms were very popular with the fans (although he later became one of the sports most hated men, along with brother Terry) He became a top notch heel along his wild brother Terry, the feuding with the Briscos (Jack & Jerry) in perhaps the best tag team program at that point in time. to began training people, some of whom are the best stars this sport has ever seen. Jumbo Tsuruta and Kurt Angle is perhaps the first that comes to mind, but many of the WWF's stars who entered the company in the late 90s were Funkin' Dojo members !"
