[6.0] "One of those wrestlers where the tools are there, size, strength, decent technical chops. But the pieces never quite clicked to elevate him to true stardom. His best work came in Japan in tag teams with Lance Archer, where his mat game and power could shine without needing charisma. Had a pretty good run in MLW too. His run in WWE fell flat due to a lack of spark and presence. Still, he's a credible, physically imposing worker who can be a good main eventer in pretty much any indie promotion."

[4.0] "While Davey Boy Smith Jr. has the size, physique, and even some of the technical prowess of his late father, he treads behind him as both an athlete and an overall storyteller. For what it's worth, Davey Jr. does have the look of a legit star, tall and bulky, and does have a certain "big bad" look about him. Unfortunately, in-ring, that translates to "monster of the week" performance. He shows solid technical ability, especially for his size, and he's a relatively smooth worker, but his pace is slow, to the point beyond methodical into the boring range. Really, he's much more suited to tag work than he is as a singles guy, and All Japan's decision to make him one of the more notable heavyweights in their company is a very confusing decision considering their younger talent. Overall, even in a more workrate based company like, say, New Japan, Davey Jr. has a very clear ceiling as a lower-mid card guy who can operate as a satisfactory stooge in a big stable."

[7.0] "Davey Boy Smith Jr. (Harry Smith) is a technically gifted and physically imposing wrestler who, at times, has seemed right on the edge of greatness without quite crossing into that next level. Trained in the Dungeon and carrying the bloodline of both the Hart and Smith families, he had all the tools -- size, strength, grappling skill, and lineage. He excelled in Japan, especially with NJPW, where his tag work alongside Lance Archer as the Killer Elite Squad showcased how effective and intense he can be. He shines most in environments where wrestling feels like a contest, leaning into his amateur background and power game. His mat work is sharp, and he's clearly got a love for the sport. But charisma and mic work have always been his biggest hurdles. He's lacked that spark or presence that truly hooks mainstream audiences, and that's likely why he's bounced in and out of major promotions like WWE without making a lasting impact. A strong, respected worker with real skill and credibility, especially internationally. He's carved out a solid career, even if he never fully escaped the shadow of his famous name. There's value in being that kind of talent, even if he never becomes the headline act"

He's the second best member of every tag team he has ever been in and has never had a memorable singles match in his entire career. He would have been a brief OVW/FCW callup midcarder in WWE and not much else if not for his famous family."
benny5bellys wrote on 28.02.2024:

SlimCornette wrote on 27.05.2023:
"Absolutely one of the very best, just like his dad. I could have realistically seen him as the WWE champ. Liked him in njpw, really like him in MLW, id like to see him & hammerstone trade the world title a couple times. Serious wrestler, not overly skilled on the mic, but a believable promo, which is the style I prefer anyway. When hes in the ring, it feels like bret, owen, bulldog, & neidhart are on monday nights again."

[6.0] "DH Smith has good size, decent technical wrestling and a family legacy that is hard to match, he never developed the charisma to become a big star. He can put on good matches with the right opponent but he also had some bad matches when he did not get the right opponent. Best as a tag wrestler like his father."
Bullshark1 wrote on 28.02.2023:
[5.0] "To be honest, the only reason Davey Boy Smith Jr has worked where he's worked and accomplished what he's accomplished is because of his name. The guy's a decent technical wrestler, but most definitely can't compare with people like Bryan Danielson, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Daniel Garcia, etc. He's a good wrestler for companies like MLW, but in WWE, NJPW, and NOAH, he was destined to fall flat."
benh2 wrote on 13.01.2023:
[4.0] "A great body and size but the great stops there. Davey was never able to grow into a good wrestler and is pretty devoid of charisma. He found a nice spot for himself in NJPW where he was passable but he seemingly thought he deserved more and that went down the tubes."

[5.0] "I'd be lying if I said that I didn't think this guy got a lot of his opportunities because of his second name: for being apart of such a well known and respected wrestling family he's really been pretty dire for a good majority of his career. WWE gave him numerous chances to fix his act and he's rebuffed every one of them. He's got the look and the muscle, but I feel like he just.... doesn't care? He's like a robot in the ring in how slow he moves sometimes and he's not very good at emoting himself. Sure, he can have reasonably good matches depending on who's in the ring with him and I've seen definite improvement in his ring work, but I just feel like he's very uninspired and I've never looked forward to seeing him in a ring, especially in NOAH and NJPW."

He has no physical or verbal charisma and rarely computes with his opponents, often putting on utter snoozers of matches while taking his paycheques."

[5.0] "Smith is a big guy and a solid worker, but unfortunately he doesn't have anything resembling a personality. At this point, in his mid-30s, it seems unlikely that that's going to change, so capitalizing on his name and family connections in MLW is probably about as good as it'll get for him."

If both he & Teddy can maintain momentum, I could see them potentially having a place in AEW if they want it along side Pillman Jr. But looking at Harry as a complete package, he's lacking in more than one area & he's damaged goods."
LainIwakura wrote on 08.04.2019:
[5.0] "This man is not a man at all, rather he moves like a machine trying to imitate human behaviour. His matches are usually boring and consist of him walking towards someone in a vaguely threatening manner. Beyond this he can do some powerful moves but there is no reason to want to see him over a better powerhouse. He makes Lance Archer look impressive which is probably the only upside to watching a K. E. S match."

He definitely has to work more on his personality to make people more invested in him. He is far behind his KES tag team partner, Lance Archer, in that regard."

[7.0] "Underrated for sure! He has a great physique towering at 6"6 which makes him way bigger than his relatives. He successfully followed his families' footsteps and has done very well. He started at a very young age and hope to see more years to come. He was fortunate to team up with his father before he died (Davey Smith Sr. ). Stampede wrestling helped him go into other promotions worldwide. When he started in WWE they gave him a lot of house show matches in 2006. He did not debut on TV until Fall of 2007 as DH Smith. He started off good and then WWE decided to sent him down to FCW Probably because he was "too young". Not enough of chance to fight in singles. Tyson Kidd and him were successful in FCW winning the tag team belts and then went to WWE to form the Hart Dynasty with Natayla. They were also successful in WWE as tag team champions. When Hart Dynasty dissolved, Smith was on his own. He had not go that far and WWE released. Not fair because he did not get enough chances as a singles which could have been Untied States or Intercontinental champion. WWE had took advantage of him. Thank god he has done well in Japan where he has made a name for himself. Great to see wrestlers following their families' footsteps. Maybe their could be a 4th generation Hart one day."

[10.0] "Davey Boy Smith Jr. is in my opinion one of the best heavyweight gaijins to regularly wrestle for NJPW, behind only AJ Styles and Karl Anderson. It's amazing how far he's come from his days in the Hart Dynasty (where he was still pretty good). Currently a tag team wrestler in Japan with Lance Archer, but with several strong showings in singles matches including a win over Hiroshi Tanahashi that shows at least a little faith in him from the company's management. At only 29 years old, I think the sky is still the limit for Davey Boy Smith Jr. BOP!"

[4.0] "David Hart Smith is a rare case where a big mammoth like him lacked charisma from the crowd. David Hart Smith started his WWE career in 2007 (as D. H. Smith) before being caught with drug problems ultimately causing him to wrestle on Sunday Night Heat. Since then, he was the muscle to Tyson Kidd and Natalya before being left go in 2011. Smith has been open with how WWE regulates matches and how you can't do certain moves. While I can understand that, it's safe to say that David had the charisma of a rock and would of never gotten over in the first place, despite WWE's policies."
jchiofal wrote on 14.08.2013:
[10.0] "Smith in my opinion is one of the most talented, and wasted that the WWE had an opportunity to have. Not only is he a total powerhouse like his father was, but he is also a mat technician, like the Hart family taught him to be. His lack of charisma was his biggest downfall in the US. A power/technician based wrestler in the US needs charisma, and in NEw Japan he has found it, along with a huge following."

At only 26 he has much potential, proving that at Invasion Attack. Whether as a tag team or singles competitor, he will continue to make his old man proud. When people ask who was the breakout wrestler of the Hart Dynasty, I think of Harry Smith!"
