Will Ospreay

[9.0] "There's something special about a generational talent, and Ospreay is an example of this. Storytelling is en point, his in-ring work is crazy good, and overall, he's just really fucking good. If my kids ask about pro-wrestling 20 years later, I'll tell them about Ospreay. Legend in the ring, really good on the mic, overall, insane. Yes, he might be a bit of a spot monkey, but it really doesn't matter if the spots are fucking insane. Deffo one of the best in the world."

[9.0] "One of a kind in the ring. Unpopular opinion but I enjoy his rambling promo style and find it entertaining."

[2.0] "This wrestler is highly overrated. I don't understand the hype surrounding him. In many of his matches, he doesn't sell the action and simply gets back up. Additionally, he often uses false finishes that don't make sense. Don't even get me started on his rivalry with Dave Meltzer. Dave knows how to overrate his matches and his drawing power, but I don't believe he can draw for anything. Many of his best matches are against opponents who challenge him. I hope Kenny retains his title at all costs. He shouldn't be winning the main championship at all. I know eventually he would get it but his time is not now at all."

[3.0] "In a great consideration to his talents instead of personal troubles and incidents, he is far from the best wrestler in the world. To me, he is the definition of the phrase "same old". The way he works matches is not that impressive to me; high-flying move, "strong style" moves, random cheap shot or taunt, terrible finisher (Hidden Blade), repeat. There are bits, however, that make me feel very impressed for his aerial ability, especially in his younger years. In contrast to today, his younger version is by far his best, one that was no stranger to high-flying technical prowess, ala Tiger Mask. Today, his singles matches, at best, are not one-and-done, but more one-and-far-too-much. His strong suit, for me, is having to be worked by another competitor. It is perfectly A-OK if you like his style or his persona of work, but it is very much a far-cry from a style that needs to be suited for somebody like me. It is also to note, opinionated of course, that Ospreay desperately tries way too hard to be like the greats of by-gone eras; he is, among many other characteristics, a selfish type of worker in terms of praise and overall effort. One thing to also note is the very troublesome nature of himself backstage and on media. He has, of course, done wrong (everybody has), but, overall, he has just gotten to a level where brushing aside anything that he has done in a backstage manner is ludicrous. He has given time to defend troublesome figures, such as his friends Paul Robinson and Scott Wainwright, who had done very devious deeds, but had to be stuck right to Ospreay to avoid further scrutiny and negative press and, ultimately, a full blackball from the industry. It is a great thing that one of those said people, Wainwright, had been kicked out of the industry. He had also done some very foolish deeds in regards to the debated Pollyanna/blackball controversy, the Sadie Gibbs harassment scandal, among other discretions, wherein that he would deliver, what many consider to be, half-arsed apologies. Scamming money intended for family members is also one that tends to be a topic of discussion. These troubles, however, must not make one person be automatically disliked, no matter how much of it is true or factitious. Ospreay, ultimately, is a wrestler who is flawed, but not as flawed as his personal troubles that make me cringe every time that I see him. It is not "asinine" to dislike Will Ospreay; it is valid, like disliking any other type of professional wrestler."

[9.0] "Ospreay is an amazingly talented wrestler who has put on incredible matches in as many companies as possible. Even at a younger age, he is very experienced and has had more 5-star matches than anyone else. I do firmly believe he is overrated by the mass wrestling media, though, as there are better wrestlers in his age group in my opinion. However, Ospreay definitely has a substantial career left to continue to deliver."

[8.0] "Very very hard to rate him his move set is not normal no one can say he is high flyer or brawler or power house or technician I prefer him as high flyer in new Japan"

[7.0] "About 5 years ago I thought Ospreay was not just a 10/10 wrestler but destined to become one of the greatest ever. He was an amazing high-flyer who evolved into a fantastically explosive striker, making him a near perfect all-rounder. I never rated him as high as some of his contemporaries, but I still thought he delivered many amazing matches and was one of the best in the world. So why the change in my opinion? Because he unfortunately found an initially great formula and decided to never stray from it. "What's the problem? Every wrestler has a formula! ". Sure, to an extent, but not every wrestler copy-and-pastes the exact same performance every match with all the same signature moves, same spots, same counters, and all with the same setups. That's what Ospreay has fallen into. You know every match will feature him spamming the exact mega-athletic and mega-flashy moves he did the week or even the day before. It's boring enough relying on the same structure, but it's worse when that structure is packed with the exact same moves. Even his opponents hit the same counters on him, which is completely puzzling in kayfabe. Basically every Ospreay match includes: slingshot crossbody to the outside, flying elbow, standing corkscrew moonsault, Kawada kicks, backflip push kick into enzuigiri, hook kick, Cheeky Nandos, Sasuke Special, flipping cutter counter, octopus hold, reverse frankensteiner, handspring enzuigiri, spinning backbreaker, Spanish Fly, sit-out powerbomb, dropkick across the ring, and plenty more. That's before his finishers (technically now ex-finishers, sadly) the OsCutter, Leap of Faith, Hidden Blade, and Stormbreaker, which have become cheap near-fall bait and thus have lost almost all their aura as a result of such power creep. Now that his strongest point of his flashy athletic offence no longer impresses me like it used to, the flaws I once overlooked stand out far more. The biggest issue is how he turns every match into the 'Ospreay Show', since despite being an incredible athlete, he annoyingly always forces opponents to match his rapid pace of bombs and near-falls, and the result is often a mindless sprint where moves fly by too quickly to feel meaningful. Even if his opponent is naturally slower and more methodical, they'll eventually be forced to trade bombs with Ospreay because that's the only style Ospreay appears interested in or the only style he thinks he can impress with. His character work has grown annoying too, since it's always the same 50/50 standoffs, respectful stalemates, fighting spirit no-sells, mirrored spots, and defiant fire-ups/staredowns that appear in every big match of his. It's completely predictable and soulless, because am I really expected to get hyped for those displays of character when they come out against seemingly every mid-card and main-event opponent he ever faces? It just dilutes those displays each time he goes for them, so they no longer feel significant in his truly bigger matches that they should ideally be reserved for. Plenty of wrestlers have formulas, but few repeat everything in the exact same ways as Ospreay, not just in offence but also in character work. Even his promos, which have supposedly improved, don't land for me. He often speaks in a clunky manner, like his mouth is full of marbles, and with an unnatural cadence that exposes he's robotically reciting memorised lines. He also leans heavily on hoarse-throated yelling, swearing, and crude terms to feign passion, which makes him sound like a kid who thinks being loud and rude equals looking tough. All his cheesy lines and name-calling are meant to be witty but only make him further come across as childish. He's shown he can sell properly at times, whether with long term limb-selling or general displays of exhaustion and damage, but he frequently brushes that off with convenient "adrenaline" rushes that render his opponents' efforts almost worthless, since he'll suddenly hit all his flashy and demanding moves again like nothing happened. His real-time selling is also overly animated with exaggerated faces, vocalisations, and gestures. I noticed that hamminess of his even back when I thought he was one of the best in the world, and now it's impossible to ignore. It's gotten worse in AEW, where he leans into overwrought "cinematic" moments with those artificial staredowns and dramatic poses while the action pauses and the cameras carefully everything like it's a soap opera. Those moments are meant to come across 'badass' or with 'gravitas', but they actually come off embarrassingly forced, killing any sense of reality that a wrestling match is maintain to have the illusion of. Ospreay is undeniably selfless, since he constantly puts people over and lets opponents show off their abilities, but it leads to these endless copy-and-paste 50/50 'epics'. Those matches are supposed to elevate his opponents by showing they can hang with him, but if EVERYONE takes Ospreay to the limit, then that achievement means nothing. If it happened a few times a year then it would feel special, but it happens CONSTANTLY, so nobody actually stands out. A truly great wrestler should create compelling matches without relying purely on athleticism and should adapt to opponents rather than forcing them to adapt to him, and I've become convinced Ospreay simply can't do that anymore. He's still capable of good matches, but it usually takes a truly special opponent to pull that out of him, because his default is now the "more is more" approach with all the aforementioned stale repetition. I still rate him positively overall because of his earlier years when he felt genuinely fresh and innovative, but he's gone downhill since becoming so predictable and samey. Your first big Ospreay match feels like one of the most exciting and athletically awe-inspiring things you've ever seen, but every new iteration feels more and more hollow because it's always the same thing repackaged."

[10.0] "10/10 A wrestler who people can say many things about. His athleticism, his technical skill, inconsistent selling, video game wrestling style etc. But I think he's helped take wrestling to a new level. The type of things he can do in the ring is genuinely rare. His speed, body control, timing, and his very wide and versatile movepool. He is a truly at another level when it comes to skill in the ring, but it can also be said that not everyone who watches wrestling can appreciate his style. Some call it video game wrestling. Ospreay is also guilty of inconsistent selling, where he suspends selling of a limb in order to do an impressive spot. This is a common thing in modern wrestling, many are guilty of it. His promo ability is okay. He has an intense delivery and he sounds sincere. He also got the word 'bruv' over. Mic work is not really an issue for him, so with good booking I see him as a star with pretty broad appeal."

[10.0] "Most influential wrestler of the nezt little while I think. One of the best free agent signings in recent years, Ospreay has shown up and shown out in AEW losing absolutely no momentum since his NJPW run. He is on another level, almost nearly always worthy of one of the top five matches in any given year, the kid is a machine and hia recent storylines with the united empire and death ruders have shown he has nailed down the character/promo side with gusto as well. He is exceptional and someone I wish has a long and fruitful career because it would be good for the industry if he were to."

[10.0] "I saw someone on Twitter liken Will Ospreay fans to 12 years. Well, shit, so be it. He's a great wrestler in my eyes. A colorful move set, awesome aesthetics, great mic work and can put on a great match with just about anyone I can think of right now. The dude can also bend the crowd like nobody's business which could be a pro or con for most folks. Like, for example, his no-selling. Watching a handful of Ospreay matches, he'll no sell a lot to a rise outta the crowd which COULD be problem but it's not like no-selling is his whole thing. He's an incredible seller. Just watch his match with Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and you'll know what I mean. Anyways, love the guy's work and I hope to see him become the AEW Champion soon."

[7.0] "I don't dislike Will, but he's inconsistent. Feels like he forgets to sell at times and just wants to get his moves in. I do think he's extremely talented as an athlete, but sometimes it feels like something is missing in his work for me. Just looks like he's going spot to spot. As a personality he's alright and he can cut a really good fired up babyface promo when given a good story to work with. He could be better, but he outright refuses to be a worker and just do moves. Does this whole deathriders storyline to add to his character and literally works the exact same match and style he ways has. Could be great, but probably is as good as he'll ever be."

[10.0] "Not sure what more you could ask for from a pro-wrestler, probably the best of all time at pulling off highly complicated and athletic sequences."

[5.0] "This guy takes the suspension of disbelief and stretches it until it can wrap around the world twice over. A shame too, because when he's focused and properly on it, he can produce a great, even amazing match, but most of the time, it's just him shoving in as many quote-on-quote "epic" moments as possible to get a cheap pop. Not to mention, his selling's really hit-or-miss in matches. One minute, he's selling an injury believable but the next, he'll be running around the ring like he has a rocket up his arse. Amazing athlete. Mid wrestler. Absolute piece of shit in real life."

[10.0] "Wrestling machine & one of the most entertaining & pleasing wrestlers to watch. Will makes you feel like you are a little kid again playing a wrestling video game"

[8.0] "As of the day I'm writing this, Will Ospreay is easily the best wrestler in the world. Not only has he earned his title of Mr. 5 Stars, but he's easily the most reliable athlete for big matches. His extremely high-flying style was very cool, but his transition to one that relies more on technicality has caused his wrestling to be incredibly fitting for any of the great athletes he faced somehow. He is incredibly fluid and brutal when he needs to and his performances are always incredible to witness, and he proved it time and time again against some of the best wrestlers of his generation (Kenny Omega, Shingo Takagi, Bryan Danielson, Okada...). EDIT (10 -> 8): 2 or so years after my initial review, the effect of Ospreay's wrestling is starting to wear off on me. I think that he relies way too much on moves, moves and moves, which hinders any chance for interesting in-ring psychology. I still think his moves are good and his athleticism is pretty top tier, and he's also willing to take a lot of stupid bumps. But I'm afraid that in a few years, his wrestling won't be doing much for me. ANOTHER EDIT (8 -> 7): Maybe I'm starting to become more enlightened as I'm aging, because hot damn have Ospreay's promos become ever so terrible, and not just in terms of delivery (which has been mostly fine), but his dialogue is just corny and impossible to like."

"Will Ospreay is truly the best in the world today! He floats in the air like a wizard. He's a very underrated promo as well."

[9.0] "An extremely talented wrestler that lacks the self-control to be one of my favorites ever. He uses at least two finishes a match to the point were it's becoming John Cena levels of predictable. And while I don't mind the no-selling even a quarter as much has I hate the finisher kick outs, it's still a definite issue."

[9.0] "Ospreay is no doubt an incredibly talented performer, and I am really enjoying his current run in AEW. The ONLY problem I have is the selling, or lack thereof, in his matches. While it usually doesn't hurt his matches, it prevents me from giving him a 10, since this is something that can, and should be, changed."

[7.0] "One of the most athletic, agile, spectacular, and maybe creative wrestlers of his generation, but unfortunately with 2 or 3 major weaknesses. Can't for the life of him properly sell for the duration of a whole match and make his story believable. Rarely gives the impression of telling a story, and rather performing a complex choreography. One of the weakest on the mic out of all 'main event' level wrestlers, and not very charismatic. I'd want to adore his work, but simply can't. I see him on the extreme ends of both, the positive and the negative sides that characterize his work. Absolutely overrated by Dave Meltzer, and large parts of the IWC."

[10.0] "One of the most divisive wrestlers on the planet. I personally think Will is the best wrestler on the planet atm as well as being top 10 of all time, his catalogue of work in the last 6-8 years in particular is full of genuinely all timer matches varying from gimmicky hardcore, 40+ minute main events, crazy multimans, etc. No matter how you feel about the guy you cannot deny the impact he's had on wrestling over the past decade."

[10.0] "Either you hate him or love him, I love him, I get some people can't get behind his wrestling style which at the end of the day wrestling is a art form, not everybody is gonna like the same things and that's okay. But for me, this dude is a revolutionary in the ring, 1 of 1. Everytime I watch one of his matches I am limitlessly entertained and surprised by his athleticism! He isn't a Rock on the mic but he's not as bad as some make it seem, he has shown his ability to be the standard bearer of the main event scene over various different companies, definitely (and well deservingly) future world champ in AEW."

[4.0] "So much potential to be an incredible wrestler, but wastes it all on hype moments and aura. Follows a strict formula with his matches to the point where they're extremely predictable, the worst thing that could be said about an AEW wrestler, where a majority of their pops are entirely built on shock. I wish he was more than parkour hulk hoggan, but alas, he will continue to hulk up and no sell finishers into hidden blades, and the crowd will lap it up."

[4.0] "I'll start with this just because your one of if not the most athletic pro wrestler in the world doesn't make you the best wrestler in the world. Will Osprey is a very talented wrestler he is just what I said highly athletic his speed is something else and he's does things very swift and clean! But all his matches are exactly the same every single time no matter who he is working with. For example... every single match will have the same/similar strike patterns with ducks and dodges and somersaults that will lead to a stare down it looks clean but very choreographed almost like a dance the matches will almost always end with Will Osprey taking his opponent's finish and no selling it to him hitting his Hidden Blade finish (running back elbow) into a different finish he has either the Storm Breaker or Tiger Driver for the win. But all his matches have a lot of no selling and I mean A LOT which if the match calls for it it's fine but he often does it after moves that he probably should just easily walk away from like the Canadian destroyer no selling that move is ridiculous and to me it's like one of the most frustrating things! His matches are mainly very spot money type of matches as if your watching a gymnastics competition if you will. But to stay positive he has many great finishes that are different and stand out, he's an adequate talker on the mic, he lacks in-ring storytelling but has some decent moments here and there if he's working with the right person like a Bryan Danielson for example. Ultimately he is kind of fun to watch, but if you watch him too much, it gets old real quick I just wish he would switch things up and slow down sometimes."

[9.0] "Taking a point off because sometimes he just does too much for me. He no sells brutal moves and sometimes his match feels like a movez match. Apart from that he's one of the most talented wrestlers in the world who's a great babyface."

[7.0] "An incredibly talented athlete, but I find it hard to really buy and believe in Ospreay's matches to ever consider him a top tier wrestler. His style comes across to me as over-rehearsed and psychologically really poor, e.g., kicking out of everything, even if his facials and promos are solid. I'm not sure how Ospreay can really adapt from doing this over and over in the future either, and I don't meant just physically. Not my cup of tea in terms of wrestling style, but I get why it is for others."

[10.0] "Will Ospreay is an absolutely insane talent. He's so athletically gifted and it translates very well into his matches, overall I think he may be the best in ring wrestler there ever has been. He's at least top 5 in that category. He's also a great face and his promos also very good. While he does rely heavily on an aerial style, he is also good at other areas of wrestling and really has no weaknesses in any area of wrestling. what's crazy is he's only 32 and I look forward to what he can do in the future."

[10.0] "One of the best wrestlers in the world there are really very few who can keep up with him. I think of Kenny, Bryan (but he has retired), Okada and AJ (though he's slowed down in theory). I genuinely struggle to name others at a similar level. I also understand those who don't appreciate him I used to have a hard time following him in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as well. He tends to oversell almost everything, and then sometimes seems to undersell everything, which is very unusual. But once you start appreciating him, you overlook it because there's so much else he brings to the table (although I must admit that selling offense is probably his weakest point). In All Elite Wrestling, in my opinion, he truly broke into the mainstream scene. He quickly became one of my favorite wrestlers, and in AEW the feud with Kyle was absolutely astronomical. He's phenomenal he really reminds me of a young AJ. Like AJ, he consistently elevates his opponents. He doesn't just carry matches; he creates chemistry with anyone and delivers truly magnificent feuds. Right now he's starting a feud with Mox, which I'm already sure will be one of the top feuds of 2026. Again, for me, he's currently one of the best if not the best in the world."

[6.0] "On best non Japanese wrestler's ever list he is definitely my second best wrestler behind Danielson and for my overall list he is actually nine so I rate him highly however this rating is only for the past 7 months"

[9.0] "Will Ospreay is - like it or not - already the most influential professional wrestler of his generation. He works a very modern Kenny Omega esque maximalist style but whereas I never bought Omega for a second due to his janky Jim Carrey ham acting, Ospreay has that human element I can grok. This is a guy who feels pain and is struggling to win a fight. He feels like a real dude while so many of his contemporaries do not. I don't mind Cirque du Soleil in my puroresu as long as there's a living, breathing human being underneath it all."

[7.0] "While he is typically an exciting wrestler to watch and has a good amount of great matches, I find issues in the way he works specifically with how inconsistent his psychology and selling can be. I personally won't look at him as an all time worker until there's clear improvement from him in making those things believable."

"Will Ospreay is just amazing, one of the best to ever do it in the ring and his mic skills are great aswell. His character is great and as an English man myself I must say it's so good to see a british wrestler doing as good as he is."

[2.0] "I never understood why people think Will Ospreay is a big deal in the world of professional wrestling; hell, if there was a "Most Overrated Professional Wrestler Award" to give out, then I'd definitely hand it to good ole Will. This guy is, as other people mentioned, a choreographer: he has some moves be constantly brings about in his matches and never seems to bring anything new to the table; and yet, the likes of Dave Meltzer glaze him on am endless basis when all Ospreay delivers is the same that he's delivered before, and frankly? Not only do I not understand the hype or see the "it factor" that fascinates so many people, but it's even worse when I'm downright bored by it. While I'm sure Will is an awesome guy, I don't think he's a notable wrestler at all."

[1.0] "He's a good choreographer, but he's not a wrestler. He's the pinnacle of a dead-end career as a wrestler. He's not even the Marvel movies of the wrestling world; he's like the Fast and Furious franchise. The only thing he can offer is action, which has become so predictable over time that I simply can't watch his matches, because once you've watched one, you've essentially watched them all. His mic work is poor, as is the emotion he sometimes doesn't even try to show. In all his hype, he hasn't advanced any of the other fighters, and some of his matches, like the one with Bea Priestley, I don't even want to remember. Epic for the sake of epic, action for the sake of action. While guys like Harashima don't get the credit from Meltzer, he's long since surpassed Misawa's record, which standardizes and objectifies him in the eyes of many fans (and, worst of all, other wrestlers) as the greatest wrestler in history. And that's terrifying, considering how many Ospreay clones have come out in that time. And the funny thing is, even an Ospreay clone like Kyle Fletcher has become better than Ospreay himself."

[10.0] "One of the best currently working. He combines lucha libre, hard striking, and mat wrestling to put on some electric matches almost every time he's in the ring. His promos have keep getting exponentially better. His rise was slow and he really paid his dues on the undercard. His performances in 2023 are some of the best matches anyone has had in a calendar year. He's better than the wrestler you're thinking of right now."

[9.0] "By far, the most polarizing wrestler in the entire world. And that is one of the reasons why I love him so much. See, the thing with Ospreay is like, for me he was clearly the best wrestler at 2023, and some people even argue about him being the best at 2024 (not me). But his past years, before he became the incredible heavyweight he all know, was...hard, man. He had some bangers with Okada and Takagi, for example, an match with Ibushi that I love so much, but he was impossible to support, his ring skill literally felt like someone playing videogame while presses all the buttoms at the same time hoping something would work out for them. He became a beast, an incredible heel, charismatic face and even better in ring, but I still think he can become a much better wrestler, for sure we are NOT seeing his prime yet. Maybe even acchieve the same level of a wrestler that AJ Styles, his idol, was."

[10.0] "Will could have easily stayed a one-dimensional high flyer who just opened the show with some exciting moves like Jack Evans or Matt Sydal, but he went to Japan for a few years and worked harder than anyone else across multiple countries. He was unlucky with the timing of his IWGP World Heavyweight championship reign, but before long he didn't need the title- he was doing moves that no-one else could do and was putting on the best matches every night. His matches with Kenny knighted him as the heir to the throne, and somehow he keeps hitting new heights. I hope he can stay injury-free after he heals from this surgery, he is one of the most exciting wrestlers ever and he pulls off the craziest spots so casually. It's unfortunate the stars didn't align for an AJ Styles match, but his resume is already crazy enough."

[10.0] "My favorite wrestler of the last 15 years undisputed. Can put on a classic fast paced match with anyone. What more could you ask for? I cannot put into words how much I love Will and everything he does. My Aerial Assassin can do so much."

[7.0] "What he is capable of is truly impressive, no doubt. His athleticism is off the charts. But his style is just too choreographed for my liking. I like there to appear to be more of a simulated struggle of sorts. His matches, mostly, don't resemble that. I do find him charismatic and his athletic abilities are impressive but I have to dock him a few for the highly cooperative look to his matches. Still a 7 but too high of a rating on here imo."

[8.0] "Will Ospreay isn't gonna be everyone's cup of tea when watching wrestling, I'm one of those people sometimes. He's matches are enjoyable and the crowd loves them, but sometimes he does too much flipping in his matches. Some of my favorite AEW matches are from him, he's also good on the mic"

[1.0] "I can't say I'm as big of a fan of his as I was when he first broke into the main stream wrestling line. Let me be clear, Ospreay is one of the best---if you are just watching a few matches. But as you go down his catalogue, you realize something. Eventually, you push the thought away until it becomes more apparent to you, and slowly, you start to despise him when it becomes too big you can't ignore and so you start to hate him. It is this: his matches are all the same. You think about it. "Man, this match was a 10/10 but...wait...that match is also a 10/10 for the exact same reason but I can't remember anything special or unique" . It's the same matches, over and over---and when compared together---they are nearly identical. Now, a lot of wrestlers get these allegations, like the Young Bucks in 2021 (objective fallacy), but Ospreay is more justified. The second you start watching his matches with a critical lense, and not just entertainment, you start to really, REALLY, despise them. The repetition, the lack of psychology, the lack of moves meaning anything begin to bug you. For example, the Hidden Blade is his finisher but he has to hit it 2000 times to finish a match so how am I supposed to take it seriously when he very clearly uses it as a transition move? His timing and storytelling, the rhythm of the match, they often don't make any sense and don't allow for any story to be told. Sure, every wrestler repeats the same moves, but this is different. These are the same matches, repeated again and again. Once you notice it, you can't unsee it. They all blend together and although they are objectively great matches, it's what I like to call "TikTok wrestling." No story, no psychology, just good old dump fun to shut off your brain. There is nothing to be analyzed, nothing to be gained, and nothing to be acquired from these in the long term. It's a trend at its heart. Now, I will say this. A majority of people do not point this out. I think I am the only one who has been like "this is a problem." Everyone else seems to dislike Ospreay for a particular reason that makes no sense to me. I really wish people would open their eyes and see that these matches are like MCU movies. In the words of Martin Scorsese, their theme park rides. You don't really get anything from them. Just the same thing over and over again. Now, what makes me give him a one and not a zero? Well because Ospreay is a charisma machine. On the mic, he is likeable and cuts a good promo, and his matches draw for that particular audience, which you can't deny. His athleticism is insane, his speed--even when injured--is on par with a prime Seth Rollins and 90s Rey Mysterio. He draws for AEW and is a focal point of the roster, with good reason, as he matches always get the loudest reactions and the fanbase adores him. I can say whatever I want about his match's but when a man has the heart of the fans, you have to give him some credit. Ospreay is an anomaly in that you can't truly give him a zero because a zero implies he is not good, and while a 30 minute Ospreay match is slop to me, it has a passionate audience and fan base. This cannot be denied. Regardless of my opinion, I feel like Ospreays style will be mimicked for ages to come, and maybe one day, someone will come a long who can mix his style with storytelling and become the greatest wrestler to ever have lived. He's a clear draw with an established fan base, and you can't take that way from him."

Purely from an athletic standpoint he's unquestionably on top of the world right now and will likely remain there as long as he continues to dominate the highlight reels when he returns from injury. He's still great and will go down as one of the most outstanding athletes to ever do it but if he's going to carve into Rushmore he really needs to bring the talking up to the same level as the moving."
