[2.0] "Perhaps one of the most boring wrestlers I ever had the displeasure of watching only thing keeping him from a 1 is he's very brief time as a pirate which I believe is the only thing that kept him relevant. From boring finishers to long boring matches during his ecw run and the few feuds he did have were lackluster and void of anything positive. I truly believe that there is no redeemable aspects to Burchill"

[7.0] "Paul Burchill's career is difficult to evaluate. If we talk about his achievements, championships or television appearances, we cannot highlight him much. However, if we only look at his in-ring work, we see a great seller and a very good worker. Yes, he is well remembered for his pirate gimmick, but check out Burchill in OVW around 2007 with his character of "The Ripper", by far the best of his entire career. Personally, Burchill is one of my favorite wrestlers and I hope to see him with gold around his waist in NWA (although the booking doesn't give me hope)."

[8.0] "Paul Burchill the ripper was slick, aggressive and generally remembered as BAR ROOM UGLY & FIGHT YOU CHAPS in promos, feuding with long veteran Drew McDonald that technically brawled much grace. As a pirate, flipping terribly done wrong. Cannot grow without a personality to make it work, thats why Jack Sparrow is remembered and he barely was. After all it is a thrill to see his entrance and rivalry with William Regal among Dave Taylor. Then years of spring fun went to long awaiting winter, pun intended where Paul and Katie Lea Burchill fell in love, PG era happened and the end of two WWE careers. NWA called up and wrestles there for a few opportunities on the US independents. Paul Birchill is still young and can build a fan base that can believably understand in the traditional wrestling background while infringe world of sport elements. Paul is talent and talent can get you far."

[8.0] "Paul Burchill is unfortunate to be known for his Pirate of the Caribbean knock-off gimmick and that weird implied incest gimmick he had for a while. But besides that Burchill was... pretty good. Not great, not outstanding but you know, pretty good. He was pretty good in the ring, showing a lot of all-around skills but being most comfortable as a mat technician, even if he could pull-off some athletic moves. I just don't ever remember him being a great promo guy, which would explain why he was given those outlandish gimmicks in a poor effort to make him stand out."

It sometimes got a little comedic but it seemed to work. Was so happy to see him in WWE. Unfortunately his skills weren't utilized fully there. Liked his little Tag run with Regal and also his Captain Sparrow-esq gimmick, but another case of WWE not knowing how good of a wrestler they really had with Birchill."

[8.0] "Very underrated talent who never got his due in WWE. A talented technical wrestler, a big man with the agility of a cruiserweight, decent mic skill and great natural charisma, good look... seemed like a can't-miss prospect that somehow WWE just never got behind. Even his pirate character, while silly, worked due to his spot-on imitation of Johnny Depp's mannerisms, and was getting over (supposedly it was only cut short because Vince "didn't get" the character and just assumed nobody else would either). The pirate may never have brought him to the main event on its own, but could have been a springboard to bigger things for him. His later heel character as "the Ripper" with Katie Lea at his side was also great and produced some fantastic matches with the Hurricane, yet never got out of the C-shows. Too bad he's largely out of the business today; he could have been big and I don't think it's through any fault of his own that he didn't get there."

[7.0] "A good worker that was completely underutilized by the WWE. So much potential from the "pirate" gimmick in 2006 to the "incest" angle with Katie Lea, this guy could of been given and received a lot by the WWE, but politics and bigger men in his time (2006-2008) is what caused him to get thrown under the bus and fired by the WWE by early 2010. He hasn't been seen or doing much since. Poor guy. :("

He had just about everything you could want in a wrestler, technical ability, high-flying ability, mic skill and the look (although I couldn't care less about that, that's for Vince's piece of mind), so why he wasn't pushed I'll never know."

[10.0] "To say that Burchill was underrated, and underused would be an understatement. Burchill was a heavyweight, who has one of the best technical wrestling games in the WWE. Before the WWE, he wrestled as a powerhouse, with incredible agility, hitting maneuvers that were typically associated with cruiserweights. He was good on the microphone, and had fantastic matches too. I still cannot comprehend why he didn't become one of the WWE's biggest stars."

[9.0] "To say that WWE dropped the ball with Paul Burchill is as big an understatement as calling the Mayan Apocalypse the worst apocalypse ever. When he was in FWA, he was booked to look like a british Ryback or Mike Awesome (ECW Mike that is), and along with having Dean Ayass to do the talking for him, he was mysterious & exciting to watch. When he wrestled, he was a powerhouse, but also an incredibly agile high flyer, pulling off standing shooting star presses, moonsaults that went all the way across the ring, and of course his C-4, which was a backflip uranage, and beautifully done. To say the least, his old squash matches make Ryback look really boring. Soon afterwards, WWE signed him, and then they had no idea what to do with him. They paired him with William Regal, because they're both British, worked okay. Then he was given a pirate gimmick, in which he borrowed a lot of influence from Jack Sparrow. The gimmick didn't get far, primarily because Vince McMahon never saw Pirates Of The Caribbean to know what he was doing. Then he was given an incest gimmick, which also involved ladies wrestler Katie Lea, it was seen as controversial, but it was also a rubbish way for them to be on TV. After that he was gone, and hasn't wrestled much since 2010. An unfortunate career with tons of hidden gold, possibly never to be found. 9 for the ringwork & potential, taking 1 off because we never saw it through to the end."

Burchill was used so terribly with some of the worst gimmicks I thought imaginable. Hopefully, he is or will be finding bigger and better things in the future."
