Bubba The Love Sponge

Bubba's character seemed to be that of a charisma-devoid, sexist & obese backstage interviewer whom would ask questions of wrestlers, & then proceed to rudely cut them off mid-answer before asking them the question again. He really did stick out like a sore thumb among fit, charisma-fueled people like Hogan, Waltman, Hall, or generally anybody he interviewed. Unfortunately, what would normally be an unremarkable 3/10 level character not even worth commenting on is deeply & irreversibly damaged by such severe personal & backstage issues that my sense of what a review even is was thoroughly challenged. We're talking about a guy whose radio show featured him & his guests/co-hosts referring to women as " c***s, " " dogs, " " pigs" & " w****s, " speaking poorly of Mexicans, African Americans & Islamists, hypothetically discussing & making a case for an openly racist president, & actively celebrating the deaths of over 200, 000 people in a natural disaster. He stoked such ire backstage that Mick Foley & Awesome Kong both hurt him for a shoot, the latter situation creating a prolonged, hateful IRL beef, replete with IRL harassment on Bubba's part that caused a temporary suspension to be instated upon Bubba during his only-5-month stay with TNA. Did the wrestling industry learn anything from this? Unfortunately, for the most part, the answer seems to be " absolutely not, " with the possible, lone exception of " Never, ever trust Hulk Hogan with anything. " Would the wrestling industry have been better off without Bubba's involvement? Definitely."

Also, a thank you to Awesome Kong for roughing him up for making tasteless comments. This guy, IDK where he's worse, in wrestling or on radio. The latter of which he has the perfect face for. But I digress. The only reason why this guy had a job in the business is because he was Hogan's buddy."

That alone tanked his credibility, not just with fans but with people in the locker room. He wasn't a character, a commentator, or a manager in any real sense--just a loud, toxic presence behind the scenes whose real contribution to wrestling was being a cautionary tale. The less said, the better, frankly"
