[8.0] "Not the crowd chanting "Thank you Charlotte", lol. This is one of my favourite women's matches. Just out of the blue, these two women started beating the hell out of each other. I mean, I could feel the exhaustion they felt during the match. I wish the dq could have happened a while later cause there was still enough tank for Flair to win the match before considering an alternative finish."

[9.0] "Recently re-watched this and it's as great as I remember. The match itself is easily an 8 but the post-match easily slides into the category of a 9. The narrative of the match is simple: Becky Lynch is injured and can't fight Rousey so chose Charlotte to take her place. Ronda just wants to catch The Queen in an armbar to win and Charlotte wants to win and prove that Smackdown is the superior brand. That's the narrative. However, the story of the match is rich and complex. Because of the aforementioned actions, Charlotte is essentially Becky's surrogate, and this bleeds into how the crowd respond to her, and Ronda, leading to a heated and incredibly charged atmosphere. All the action is brilliant; it's rough and realistic in all the right ways and has also got a great see-saw element to it with both women being in control at points. Then, of course, we get to the post-match action. Charlotte completely losing her mind and giving Ronda an utterly bonkers beatdown results in incredibly compelling footage. Also, in the best possible way, it just does not stop; you think it's about to end and then Charlotte gets even more worked up and attacks Ronda some more. Ronda, to her credit, doesn't shy away from any of it and the resulting welts and cuts on her body are brutal and immediately there for all to see. She also puts her ego to one side and convincingly sells all the damage as hard as she can. This is great stuff and this match alone is enough to remember Ronda's first run with the WWE with admiration."

A vicious, physical, and back and forth technical contest I simply enjoyed until that Kendo stick DQ finish which showed Charlotte heel side very on point. Charlotte in 2018 has been such a MVP that deserved so much credit when it comes to those banger matches she had with Asuka, Becky Lynch, Ruby Riott and Ronda Rousey. [****1/4]"

However, thanks to Charlotte Flair who brought an interesting psychology to the match, this was actually a good bout and the ending wasn't that bad, it told something interesting and Charlotte sold the rage well - ***1/4"

[10.0] "Another moment that helped build WrestleMania's first women's Main Event. This match is out of this world. The in-ring action is brutal, wonderfully constructed and the two very talented athletes deliver a huge and impressive battle. Of course, the highlight of the match is Charlotte's DQ, when she goes into a rage and reminds us what a monster she is, both in power and charisma. The physicality between the two and their chemistry has always been a pleasure to watch. It was this match that got me back into wrestling for good, and put Charlotte in my personal pantheon. One of the most impacting moment of this year, and maybe the greatest match."

Despite the DQ finish from Charlotte beating the holy hell out of Ronda, this is still a really fantastic match and the best one on one match these two have had against each other."

This match felt like a contest for both women not giving an inch and trying to get the win any means necessary.Submissions, grappling, great strikes, counters, amongst other maneuvers. The blood added to this match and showed how much they were giving it their all and the crowd had Becky chants turned to this is awesome chants.Wow what a Match!"

[9.0] "The pressure was on an all-time high when Rousey & Lynch were set to lock horns because they're two of the most popular acts of that period. Lynch's untimely wound created by an unsafe performer in Jax led to Charlotte, Lynch's best frenemy, taking the spot with a lot of weight on her shoulders. She stepped into a super hostile environment where Lynch was madly over with the fans. But those tables were toppled over by the dexterous combat displayed by both women. Rousey's plan on sticking to the ground with multiple submission attempts was exceptional while Charlotte's counters to those were fabulous. The tension & aggression increased for every minute, and it was a rare feeling. Until this match, there's barely a women's contest that created a surreal atmosphere like this. Marvelous build to the match was smashed out with a clever finish as both women were protected like diamonds at that period. The psychotic carnage Charlotte led was done greatly as well as letting Rousey know that her time is eventually up as the company's beloved rookie. Looking back at this chaotic bout now, I'm confident to say that this is THE best fight Rousey had in her WWE tenure till date! 4.25 out of 5 stars!"

Both she and Charlotte delivered big time and if you combine that with a hot crowd, it can be only one result and that's what we saw. Post-match stuff was also nicely executed and I think it was the first time that a crowd turned on Rousey due to an existence of Becky's "The Man" gimmick. One of the best female matches in 2018 and the second best match on this card."

They both would both try to constantly lock in submissions, but kept countering one another. Everything they did in this match was great the stiff shots, limb work and selling. The finish happens just as the match was about to hit that next level, Charlotte pm attack was great. Hopefully, they can replicate this at WM this yr.****1/4"
TheLegitBoss wrote on 18.12.2021:
[8.0] "Great physical fight between Flair and Rousey in this co-main event position just before the blockbuster match-up that would close this solid event, a match that obviously wasn't supposed to happen in the first place since Becky was the SmackDown Women's champion and was originally supposed to face Rousey here. However, the infamous Nia Jax injury meant that she was unable to compete on the show and so Charlotte ended up taking her place. Which seemed like a good decision at the time even if it didn't please her many haters and I still think it was the right call as Becky wasn't cleared that night, of course the ending was already scaring us in advance as we could feel the messy booking coming but in the end it wasn't that disturbing. The match itself was obviously excellent, everything they did was simple but so effective with fantastic work from both of them and a hot crowd completely invested from start to finish. The DQ finish is obviously a bit annoying as we would have liked a few more minutes and a real clean finish, however Charlotte's post-match freak out was badass as hell. One of the best matches of Rousey's career, obviously."

However, the match was cut in the middle and the peak didn't ever happen. It's a shame they never could have a proper match with a great finish."
Oregano Jackson wrote on 28.12.2020:
[8.0] "Not the 5-star classic that Michael Cole was rambling about in the finish but still a very physical battle that I really enjoyed. The first half was truly great, with both women displaying a lot of urgency in everything they were doing. Rousey's arm bar transitions throughout the match were sensational - although she did do a couple of very sloppy looking arm drags - while Charlotte was amazing too - that spear she gave Ronda was soo damn good. The finishing stretch lacked any form of energy or crowd investment and that really brought the overall quality of the match down but again, I thought both women worked very hard to create something memorable. Charlotte ruled here, it had been a while since I hadn? t seen her as agressive as she was in this matchup! She managed to adapt herself to Rousey style as soon as it started and she would disqualify herself I was underwhelmed at first but given they? d already intended to put her on the Main Event of Mania it became understanding. Both women were able to salvage Becky? s injury and I think Ronda has made her best performance in this clash !"

Not to undermine's Ronda's impressive performance, it's crazy to think that she only debuted 7 months ago, THIS IS HER ROOKIE YEAR. Great match that tells a captivating and logical story, coupled with brutal, convincing wrestling. A highlight match in both women's careers."

[5.0] "Why is a big four ppv being used as fodder for a future match, have Ronda beat Naomi or something if you don't want to put someone over. This match was carried by Charlotte with Ronda having an exposed limited arsenal as she cycled through 3 moves most of the match, Charlotte's work dragged this match up and gave it excitement the peak being that spear however most of the work was uninspired and flat for an alleged dream match. Still some of the submission work was good too."
sweetshinmusic wrote on 26.11.2018:

This was incredibly physical and had the feel of a grudge match despite being the result of a last minute booking change. However, it's the aftermath that will really live long in the memory. The beat down was vicious. Charlotte was relentlessly cruel and Rousey took a serious amount of punishment which is probably why she looked so devastated by the negative reaction she got from fans afterwards."

[5.0] "It is a very overrated match. The match is very slow, but it has a discret narrative flow and a good intensity. Rousey's selling is very very bad, in fact she doesn't sell the Charlotte's targeting to her leg. The final hasn't great sense because Charlotte fighted well and she had good chance to win in a keyfabe view: she didn't need to be squalified. Ronda Rousey has to learn how to wrestle from Charlotte: she has a clumsy style and not good to see. ***"

[9.0] "It was one of the matches of the year! Both of them did a hell of a bout, they had very good shots, drama, they worked great. Charlotte is one of the female division's symbols and I was sure they would work well with Ronda. There was a lot of submission holds, great wrestling and some stiff shots. Definitely this was Ronda's best match in WWE, she's getting better every day. It was a very tense bout up until the end. The match finish with the disqualification can be said to be logical in order to preserve the legitimacy of both, and it also helped to rebuilt Charlotte as a world class competitor. The beating after that was uglier than expected, very cruel and brutal, my hat off to Ronda that she had agreed to suffer so many strikes and such humiliation. So far no one has ever beaten her so bad in the WWE. Charlotte just snapped and I look forward to their next meeting (probably at WrestleMania). ****1/2"

[9.0] "I am so fucking proud of my girl Charlotte who now establish herself as a big match performer. She was so great in the match. This was different from usual wwe match structures. This felt a like a fight. I also give credit for Ronda who continues to surprise me every match she wrestles. She did good job targeting the arms while Charlotte focused on the leg and did the figure 4. A lot of great counters and technical wrestling in the match made me excited. Match was well-paced with no single dull moment and crowd was into it. Hard to choose between this and the Main as MOTN. I didn't expect the post match angle but I thought it was the right choice to re-define Charlotte's character. The smarky crowd in LA booed Ronda which was poor and I felt bad for her. Great fucking match overall Charlotte has all 3 best women matches on MR so far. I don't doubt her about her ability to work with lesser workers at all."

Some awesome duel limb work with Ronda going for the arm and Charlotte going for the leg along with some great selling from Ronda (And Charlotte too). This was very intense and some parts were nasty and brutal like the snug spear from Charlotte. Liked this a ton. The finish was awesome too, job well done. ****1/4"

The problem is that she's too forward the others. The second part, vote: 0. I'd like to see an end sometime. A lose is not the end of the career. They have to take notes from NJPW."

Great brawl and as it typical for women's matches showed more psychology than a normal WWE match. Rhoda's best performance in WWE yet. Charlotte played the subtle heel and by the end she did a full blown turn, this is good because heel Charlotte is so much more fun. ***1/4"

[8.0] "The match between these two begins (and ends) in a brawl. After a submission exchange, Charlotte throws Ronda into the bottom turnbuckle and she eats it (busting her mouth open in the process). She proceeds to work Rousey's left leg in anticipation for the figure-eight, utilizing a volley of kicks and submissions to do so. There's a great sequence where she attempts the moonsault, Ronda counters/rolls through with her but is speared in the process for a near-fall. At one point, Rousey performs a draping armbar from the apron which is broken up. Charlotte locks in the figure-four, it's reversed, and reversed again to drop the women to the outside. A bit later, Charlotte hits Rousey with some devastating chops to stumble her back into the corner. The finish comes when Charlotte hammers Rousey with a kendo stick for a DQ. A post-match beatdown ensues with another kendo stick and a Pillmanizer. It could've gone a bit longer, but that's small potatoes. Remarkable given the short notice. ****1/4"
