Ishii did his best to keep the match going but it was too long. They could have cut a few of the repetitive suplexes. It didn't need to be 17 minutes. Ishii might have no sold a tiny bit too much but I can understand as the forearm strikes were pretty weak. JJ needs to get out of the country and wrestle with other promotions if he is ever going to take it to the next level."

Ishii is past his prime but can still do a great match with the right opponent, this wasn't that."

[9.0] "This match ruled ! JJ Gales one of my favourites in the RevPro scene and Ishii at the copper box always seems to have a banger. I went into this match fully expecting a gale win leading to Luke vs Gale for the belt. The in ring action was traditional Ishii which was awesome! The crowd matched the excitement and the stiff strikes and headbutts from Ishii were awesome and Gale matched him. The gale force made me think that was going to be the finish but out of nowhere Ishii kicked out and came back. Not sure where JJ Gale goes from here though which is a slight downside but Im sure Andy Quildan will find a way to book him back into the main event scene."

And, after some trademark lazy no-sell business, props to the Stone Pitbull too for bumping hard for Gale's highlight reel ***1/2"

Who got over in defeat, quite similar to Luke Jacobs last year and look what happened to him in a year! Really fun match, Ishii is the best at what he does, no one sells like he does."

[7.0] "Listen, this was a really really good match, but the one complaint I had about it ruined a lot of the show for me, Ishii was super over and for good reason, hes amazing and been doing this a long time for British fans. A true icon for us, but the fact it had the same spots over and over essentially just made it drag on a little too long for my liking and after the following few matches doing similar things it killed a lot of my excitement by the main event because JJ Gale isnt that over, he shouldnt be taking this long to beat and trying to mount comebacks because not many are buying into it! I didnt like how long this went but the actual meat of the match and semi-story told was good."

[9.0] "Here's where the show really kicked into high gear, and of course, it's the Heart and Soul putting on a barnburner with the Stone Pitbull. For all the bad discourse of Ishii over the past few weeks, he really is effective with the simple psychology of being a brick wall that the underdog has to chip away at, which Gale did with aplomb. Ishii "doesn't sell"? Well, yeah, that's the entire point of his aura."

He's maybe not the easiest person to wrestle given his straightforward style, but there was at least some good striking and suplexes."

Ishii is the most reliable wrestler in the world but JJ Gale performed very well too for what has to be one of, if not, the greatest match he's had. Great showing."

Ishii is Ishii and one of the few NJPW lads who always put his working boots on in the UK. I like that Ishii is the roadblock you face when you are trying to break out the midcard. You might not beat him but you will come out stronger for it. Jacobs lost last year to him and look at him now"

[10.0] "You'd think I would eventually grow numb to Ishii's repetitive and constant awesomeness, but nope, he had me losing my mind for the upteenth time, this time against JJ Gale. Gale used some super cool moves, a few of which I don't remember seeing from the only other time I saw him (against Luke Jacobs from earlier this year). I'm obviously a giant fan of Ishii's style and pacing, so it's possible others won't love this one quite as much as me, but even if you're not a big Ishii fan this is still worth going out of your way to see. ****3/4"
