[8.0] "Terrific ppv main event and performances from bloth men. Roddy punching Briscoe's bloody wound, intense submission sequences, , clear face/heel, dynamic, so much to like about this classic style main event. Interference hampered this a little, wasn't the most logical, but was fine overall. Briscoes 4 lyfe baby. ****1/4"
[6.0] "The match doesn't live up to the promo package that opens it. This feels like a very typical match for both men. Even the sight of blood feels out of place as the match leading up to that moment doesn't really call for it. Things speed up closer to the end but no to a degree that really fixes the slog of the first half"
[7.0] "The first half or so of the match was kinda just there, and even in the last half there were lulls. But there was plenty of good stuff in the back half as well. Didn't feel 'must watch' to me."
[8.0] "This was a great match. Mark Briscoe had one of the biggest wins of his career when he beat Eddie Kingston at Supercard of Honor for the ROH Championship, 11 years to the day that his brother Jay won the title. Roderick Strong was part of the Undisputed Kingdom, and for a while was the defacto singles star of the group with Adam Cole on the injured list. Both men were old school ROH originals, so this felt like a throwback to the early days of the promotion, focusing on how Mark has grown as a singles star and is no longer in the shadow of his brother and Strong. This was a great main event, with some nice spots and counters, as well as Mark bleeding off of a ring post shot. Matt Taven and Mike Bennett did come out to try to interfere, but it didn't work and soon enough were beaten to the back by Kyle O'Reilly and Tomohiro Ishii, who were screwed out of the ROH Tag Team Championships earlier in the night. Mark then retained the title by hitting Froggie Bow. ****1/4"
[5.0] "Mark and Strong have a far bit of previous matches with each other, so they were bound to click nicely with each other. I really liked that Mark ran the blade, he always does in a way that his entire face is covered by red which suit him so well. Strong played his role well which really helped the crowd get really into Mark's comeback. Its a solid match that drops off a bit near the end."
[9.0] "[4.25*] The first World Title match from the TK Enterprises in 2024 to receive a 9/10 rating here from me. In my opinion this was the best one, but even if you think another one like Ospreay vs Swerve was better in terms of workrate, this surely felt more special, with a ton of nostalgia acts. This match made me travel back in time to 2000s ROH, my favorite period ever in North-Americans wrestling. Every single small thing looked beautiful here, the punches, the chops, the selling because these guys are real workers who learnt everything from the craft. They are not cosplayers, they are professional fucking wrestlers, and this is the reason why a loved it so much. The blade job from Mark was gorgeous, beautiful, it was awesome, and the visual on this beautiful looking Arena helped everything. I loved the ending stretch with one of the only kickout at 1 spots that legit made me pop because this was perfect for the story. Roddy disrespected Jays legacy and he got punished for it afterwards. Both Roddy false finishes were stupendous and I really thought he was going to win after that Sick Kick, specially because it was his birthday and Mark had just kicked-out of the attack with the belt. An incredible match with the OG ROH structure that I love. I felt a lot of things watching this one, something that is becoming kind of rare nowadays. Real. Wrestlers."
[8.0] "I hope Roderick Strong one day gets his flowers as one of the greatest of all time. To me, he most certainly is among them. From his technical prowess to his physicality to his cardio to his catalog of classics, there are few who compare to The Messiah of the Backbreaker. This was the latest in a long line of entries to his case for all-time status. Across the ring, Mark Briscoe further cemented himself as one of the best babyfaces in all of professional wrestling. His uncanny ability to connect with the crowd is matched only by his unique combination of high-level wrestling ability and the unteachable trait of being effortlessly entertaining. Together, they made magic here. This was a brutal slugfest that saw both of these Ring of Honor legends throw bombs until the very end. It was also a match that epitomized the importance of the minor details. Strong placing his elbow across Briscoe's bicep while pinning him to gain additional leverage on his cover. Strong arrogantly smiling to the crowd after hitting The Jay Driller as the commentary team perfectly mentions the, "Mark is the weaker Briscoe, " narrative that followed him for so long, thus opening the door for one of the best one-count kickouts I've ever seen. A generational crimson mask that added fuel to the already raging fire of this story. This is Ring of Honor. 4.25 stars, 8.5 out of 10. What a finish."
[10.0] "This has become my comfort match from this year. Top 5 match of the year for me easily. Mark's babyface and Roddy's heel dynamic is so classic. Mark's blade job is so moving. Creating some of the best imagery of the whole year. *****"
[10.0] "This was a classic ROH match in every sense, which is fitting considering that Mark and Roddy arguably represent ROH better than anyone. Both guys went at it with all they could, hard striking, playing mind games with the other, just desperate to outdo their opponent. This had everything you could want in an ROH main event. Honor lives forever."
[8.0] "Short match with a simple structure, but extremely enjoyable to watch... Briscoe and Roddy didn't tried to overthink and did what they do best here in the main event, I loved the style, the punches and the blade job were incredible, a very old-school match in many ways, but also with greatly executed modern spots, like the kickout at 1 after the Jay Driller, which unfortunately because of the misuse of the spot isn't something mindblowing or unique, but it worked and it felt special, it told a story, and that's what matter, they've teached those young guys with this one. Roddy disrespected Jay's legacy, and they just played with that story and made the crowd and the audience interested and captivated. I'm not a fan of the interferences that set up a match at Dynamite, not ideal to use a PPV main event to build something at your weekly show in other brand, but it was definitely great to watch the Kingdom getting satisfactorily beaten and Mark getting the win at the end - {****}"
[9.0] "This ruled so much. Everything after Mark gets cut open is just pure fireworks. Roddy reminds why he is one of the absolute greats when it comes to unleashing offense; the way his onslaught feels suffocating is amazing. Everything from the chops, to the punches, to the big power moves, to the stomps and even the holds. Amazing. Mark rocks the crimson mask beautifully & his overall performance coming from underneath is great."
[8.0] "Interesting match with both excellent babyface and heel performance. The action could have featured slightly more Backbreakers given Strong although it's still super solid, I wasn't a fan of the ending but that being said that was still an enjoyable 20 minutes main-event. ****1/4"
[7.0] "The overbooking was a bit much in my opinion and held back what would have otherwise been a very good match. Still this match was still very good, I just feel that the booking let it down some."
[10.0] "I will NEVER get tired of a heel stealing a face's finish out of disrespect and the face kicking out at 1, it's awesome every time and the best 1-count variant. But anyway this is Roddy working on top in an ROH main event and making his opponent bleed, and that opponent being Mark Briscoe, so you know this was going to be a heavy-handed and crisply-worked main event in the best way. Mark is unbelievable in this match, taking a nasty beating over and over and still coming back to fight and as always struggling to get the Jay Driller off to honor his brother and going to the tried and true Froggy Bow to show he's able to win on his own merits in the end. This is a vibe this title hasn't had since before Cole's 2nd reign. ****1/2"
[8.0] "A good main event for the legacy of ROH. The overbooking wasn't necessary at all and I was kind of disappointed they chose the easy way for this match. Strong and Briscoe still can deliver in 2024 and it's great."
[8.0] "mark briscoe is the perfect roh world champion. This match freaking rules and im excited for whats next. This whole show has made me a weekly viewer. 4.25 stars"
[8.0] "This is the definition of Ring of Honor. Two dudes who fucking love Pro Wrestling and show it through working extremely, almost unbelievably hard in moments like this. You can tell how much this meant to both guys. Mark bled like a mad man and it didn't slow down once it started pouring. Such a great feel good ending as well. Loved this one a lot. **** 1/2"
[5.0] "I really did not enjoy this match. Very disappointed after all the hype I heard, and after enjoying almost everything else about this show. The story of this match was that Mark was the 3rd fiddle between Jay and Roderick and after this match, I don't think Mark proved that notion wrong. Roderick had such a short international title run, cut short by Will Ospreay (who also had his reign cut short by MJF), and now they sent Roderick back to ROH to do a job for Mark. Not pleased at all with this booking. Mark is simply not a singles star and is at his best in big tag matches"
[9.0] "Fantastic physicality was dished out between these two from beginning to end. The crimson mask was a great angle for Mark to play off from as being the sympathetic fighting champ that the audience could get more invested in from someone who they are already emotionally invested in, and it gave another dimension to the match instead of just being an awesome physical bout. The match was elevated from awesome to great. ****1/2"
[9.0] "This is one of my favourite matches of the year so far. Both of these performers are getting far too little love as theyve both been brilliant all year. But this match was exceptional. Everything made sense, the work was solid and hard hitting without either person looking like they were going to die. They told the story incredibly and this for me is a genuine MOTY candidate. A work of art."
[7.0] "Roderick Strong deserves a ton of credit for what he has given to AEW/ROH since being signed. He does nothing but work his ass of in the ring and make everyone in there look a level or two above their ability. Mark Briscoe has essentially taken on the Moxley role of bleeding buckets for his company and just being a never-say-die competitor. The pieces worked together here and the connection to the history of ROH wasn't ignored either. There were some flaws in the match. The Kingdom/Conglomeration involvement was a little too sports-enterainey for my tastes and I would have preferred to see the Jay-Driller finish the match."
[7.0] "Enjoyable match, seems a bit overrated to me but even so it was a fun watch. Mark Briscoe has done very well as a singles guy and his blade job added a lot of spice to this, which was needed since I found Roderick pretty bland as usual."
[7.0] "Mark Briscoe is a world-class babyface, regardless of real life loss and the natural sympathy it brings. His physical work is explosive and he has a genuine connection with the fans few can replicate. Roderick Strong is an incredibly dependable performer, but he seemed to be phoning it in somewhat here. All the outside interference on this show was lowest common denominator sports entertainment at its most tedious ***1/2"
[9.0] "In many ways, a pretty moving watch. This clearly meant the world to both grapplers and if a right setting exists for this matchup in 2024, they found it here. The crowd was lively but in a visually unflattering environment, the show was already four hours deep, but Honor remained real. There's no fat to trim here, pushing the pace and producing immense drama in their 20-minute runtime. As expected, the physicality is a constant highlight, walloping each other at every turn. Watching live, this felt like a contender for Briscoe's career best singles match, and a rewatch didn't convince me that was necessarily off base, either. Superb main event to close an incredibly strong PPV, two timeless grapplers at their absolute best. ****1/2"
[9.0] "4.75/5. This was incredible. Super physical through the whole thing and it was worked with purpose. Nothing was wasted in this match. Marks blade job was super effective for me which I dont feel like I say a lot anymore. Mark was just ultra babyface in this I was rooting for him so hard and this shit was awesome. I was ready to rip my shirt off and run through a wall when Mark kicked out at 1. This was just a classic ROH match."
[8.0] "Obviously this was gonna be great, just look at who is involved. Roddy and Mark are probably two of the best workers on the world and while this wasn't as good as I'd hoped, it was still great and the second best of the night for me. Punches and chops from both guys looked great, Roddy's heel work was great and Mark's ability to work as an underdog and garner sympathy from the crowd, with the help of one hell of a bladejob, is near unparalleled. The only thing for me that's holding this back from being better is the dumb interference spot near the end. This match didn't need interference and I find it so stupid how Taven interferes on behalf of Roddy by attempting to hit a move on Mark which would result in a DQ and cause Mark to retain. Regardless though, this was still a great match but without that stupid interference spot, it could've been a lot better. ****"
[9.0] "Fantastic main event that felt like a 2000s era Ring of Honor show closer. Briscoe put in a Terry Funk like performance driving the crowd to rally behind him with a gutsy effort. The blood added quite a lot to this one, while Roddy Strong was excellent throughout and paced this one splendidly. ****1/2"
[9.0] "Despite receiving a short time and attention in the mainstream broadcast, this rivalry crunched in a lot of history between these two and their journey to where they are currently. Harkening back to the nostalgic significance, this match had a wild atmosphere, unlike the rest of the card from the get-go. Both men fought tooth and nail, blistered heavy strikes, and even led to a crimson mask endorsed by the champion. Strong thrived and delivered his best showing in a long time while Briscoe's adored character played so well in eyeing him as a fantabulous underdog. Even though the interferences were a bit much, it didn't shy away from the fact that it's far from over. 4.25 out of 5 stars!"
[7.0] "Good match, although I didn't connect with it as much as people in general did. It was a very physical match with an emotional weight that, in my opinion, didn't reach the necessary heights due to the lack of buildup. Nevertheless, I applaud the effort of both wrestlers, though I would have loved to see Roderick as champion once more"
[8.0] "Thought this one was borderline great. Certainly, a bit too nostalgia pilled for sure, but there's a lot of good in here. Roddy is great as always pushing the pace, and Mark is a fantastic crowd favorite underdog. A fantastic-looking blade job, and some well-timed comeback spots sold me on Mark retaining pretty quick. Chops were great from both guys too. I don't really love the interference too much, and there are some moments that kinda dragged a bit for me too. 4 stars overall, but I'd totally get if this was something you loved. 4 Stars."
[7.0] "There's only so much drama you can get out on such a short build and in a promotion that is perpetually cold and with Roderick Strong who is never a real contender but they did well enough all things considered. Mark Briscoe is a great pick to be ROH world champ, I just wish there was more to it than seemingly biding time till someone else can take the title."
[7.0] "Mark Briscoe is brilliant. He is everything you want to see in a ROH match, and like Athena is someone that's so deserving of a big AEW TV push but is being limited because of issues unrelated to talent. Briscoe did everything he was able to make this match exciting and dramatic. He bumped like crazy, he sold like crazy, he did big offensive spots, he gigged and bled for the business. And deservedly, Briscoe won in the end. But a match is more than one participant, and more than just an average of its whole. Roddy Strong is the opposite of Mark Briscoe. He's slow, he doesn't bump even for big PPV matches, his offense is cold and boring, and he does little to put his opponents over. When Briscoe wasn't a focus of attention, Roddy made this match difficult to watch. You may as well watch a Roddy match from Rampage and you'd have gotten everything he provided in this match in equal measure. And, of course, because Roddy himself isn't able to create the drama needed for a great finish, the Undisputed Kingdom runs out at the end and interferes to hit Briscoe over the head with a belt. Briscoe manages to get up nearly immediately and score the win. Another absolutely abysmal finish, a second immediately after the previous match on the card did something nearly identical. Easily the worst ROH PPV I've watched post-AEW acquisition because of this bs."
[9.0] "Fantastic match between these two. Briscoe and Roddy know each other very well and therefore were able to put on an excellent main event match. The storytelling was really good with Mark wanting to prove Roddy he could held his own at the top and the in-ring action was neat as well. Mark might have the best bladejob in the game, his crimson masks always look crazy. Roddy's offense was tremendous as always, his backbreakers were painful to watch and his chops were brutal. There's a kickout at one spot which was earned and didn't feel out of place here with Roddy hitting the J-driller and Mark kicking out at one. Just wish Mark's comeback afterwards was a bit more impactful. The final minutes were amazing with the UK and The Conglomeration's interference. Mark survives a shot with the belt and then hits the froggy bow for the win. Great, great match. It really felt like a prime ROH main event in the early 2000s. The vibes, the small crowd, everything. Not many people realize this but both guys are amongst the top 10 best wrestlers in the world right now. 9/10 - 4.75*/5*"
[8.0] "Felt like a 2000s ROH main event restored and put into HD. It has a nostalgic feeling from the intimate, yet rabid crowd atmosphere and 2 Ring of Honor legends. A slow build escalation with some of the best chops I've seen in a while. A gritty throwback in the best way possible."
[9.0] "Amazing match, pretty much the match of the night hands down. Really felt like an old school ROH bout. I know Jay is proud of what Mark has done as a singles wrestler. His run as the ROH champion has been a fun experience and it continues here in this match. Theres something special about the energy and passion that Mark wears on his sleeve night in and night out. It makes you want to root for him. It makes you want him to be successful. It makes you believe that if you stay strong, good things will eventually happen. I cannot discredit Roddy but at this point all of us here knows that when its time to put on a show, he delivers. The visual of a bloody Mark Briscoe hoisting the ROH championship in the air was so dope. After a close call with the Kingdom, I truly thought Roddy was going to actually win. Honestly though, the right call was made. I had a hell of a time watching this unfold; and you should definitely check it out if youre on the fence. An incredibly strong closer for what was already another great ROH PPV."
[9.0] "Two long time ROH guys going for the title in the main event. While nothing else on the card felt like original Ring of Honor, this sure did, and it was well worth it, with Mark Briscoe enduring an onslaught from Roderick Strong to retain. Wrestling will suffer when this generation of wrestlers retire."
[9.0] "This one is a must see in my Opinion. A real master class of in ring storytelling mixed in with tremendous action. You could tell that Roderick and Mark have a lot of experience working together because this match felt seamless. Every big spot laid out just right. Mark kicking out of the Jay Driller at One was both a great pop from the crowd and masterful use of the concept of "moves matter". I also thought that Mark winning with the Froggy Bow instead of the Jay Driller was a great symbolic touch and showed Mark forging his own legacy. Really beautiful match and everything I love about wrestling."
