7 | 16.03.2025 | ReiEscobar | 9.0 | You can see here a star borning in NJPW and I'm not talking about Konosuke Takeshita, he already born at DDT (yes, it wasn't AEW). Just like Hiroshi Tanahashi was the John Cena for NJPW, Yuya Uemura will be the Ricky Steamboat for NJPW, his old style of fighting is really enjoyable, and matches perfectly with Konosuke Takeshita current style of wrestling. Also, his connection with the crowd is already incredible at this age and he just need to keep improving his "explosion" to be a better wrestler when it comes to in ring abilities, and I don't want to be that uthopic fan but...it's too much to think about Yuya Uemura vs Bryan Danielson? |
8 | 18.02.2025 | FelipeTalksGraps | 8.0 | [4.0*] The best match of the tournament until now just had to be from Takeshita. Also, this G1 is doing wonders for Yuya as he is stepping up as the 2nd best musketeer now when he is not even an official musketeer. Such a successful run until this point for him. This match was very smart and cool-looking, with high quality from start to finish. Yuya has always been great on the 1st half of matches so of course this would work, my surprise came at the ending stretch where he stepped up and did a great job on keeping it emotional and dramatic, something that surely did not happen in that Hair vs Hair match against Yota lmao. The finish was also pretty good and highly antecipated. |

12 | 24.12.2024 | joethom | 9.0 | The Yuya Uemura Ive been patiently waiting to see was finally brought out for at least this match by Konosuke Takeshita. This match was built off the six man from the All Together Again show where Takeshita looked monstrous opposite Uemuras team, pinning him to win. Uemura eating Takeshitas desperate headbutts and hitting the Kanuki Suplex with a great bridge on it to win. Awesome match, better than Tsuji vs Takeshita. |

20 | 18.11.2024 | mandraker | 9.0 | My favorite match of the G1. Yuya's work on the left arm is basic but extremely effective and have a few sparkles of innovation, like the following roll up at he beginning of the match. Konosuke's selling really show Yuya's strenghts. Konosuke continue to be insanely good in every aspect of a match. The only bad aspect of the match was the crowd which was a bit quite for a main event. |

33 | 12.09.2024 | thedr7q | 9.0 | Yuya's style took time to grow on me, because I wasn't expecting such an amateur wrestling twist on strong style. The image of Takeshita trying desperately to kick out of the Deadbolt at the end but failing because Yuya has it locked in perfectly really puts Uemura over as someone who can beat anyone, even if they're stronger or more athletic, purely because his technique is unbeatable. |
34 | 05.09.2024 | LincolnAntoine4482 | 7.0 | So Yuya is just going to accelerate right past Tsuji and Shota off the back of the G1 eh? He has been absolutely killing the opportunities he has had and this time he got to work with one of the top wrestlers in the world. They have really good chemistry. The Deadbolt suplex is a really cool finish. |
35 | 05.09.2024 | danzitorock | 8.0 | This match was absolutely phenomenal, the best match of the tournament so far, incredible stuff, Takeshita can't miss, he's doing the matches of every night he's in, and everyone had huge expectations for this one, Yuya Uemura in the main event against Take, and he delivered big time, he's back and showing why he can belong into the main event scene, fantastic performance by both men, it looked like a Wrestle Kingdom match at some parts, there was a sequence that blew my mind, awesome wrestling match, started slow and calculated, and ended with frenetic sequences and nearfalls - {****} |

47 | 14.08.2024 | masontillidie | 8.0 | Yuya Uemura has got big potential as a babyface by presenting an inherent struggle in each of his matches. I thoroughly enjoy watching as he pulls off some smart limb work, chipping away at Takeshita to put himself in a position to hit the Deadbolt, a unique finisher that looks legitimately difficult to kick out of. As much as I like Take's babyface work, he's an excellent base for any babyface due to his size, athleticism and instincts. Yuya's arm drags are a thing of beauty. |

63 | 09.08.2024 | WAKA Flockanoku | 9.0 | I loved this match. Uemura basically uses his innate wrestling knowledge to survive Takeshita's bombardment and eek out a victory in a match that genuinely felt like it could have gone either way. Great work from both men in the best match of the tournament so far. |

68 | 07.08.2024 | Jacek2002 | 10.0 | Match of the tournament so far from two big candidates for MVP of the tournament. Yuyas progression in these matches has been awesome to see, I had a lot of criticisms for his matches earlier in the year as it seemed like his timing was weird, hed kill momentum in matches. This tournament its all clicked though, his arm work was great and only made better by Takeshita who deserves huge props, still looking strong while being really consistent with selling his arms. Awesome underdog win. Only gripe I have with this match and with any time something like this happens in wrestling, but a fully extended armbar should be something guys get out of in seconds, either getting to the rope or locking arms otherwise you should tap, its not a wrestling submission like the figure 4. ****3/4 |

70 | 06.08.2024 | Animago | 9.0 | A fantastic match with Uemura using his mastery of wrestling fundamentals and fighting spirit to survive Takeshita's explosive offense and progressively wear him down, focusing on the arms. It is so refreshing to see this kind of clash of styles in modern NJPW, Uemura is exceeding expectations in this G1 and Takeshita demonstrated alll the range of his wrestling, with consistent selling and attention to details that elevated both him and Uemura. |

Can't wait to see where he goes from here. ****1/4 |
