This is her first match after her very serious injury so I will blame that for the lack of quality in this match. You could see very early on after a Headlock how Baker just stumpled into the corner. Also the Flatliner into the corner was 90% of Shida just throwing herself into the turnbuckle. But Hikaru did a good job being the antagonist (and paying tribute to one of Kiryus special attacks in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games) in Bakers Comeback match. Let's see how Britt does when she gets rid of her ringrust. |

But this showed that she is still not up to the task. The whole match was a sloppy mess. Shida who is usually decent was struggling as well for some reason probably because of Britt being so average at cooperating. They were trying that roll up pin exchanging spot and it looked so weird and ugly because it was so disjointed. Shida gets majority of the offense. She keeps up the offense for more than half the match when Britt turns things around with a neckbreaker and a slingblade. She tries to lock her submission lockjaw multiple times but Shida evades it. In the end she succeeds with her submission and Shida taps out. Mercedes comes out to a shower of boos. She distracts Britt before Kamille makes her long awaited appearance. But the crowd didn't care at all. They were all silent at her appearance. Probably most of them didn't know her. |

It starts pretty slow but as it gets going, both women start showing great chemistry. I love the crowds reception to these two. The end was pretty anti-climatic and the Mercedes tease was inevitable. That feud will likely come through based on Britt's recent performance and honestly, Britt being champion is pretty justified at this point. Shida is alright here but definitely the afterthought compared to Britt here, who's the main focus of the story |

I have a terrible feeling Shida was the wrong match for Britt to come back on. They came back from the break and the pace picked up a little. Some of the sequences were better than others and some were poor. Eventually Britt grabbed the LockJaw and took the win via tap out. Im going to be honest, the match was alright but seemed to have pacing issues throughout. This match serves as reminder of how far AEW womens division has come on. Britt certainly has the opportunity to push on. Shida looks like she has plateaued. 5/10 |
