[3.0] "I just didn't like this match at all. Davey Boy Smith Jr. is not built for this environment at all and stinks up the joint while Funaki does his best to get an acceptable match, but ultimately fails."

[5.0] "[2.5*] This was very slow paced too, but it had a pretty dope ending that I really loved. The reversal from Funaki connecting the Heel Hook after the submission by DBSJr was incredible."

[6.0] "Another slow paced battle here in the event, but this time with a lot of emotion at the end, Funaki is an experienced legend and his matchup here with DBS Jr. worked extremely well, lots of catch wrestling, and smart transitions. The ending saw both men gaining momentum and being more desperate to outsmart each other, that was really really good - {**3/4}"

[5.0] "DBS Jr does not excel at this. Funaki basically just schooled him on the mat, DBS also kept putting himself in positions where Funaki could and probably should have just kneed his face off."

[6.0] "A methodical match, but Funaki and DBS Jr. are effortlessly cool here, and they put together a cool finish too. 3 Stars."

[7.0] "Man, I loved that finish so much that I had to go a full point over. Yeah, the match wasn't the most exciting thing on the planet, but you can't deny it was well-worked. The sharpshooter going into a leg lock was incredible, though. I really wish this was a full-time promotion so we could follow this kind of match."

[5.0] "This wasn't much, but did close with a terrific finish. Otherwise, it's a very patient affair, taking it slow outside of brief burst or two. It's the kind of match that in a vacuum, comes and goes without much fanfare but within the show's context, quietly establishes a norm for bigger matches to explode from. **1/2"

[5.0] "Somewhat similar to Sato vs Hideki in how it was built around patience and technique, however it lacked the excitement and key spots for me. DBS Jr trying to pass the mount was cool and I dug the finish but this was just a unspectacular. **1/2"

[7.0] "This was fun. They were on the mat for like 90% of the match and it was all Davey tryna get a hold of Funaki but Funaki calmly and easily stops everything. Funaki never went for the offense on the mat and just casually defended himself and schooled Davey. If he was aggressive on the mat, he would've finished off Davey within seconds. Davey invites him for a stand up and gets hit with some stiff kicks, Davey retaliated with an elbow followed by a back drop driver. He goes for the sharp shooter and the moment he turned Funaki to complete the submission, Funaki traps him in the heel hook for the win."

[6.0] "I enjoyed it, mostly cause seeing Funaki is just awesome. People really rag on DBS but as much as I don't care for him is the ring I feel he works a lot better in shoot style. Not an amazing match but still fun, the ending was also pretty funny."

[4.0] "Another painfully boring and forgettable DBS Jr. performance, sometimes it feels like he's trying to get all these matches just to tell impressionable randoms about all of his 'accomplishments' or whatever. Funaki calmly defended DBS Jr.'s 'attacks' in the beginning, turned things around and quickly forced him to tap out. A match that happened."
