I'm not the biggest fan of Jey's in ring work but he is really over with the crowd and that's what matters more. The crowd goes absolutely nuts for him and not just during his entrance. Maybe he needs a a couple more moves but he has been okayish minus his match with his brother at WM XL."

This really made Gunther look strong and thankfully it didn't have a wacky ending like the first one. [***1/2]"

[8.0] "This was a great match. Jey Uso is one of the most over wrestlers in WWE, which is a testament to his ability to connect with the fans. To be fair, his involvement in the Bloodline probably had a lot to do with that. Gunther's road to the World Heavyweight Championship began with the King of the Ring, which I'm glad they brought back as a major show. If his matches with Roman Reigns showed us anything, it's that Jey is great at getting beat down and making comebacks that the fans really get behind, which is what he did here. Even with his right arm useless, he still fought with his left hand. Spot of the match for me was the a super Samoan Drop from the middle rope. The finish had Jey spear Gunther, but the referee was knocked down in the process. He went for the Samoan Splash, but the referee was slow to get to the count and by the time he did, Gunther kicked out. Then Gunther beat down Jey and used his arm to put him in the rear naked choke for the win. ****"

[7.0] "[3.25*] Great match and one of the best in Jey Usos singles career, at least post pandemic. His selling on the right hand was actually excellent, he was even doing punches with the left hand while holding the right one in pain, I was quite impressed because I really thought he would suck at that. Unfortunately the lack of atmosphere hurt the match because the crowd was quiet in some key moments, like Gunthers stiff Missile Dropkick. Thank God the Ring General won and I am VERY hyped by Gunther vs Randy. A lot."

Gunther really showed that he just is the better wrestler all around and was in control for a large portion of this match. I particularly liked the ending. Jey just isn't on Gunther's level and matches like this that show that is the case but Jey won't back down, is good for everyone. Though it was a little slow because of the limb work and Jey's limitations. [***1/2]"

I was ready to give this 8/10, but some little things like bad crowd, bad narration and of course the commercials, those things affected my experience, but the match was still enjoyable - {***1/2}"

It was like a yeet vs no yeet contest. Gunther brought the good ol vicious side of him with the lariats and powerbombs and chops. And this set up Randy Vs Gunther which was pretty good aswell, but not as good as this in my opinion."

He was super over while making his entrance, but when WALTER started dominating and destroying Uso, the crowd was so quiet that you could learn everything you wanted to know about fake crowd noise techniques that WWE uses these days - nobody cared about him kicking out and persevering through all the punishment. WALTER is a pro and did a good job working on top, so it wasn't all bad, I think '5' is a rating that makes sense."

Secondly, Tama Tonga beating Randy Orton on SmackDown is a lot less likely now, as I don't see him facing GUNTHER in the Final. GUNTHER vs Orton, as I've stated before, is a super intriguing match to me."

[6.0] "So Jeys new thing is punching like hes Jerry Lawler while the fans chant Yeet. That was getting old really fast but Gunther soon took control of the match and did what he is great at - working over a hurt babyface. He attacks the right arm by launching Jey into the steps and works over it with holds. Jey sells the arm nicely and I like how he began throwing headbutts instead of punches to sell the extent of the injury. Gunther reposes with a double wrist lock that looks painful but Jey escapes via a samoan drop. Jey is a little weak on offence for my tastes but he puts in a solid shift and the crowds noise for him makes it easier to enjoy his work. Gunther retakes control to the benefit of the match. His chops get harder and harder but he gets caught napping and gets speared. Ref bump follows and Jey Uso cant get the pin as a result. Classic trope. Gunther angrilly beats on Jey and submits him with a sleeper in an awesome finish. Good match. Would be better if Jey Uso had more interesting offence. But Jeys selling was good, so I cant fault him much despite getting stick by the hardcore fans. ***1/4"

[7.0] "A good Jey Uso match! It happened, incredible. For Gunther, it's just another typical 7/10 Gunther match but that shows the difference in quality of the two men involved. Consequentially, Jey Uso's offense isn't captivating enough to raise this to an 8 or higher, but it's still a good match, very solid work, good build-up, some drama at the end, some hope spots, well done. ***1/2"

[6.0] "Solid match to determine who advances to the King of the Ring final. Jey's matches have been pretty boring lately, but Gunther is here to get something out of him. As usual, Gunther's chops were great and he targeted Jey's arm, who did a decent job selling. Gunther was in control for the most part until the end when Jey hit the spear and splash, but a ref bump prevented the three count. Gunther locked in a submission and Jey was out. Thankfully, the right person won. 6/10"

[7.0] "One of the best singles matches of Jey Uso's career is also one of the simplest of GUNTHER's career, they are on completely different levels and GUNTHER being practically in control throughout the match helped mask Jey Uso's huge flaws as a singles fighter. Jey's attacks made sense and went well, but what really made the match better was Jey's selling, probably his best attribute as a wrestler, his arm selling was good. GUNTHER really felt like a Ring General and even made me root for Jey's return in part of the match. But the ending was TERRIBLE, the overbooking was ridiculous, GUNTHER applied all his main moves, destroyed Jey Uso's chest with chops, applied three of his finishers, the Powerbomb, Lariat and Diving Splash, even so, nothing stopped Jey Uso who kicked out ALL OF THIS! What the hell is the point in making Jey as overbooked as Roman Reigns and GUNTHER ineffective? How stupid that Jey couldn't beat the former and greatest intercontinental champion in history just because of a ref bump. I understand wanting to leave someone over, but this is ridiculous, what is this, YEET Reigns? It wasn't any more stupid because GUNTHER won (thankfully) using Jey Uso's arm in the submission along with the rear choke. [3.75*]"

Jamildo2 wrote on 22.05.2024:
[7.0] "Easily the best match of the show, and probably as good of a match as you can get from Jey. Gunther is certainly the best bell to bell that WWE has to offer. They worked an injury without over doing it and had a referee bump to protect Jey, a professional and well produced match that protected the baby face and gave the heel some heat. This match saved the show for me."

[8.0] "The main event match was good. Gunther has a way of getting the best out of his rivals and elevating them in the process, one chop at a time. Even though he's one of the hottest acts in WWE right now, Jey Uso's in-ring ability is limited. He's a tag team specialist, after all. But his last couple of matches with Guther (as well as his match against Damian Priest at Backlsh) made him shine as a singles competitor. As always, this match highlighted Gunther's physicality & brutality. On the other end, Jey's perseverance almost got him the W, if not for his hand "injury" and the bump the referee got right before he pined Gunther (Bloodline reference, anyone? ). It was apparent from the start of the tournament that Gunther would be the one who won the crown and became the new KOTR. He'll be a formidable king and a major title contender for The World Heavyweight Championship (but also for The Undisputed WWE Championship, if WWE wishes to go in this direction)."

[5.0] "Man, how damn boring, lackluster and lame you must be in the ring to be able to make a great wrestler look like he is mid. Thankfully, Gunther is so great, that even his most boring performances are nothing but great. The pace is nothing but sleepy, there is no dynamism in the match aside from Gunther's violent and legit offense. Just look at the difference between Jey Uso delivering 40 superkicks per match (thankfully he just did like 1 or 2 here), to doing 40 killing chops. The difference is those kicks don't have any value, but every chop by Gunther is different and adds something new to the match. There are regular ones, the are some machine gun-like, there is the one to the back that knocks you out, the one that resonates in the whole arena and makes you stay down for good. Each move has a meaning. At least I'm going to give credit to Jey, he sold the arm damage really good through the match and they made it play a differential factor in the outcome, not only because of Gunther's constant work in that area, but because he used it to amplify the damage of his final Sleeper Hold. The referee bump was quite useless, as he didn't stay down for so long and he wasn't so hurt to give Gunther an actual advantage when he was being pinned after the Splash, so if they tried to protect Jey by doing that, one, it didn't worked, and two, that would've been shit, as Gunther is a dominator and he shouldn't be booked to win by flukes. Gunther made this match so much better, and his victory was a balm that healed all the wrong it was done when Ilja Dragunov lost (** 1/2)"

[6.0] "It was okay, and definitely not better than their first match. Like my grievances with their previous match, it all comes down to how Jey utilizes his arsenal. In this particular contest, it was a lot slower and methodical, but I could just not get into it. I think the first match got a substantial boost because of the crowd dynamic, but here they were just burnt out from the previous two matches on the card that exceeded the performances here in my opinion. ***1/4"

Jey came out with that extra fire to try to take down his nemesis. Gunther weathered the initial storm and pounced on the first weakness he saw. Jey sold the arm spectacularly. Punishing stuff. There was a chop that sounded like a firework display. Whatever that sleeper thing at the end was looked nasty."

[7.0] "Jey Uso CAN put on good matches! All he needs is a good structure and a great opponent to lead him. Gunther once again proves why he is the literal Ringgeneral. After weeks of attacking the leg this time it's the arm which also leads into the finish. Jey lost in grace with "just" getting knocked out and not taping. Not sure the Ref bump was necessary. Just let Gunther avaid the Splash or get the knees up for Jey to hit his damaged arm on."

[6.0] "Maybe my problem is I keep comparing any KOTR match with Gunther to his battle against Sheamus, which was just an absolute banger. This one REALLY pares in comparison to that, but even taken on its own merits... it wasn't BAD, I just don't see what everyone else is seeing. To me it was a bit lacking in heat, and I keep seeing people praising how Jey Uso was selling Gunther's work on his arm, but I actually thought Jey did a pretty poor job at that. There were a few moments where he was nursing it while he was up and about, but when Gunther had him down in an armbar and was working the arm after it was already injured, Jey was just kind of... laying there. He should've been acting like the pain was extraordinary, and I was distracted by how quiet he was about it. Jey also took too long between moves whenever he got them off or when he started his comeback, so they were running short on time and the ending had to be rushed..."

Very interesting, another Gunther banger main event."

[9.0] "That was probably one of the best dominative performance I've seen (at least in a long time) ! The methodical destruction of Jey's arm, and Jey's selling of it were great all along and he played well the fighting underdog babyface trying to comeback each time but that was each time a bit weaker ... until the point of utter destruction. Another point worth noting : that mark on Jey's chest from the beginning was incredible statement of Gunther's brutality which made the match even more engaging. The finish was maybe a bit underwhelming (and the crowd was very underwhelming) ... but still that was another great match from Gunther and good performance from Jey (because yes, wrestling is not just about having a lot of moves ...). 9/10."

[6.0] "The saying can be "less is more" - but Jey did virtually nothing in this match and it wasn't as rewarding because of it. GUNTHER controlled the offense 90% of the way, and I would say he was able to drag something good out of it, but it just never feels like it hits a second gear. Doesn't help that the crowd was not into it enough to ever truly start rallying behind Jey to coax him into a comeback, but then again, if they were doing something worth the reaction, they would have reacted. Just an alright TV match that felt like it under-delivered for the time and the acts involved. ***1/4"

[7.0] "This was a bit of a step down from their last match that I watched because one of my long time pals recomended it to me (not gonna put it on Cagematch.net unless something happens) but this was good. A good match that told a good story with "Main Event" Jey Uso being the underdog to a more malicious GUNTHER as he targeted that arm for most of the match and the ending with the arm and sleeper hold was so clever. My only issue was Jey Uso's limited moveset. It seems like at times he's holding back only to hear "YEET! " 7/10"

Jey Uso's gimmick of having be his secret word of the day be yeet despite not knowing what yeet means is a good bit. I think Gunther could have taken a bit more control but, Jey's comebacks where good (especially the wobblyness sell of the chops and samoa drop). I think its really cool that Gunther's presentation is he can win a match with any move. Liked watching this."
