What helps in this bout is half the wrestlers bleeding all over the place to illustrate the brutality of the concept. However, there's lack of memorable spots to fill the pointless brawling except Medusa climbing the cage and metal part of the ring being used as a weapon."

Superb structure. Arn anderson makes sense, great action and great shifts in momentum. Oh the top of cage action is nice. Sting did great. Devolves into pure chaos. 8.5, rate higher if you like these types of matches."

The finish of the match with the disconnected turnbuckle is also genius, and really sold a storyline throughout the match that Zbyszko was in trouble with the rest of the Dangerous Alliance. If I was booking a WarGames match, even in 2025, I'd model it off this one."

[9.0] "WarGames isn't complicated, or at least, it shouldn't be. The beauty of the stipulation lies in its simplicity: heels get the numbers advantage, chaos builds with every entrant, and The Match Beyond delivers the catharsis. When done right, it's wrestling's purest controlled chaos; and WrestleWar '92 is still the gold standard. The Dangerous Alliance vs. Sting's Squadron is loaded with talent; Sting, Steamboat, Austin, Anderson, Eaton, Windham, Rhodes, and every one of them plays their part to perfection. WCW's tighter cages and lower ceilings give the match its claustrophobic, violent texture. You can feel the walls closing in as bodies collide, heads scrape steel, and the canvas slowly turns red. The pacing is flawless: two-minute intervals keep the match surging forward, and the blend of blood, brutality, and storytelling makes it feel alive from start to finish. Madusa's daring climb, Sting and Nikita Koloff's emotional reconciliation, and the Alliance's downfall through miscommunication all hit their beats perfectly. It isn't immaculate (WarGames, by nature, rarely is) but the imperfections only add to its charm. Every bump, every swing, every drop of blood feels essential. WrestleWar '92 remains the definitive WarGames: a masterpiece of structure and chaos, violence and storytelling, that only the ROH vs. CZW one in 2006 has ever really been able to top. ****1/2"

An all-out brawl of epic proportion; exhilarating pace, crazy intensity, hot entry after hot entry, buckets of blood, a raucous crowd, Jesse Ventura and Jim Ross on commentary is a treat, there's some great storytelling on top of that, loved the moment between Sting and Koloff, Rick Rude and Steamboat going at it, and just about everyone's performance. Really, this match is almost overwhelming. Truly an all-time great brawl and my favorite War Games ever. **** 1/2"

"This WarGames match is an all-time classic--easily one of the best matches of the early '90s and arguably the best WarGames match WCW ever produced. The storytelling here was impeccable. On one side, you had The Dangerous Alliance--stacked with some of the most technically sound and vicious heels in the business at the time. On the other side, Sting's Squadron, a band of heroic misfits with power, and veteran presence. The build leading up to the event was filled with intensity, and this match delivered on EVERY level. From the opening bell, the pace was relentless. Barry Windham and Steve Austin started it off, and they wasted no time setting a tone of chaos and physicality. Each entrant added a new layer of tension (Rick Rude, Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson, Dustin Rhodes, Larry Zbyszko, Sting, Nikita Koloff, in this exact order.) The match was AMAZING, it would definently be one of the matches i would show to somebody if i was asked to show them one WCW match and i think we can all agree its one of the best War Games EVER! (would be the best if the year 1987 didnt exist) Rating: 10/10 (would give a 9, 5 but its closer to a 10 then 9) (and if i could rate at all but i just joined) - A bloody war and a masterclass in storytelling."

[9.0] "[4.5*] Brilliant match and probably the best War Games of all time. This is a match that I have similar feelings as the AITA 2022, with the average rating from both being pretty much the same. This is for sure very different than the War Games/Blood n Guts we have nowadays, with less focus on the weapons, no tables, no chairs, no thumbtacks, and more focus on being a real fight and battle between all these men that absolutely hated each-other and represented completely opposite things to the WCW. This was like the WCW Avengers vs the WCW Supervillains, and the crowd was all into it. It is funny because it looks like one of the most non-choreographed matches I have ever seen. There are matches, like AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins that I watched today too, where it seems like both guys are working together to produce great moves and sequences, they looked like coworkers on a theatre. This one however looks like a real fight, with perfect fists, not a lot of planned spots, a lot of blood, improvisation and simple action that made people feel. Not a lot of Holy Shit Moments, but the whole match felt like a piece of a bigger story, and the moments I popped the most did not even involve in-ring action. My favorite moment was when Sting finally accepted Nikita as a babyface after he threw himself into the fire to save him, and after a double clothesline they hugged out and the crowd went nuts. Simple moves, simple spots, gigantic reactions. This is professor wrestling. All these guys felt like real wrestlers, real stars, and everyone felt that. The fact that the cage was so low gave it a pretty cool visual, and it was awesome to see Sting making his hot entrance and using the cage to attack Rick Rude multiple times. The camera work was just phenomenal too; when I first saw the camera-man inside the ring I thought this fucking sucked, but as the time went going I saw how much it helped the atmosphere and immersion, I felt like being inside the ring and it was just fucking cool, I loved it. My only complaint is the fact that the match ended kinda out nowhere and I felt that it could have been much longer, and I did not believe when I saw that this had 25 minutes, because it was so good, so intense and so action-filled that I thought this had 15-min maximum. As much as it ended on the first submission attempt, you just can not say it was not realistic, because Zbyszko hit Bobby with a fucking piece of metal, so it is completely okay that his shoulder was hurt lmfao everyone would have tapped out too."

[10.0] "For my money, this is the best WarGames ever. It is incredibly difficult to praise every participant in the contest, but if I had to give the MVP trophy to one guy, it would be Steve Austin. Stunning Steve was sensational here, bleeding like a stuck pig, bumping and selling like his life was on the line, and taking an absolute beating -- doing this while wrestling the entire thing, by the way. I have never seen Steamboat this aggressive before, as he was hell-bent on murdering Rude, constantly going for his throat every step of the way. Dustin lit up the entire arena with one of the most fired-up babyface sequences you will ever see! Rude and Arn were wonderful scums you love to hate, adding a sense of nastiness that totally made you feel for the faces. There were several awesome moments as well, such as Sting confronting Medusa atop the cage, Paul E. coaching his crew at ringside, and Austin's head smashing against the ceiling as he received an Atomic Drop. The Sting / Nikita climax was worth every cent, and they built it up masterfully. Zbyszko screwing up his own team by accidentally breaking Eaton's arm with a steel rod, allowing Sting to smartly capitalize on it with an armbar, was the perfect finish to conclude this brutal affair. It was the culmination of a fantastic rivalry and a satisfying blowoff that saw the Dangerous Alliance get what was coming for them. Everyone gave it their all here, and the result is arguably WCW's greatest bout of the decade. [*****]"

With blood, heat and a spectacular group of talent, it's pretty much flawless, earning an overwhelming response with the familiar heat - hot tag rotation. Austin and Rhodes probably shine brightest, which is some feat, stating their case as the hero and villain of WCW's future. The present players aren't far behind though, with Rude and Steamboat unsurprisingly producing particularly magnificent performances. None of those names are central to the match's most memorable moment however, as Koloff and Sting embrace in an all-time great WarGames happening. It says a lot about the magic of this match that Arn Anderson isn't an MVP candidate, when he usually claimed that honour with ease. Superb match, one that deserves to live forever. *****"

The two weaker guys in the match (Koloff and Zbyszko) generally stayed out of harms way and let the other guys light the arena on fire. The crowd was absolutely wild for anything the babyfaces did, and in a lesson all wrestlers could use, THEY USED THE CAGE AS A WEAPON. Everyone bled buckets and this was a fine payoff to the Dangerous Alliance domination of previous months. Sting often flattered to deceive with me, but he was the undoubted star of this one. About as close to perfection as you can wish for with a gimmick match."

[10.0] "What a beautiful match this was, what a joy I'm feeling after watching this, the best War Games ever, and probably the best cage match (not the site, lol) ever too, 23 minutes of non-stop action, if I can define the match in one word is intensity, this feels like the most intense match ever, the camera inside the ring is awesome, it felt like I'm there, huge congratulations to the production, all the angles, everything was brilliant, and of course, the 10-man involved played a huge role, they absolutely encapsulated the hatred towards each other, they were fighting for their lives, amazing atmosphere. Basically every person here had a story with each other, the Dangerous Alliance, a squad formed by Paul E. Dangerously, most commonly known as Paul Heyman, were the heels, a group of rebels that wanted to destroy and tear apart WCW, they were vindictive and petty, and the fans hated them. To put an end to this reign of terror, Sting reunited a group of people that previously fought the members of the Dangerous Alliance, for different reasons and motivations, but they all had some kind of history, so they reunited and went to war together just to stop this hateful group, like some kind of Avengers assembling. It's well known that Sting and Ricky Steamboat are two of the greatest babyfaces ever, but everyone was amazing here, a young Dustin Rhodes stole the show, what an energetic performance, he was brilliant, and Barry Windham started the match in a perfect way against a young Steve Austin, both were fabulous. Nikita Koloff, a former heel, hugged Sting in a moment I will remember forever, the crowd was crazy, what a great moment, every interaction in this match you can understand without knowing any background or context, and this is magical. Sting climbing the cage to confront Madusa was an insane moment as well, there were so many moments that will be remembered forever, legendary stuff. At the end, after Larry Zbyszko accidentally hit Beautiful Bobby, Sting managed to do a submission on the injured arm and won the match, a simple but effective way to end things. I was kind of upset, because the match was so good that I wanted more, I wanted a very very long match of more pain and demolition, but was it really necessary? I don't think so, the match was perfect, every single second was worthy and perfect, it's the most intense but also a very simple match, and I'm impressed on how they managed to mix so well intensity with simplicity, the match was what everybody wanted to watch, no flaws here - {*****}"

It felt like an actual war with all guys beating the hell out of each other and most of the guys bleeding. It also helped temendously that the build has been great with The Dangerous Alliance being presented like a real threat and all of the babyfaces being over. Almost everybody from the Sting's team got a huge "hot tag" with the crowd losing their minds for Steamboat's or Dustin's entrances, plus they got a big pop for Nikita and Sting hugging it out, which was also a very good story leading into this match. So really a phenomenal multiman contest that was able to tell a story and deliver in the wrestling department at the same time."

Paul E's villainous Dangerous Alliance vs. Stings Squadron in an all out war with everybody in the arena behind them. It felt like these guys came in here with very little idea of what they were going for, but absolutely killed it. Multiple people were busted open, innovative spots (like Arn's head being stuffed between the 2 rings), a real fight feel with sequences that didn't seem pre-planned, and a crowd that popped at everything they did. All of the babyface run ins were electric, and every man did a great job at telling a story throughout the match. Probably the best War Games match ever. ****1/2"

[10.0] "If I could define what a War Games Match is, it would be this match. It's stupendous, intense and brilliant from start to finish (Which isn't hard to think about with the names involved). Thanks to the excellent work of Paul E., The Dangerous Alliance became a great stable heel for WCW after Ric Flair's departure. Everyone has a reason to be involved in this match and nothing is by chance, all its brutality and blood is driven not only by the classic babyface vs heel but also by personal fights like Barry Windham x Arn Anderson (even Barry's funny and wild moment burying Arn's head between the rings), and Steamboat (I must recognize his great selling throughout the match in his broken nose, in the storyline) x Rick Rude, these last two sought each other out the entire match to exchange punches. The work carried out on injured babyfaces against heels in their prime is essential for the execution of the fight. Even though Zbyszko becomes the weak point among the villains and is blamed for the defeat when he mistakenly hits Eaton with the hook that holds the ring. Steve Austin was a wasted gem that Paul Heyman saw potential in and he didn't waste it in this match, it was intense from start to finish, from the beginning with Barry to the end, he took the best bumps and made everyone who was against him look excellent. Whether it was Nikita having her transition to babyface complete and hugging Sting, making the audience cheer intensely, Paul being booed while creating plans for a victory on the outside with his team or Sting on top of the cage with Medusa, the crowd was on fire At all times, a different and fiery aura is created by the audience in the arena. I thought the ending was GREAT, with injuries, the babyfaces wouldn't beat the heel in good condition, so the gap created by Zbyszko made it possible for Sting to arm Bobby and the face team's victory, creating the first sparks of the end of the Dangerous Alliance. ABSOLUTE FIVE STARS MATCH! [5.0*]"

This one is nonstop wild action with an interesting blend of stars from the past, future, and present, but with everyone at the right age to deliver a great performance from all parties involved. You could feel the hatred between the teams, but also the tension as Nikita did not get the full trust of his teammates and Larry Zbyszko being perceived as the weak link. Various stories mix and meet and lead to a great finish where Sting looks smart and resourceful, Eaton is protected in his defeat and Zbysko's story continues. I love all the little details like Paul E gameplanning with his guys outside the cage. It's very creative for the time period too, with some really fun and clever ways of incorporating the cage roof. It has all aged very well and still feels incredibly exciting. I could go on praising the performances of guys like Dustin and Austin, or the wonderfully executed story of Sting and Koloff (told without any of the melodrama or bad acting that you'd often get these days from similar ideas). The ending of War Games matches always seems to be an issue, but I thought this one had a sensible ending that made sense and made for a satisfying conclusion to perhaps the wildest War Games of all. ****1/2"

[10.0] "Just amazing! I love how all the top feuds were intertwined heading into this one, and made the WarGames so dramatic. Steamboat and Rude were in a violent personal feud over Rude's US title, and Steamboat came into it with a broken nose from a Rude attack. Sting came into this one with a broken rib caused by Big Van Vader, and it was noted that all his partners wanted to be the World Champion, which Sting had then. On the other hand, the Dangerous Alliance weren't living their best days having just recently lost both the TV and the World Tag Team Titles, as well as Zbyszko losing 2-0 to Nikita in a 2/3 falls. There was also still bad blood from when Arn & Zbyszko broke Windham's hand the previous year. Also, how loyal would Nikita truly be' All this led to some fantastic spots throughout the bout, and helped take it to the next level. Nikita coming to the aid of Sting and them embracing got a huge reaction from the crowd. I also loved how Rude and Steamboat were constantly slugging it out, it made perfect sense. Austin was a highlight as well - he was the bumping machine of this match, taking the worse beating out of everyone involved. The finish was great too, as Zbyszko hit Eaton with an errant shot with the broken turnbuckle's steel hook in the shoulder. Sting immediately capitalized with an armbar to get the win. It was fantastic as it made Sting look intelligent while still keeping Eaton strong in defeat, while also continuing the story of Zbyszko being the Alliance's weak link. Drama, excitement, great crowd reactions, blood, violence, top stars, great storytelling. It all helped make this match so good. [*****]"

[10.0] "The best Wargames match ever and nothing else comes close. Also the best WCW match of all time. Just an absolute fight between 5 credible mean heels and 5 valiant babyfaces. It is filled with incredible little moments throughout and a testament to the talent on show that it never gets boring or descends into repetitive brawling. They all bleed like crazy and the mats are filthy with their blood by the end. Even the order of entries made perfect sense and Stings Squadron saved Nikita till last as they were not sure he could be trust him. There was a real sense of hatred between the teams. This is an absolute all timer. *****"

[8.0] "This was the best Wargames/Match Beyond. The action never slowed down. The crowd was rabid the entire time. Ten top guys. Ten guys who were viewed as credible threats in every match. No clowns, goofs, or comedians. Five really nasty heels vs. five babyfaces, in a bloody brawl. The match made sense. The heels won the coin toss, so they started acting cocky. They sent their big guns in first, hoping to end it early. The faces fed from the bottom up, saving Sting as their fourth entrant. They weren't sure if they could trust Nikita, so they saved him for the end. Why risk giving the Dangerous Alliance a permanent advantage early on by sending Nikita in early? Everyone entered the cage with a purpose, a goal, and some determination. The Dangerous Alliance's destruction of the ring wasn't a single spot. It developed over several minutes with the help of a few members. When you have a cage match, it makes sense to have blood. A cage match without blood is silly and unrealistic. This match had blood early on, and ended with several wrestlers, the mat, and at least one turnbuckle wearing the crimson mask. The ending kept The Dangerous Alliance strong, even in defeat. Zybysko screwed up, costing them the match. He was soon booted from the group."
