608.01.2025LJAwesome 038.0(Grade:B/****) This was a fun match here, I'm slowly becoming a fan of both Mayu & Mina especially with how much their styles while different mesh well against one another. Mina working over the leg of Mayu which surprised me seeing her be more technical and delivers of nice striking whilst Mayu does the more high-flying and hit a mean dragon suplex to get the victory!

1017.12.2024scaredykat10.0This event overall was not good, and because of the time cut this match had, it may seem that it was just another random match of the night, but this match was amazing, idk what it was but i really really enjoy it, the girls really work the asses of to make this match watchable, and also due to how much the other matches absolutely sucked, this one felt really fresh and cool, i believe stardom uploaded it free on youtube, so you can go watch it a see, also i do believe 10 points its maybe to much, but i really wanted for this to be standout in respect of the hard work of the girls.

1324.10.2024gabriare Solid stuff. They really should showcase more joshi before giving them a match, even though the crowd knew who Mayu was, and Mina won them by the end of the match, the silence thoughout really bothered me, i was hoping that Mina would win the title, but a win like this just doesnt fell right, and is not like Mayu staying with the belt is gonna hurt anyone. Just showcase the damn title more
1419.10.2024FelipeTalksGraps7.0[3.25*] One of the best matches of the night in my opinion. I really think NJPW and the joshis would benefit from working tag matches before the big singles ones because the crowd had no clue who they were and showed no interest for the majority of the time in a very well worked match with stiff action and good bombs and suplexes.

1805.09.2024danzitorock6.0One of the best matches of the event, really good and stiff women's showcase here. I think this had a proper structure and Iwatani won as expected. This was a sign of hope, maybe the show would be better with the beginning of the main card, but unfortunately some more awful matches came after this. I loved the ending sequences with that little drama - {***}

3302.04.2024aguakun7.0It has been a while since the IWGP Joshi belt was defended in New Japan. The match had the feeling of an "away match" that the crowd was intially cold to. But the wrestlers worked hard to create a captivating and dynamic performance and eventually won them over. Mina Shirakawa's offense was heavy, grinding down on the leg in prep for her figure-four, while Mayu Iwatani showed her usual zombie-like endurance.

4805.03.2024daichi8.0I get the rest of the show not being good but this was not the case with this match. I always prefer fast paced matches and even though this match should have been given more time it was action packed and very enjoyable. Both wrestlers did great and of course Mayu was the highlight. Kind of expected Mina to win this after everything that has been going on but Mayu is still the champion. Edit: The crowd was quiet sadly even though these two had the best performance of the night.
4904.03.2024Seosi7.0This was a good match, the show definitely needed this match. Good leg work by Mina, who was consistent about it throughout the match, which is appreciated. Mayu sold it, I agree there's a room for an improvement in this term, but she got to display her athleticism and why she's the current IWGP Women's Champion. The crowd was kind of quite, which is on NJPW as they don't featured as much, but they got invested in the closing stretch of the match with some good near falls. So, overall, this was a good match. 5103.03.2024Black Mass With Love5.0It was a disappointing match that started pretty well, but then something went wrong, and I didn't feel a chemistry between these two really amazing joshis. It's a pity. But I didn't enjoy their leading-up tag matches matches, so it wasn't so surprising that I have the same feelings here. Even though I hoped they would do better.
5203.03.2024jayro20066.0Really good match between these two. Ive seen a couple of Iwatami matches but thats it. I would love to see more Stardom matches in these cards as they are excellent.

5401.03.2024cal90997.0This is one of those matches that's objectively good but I just couldn't care less about it. I have no idea what this title serves given we see about 3 defences a year it feels like. Iwatani stood out as the more impressive of the two, there was some nice drama, but the crowd just didn't care at all. ***3/4

5629.02.2024vel7.0On the one hand, I enjoyed the match, on the other, it was not as masterful as their bought in Fuji both in terms of Mina's targeting diversity and in terms of Mayu's selling. Here Iwatani just showed she made here homework which is good, but aside from this it was a basic Stardom title match.

5829.02.2024BruceMarcos5248.0A great Joshi match that NJPW rarely showcase. I just hope we could see more of these matches in NJPW. Iwatani and Shirakawa already showing a lightning pace of action at the start of the match. Shirakawa working on the leg of Iwatani to work with a disadvantage is a fine way to throw off Iwatani's game. The way when Shirakawa performing a Dragon Screw Leg Whip to Iwatani from the second turnbuckle is visually amazing. The figure leg lock from Shirakawa and seeing Iwatani writhing in pain shows that how important emotion is in the match. Knowing that Iwatani is the best of her emotional selling, she can manipulate the crowd by sympathizing her. The desperation of Shirakawa to take down Iwatani shows how important this match is for her and how she wanted the IWGP Women's Championship, especially in a male-dominated company like NJPW. The struggle and rolling over of the figure four by Shirakawa whilst Iwatani struggling to reach the ropes added some drama to invest more in the match. Iwatani with the High Fly Flow, as a homage to her idol Hiroshi Tanahashi, and followed by a moonsault only to be kicked out is somehow expecting if you are familiar with this kind of formulaic match but still added a shock factor regardless. Although the 2-Step Dragon Suplex to end the match is kind of weak though. Only issue here is the crowd are kind of quiet, knowing that the Japanese crowds nowadays are as hot as American and British pro-wrestling crowds. Maybe some of the fans doesn't know who they are but if this was held on STARDOM, this will be well-received. ****1/4

7026.02.2024boymeetsworld9.0This match is an interesting piece of business because it was somewhat of an uphill battle from the get go - Shirakawa threw a challenge to Iwatani on a STARDOM show on January 27th after formation of Shirakawa/Maika's new faction in STARDOM - Maika is current World of STARDOM champion, so she wanted to win IWGP title to prove her worth, while realizing her dream of wrestling in a NJPW ring, as she was inspired to become a pro-wrestler after attending NJPW show. For Iwatani this finally was a chance to have a proper singles match in a NJPW ring, so she certainly wanted to show what STARDOM fans know for many years now. They did a very good job building up the match in the STARDOM ring and gave Shirakawa opportunities to cut promos from position of power - she pinned Iwatani in an Elimination Match at Korakuen Hall a few weeks prior (pretty big upset, even considering circumstances surrounding it), had good performances in following build-up matches and had genuine momentum going in. Both wrestlers did a good deal of promotion in different media where they built Shirakawa as a sympathetic underdog babyface, who was driven to have a match of her life to make her dream come true, and pre-match VTR was also pushing that story. I never got an impression that Japanese NJPW audience (especially outside of Tokyo) genuinely welcomes Joshi Puro on their shows, but they were open to give it a chance - Iwatani in an interview to NJPW site implied that this match would feel like an 'away game' and it really was. I think the idea here was to win over fans in the live audience that have negative opinion about Joshi Puro, prove that they belong right from the start, and replaced selling/slowing down for sympathy with fast-paced back-and-forth where everything mattered (especially counters/reversals) after getting Shirakawa over as an underdog in the first few minutes, and I think last two 2.9 near-falls by Shirakawa got biggest reactions because what they did actually worked. I see why some new fans who are used to only watching these two in a STARDOM ring were thrown off a little, but here they 'served a different master' so to speak, and imo they got some really good reactions from a different crowd. Iwatani used so much of her usual offensive moveset that I'm sure everyone who saw her for the first time was impressed, and Shirakawa did a good job keeping up when Mayu was pushing the pace. This match told a simple story, gave both wrestlers good shine and they both got a bunch of positives out of it - It was great to see Mayu be a star in a NJPW ring where IWGP belt belonged around her waist, and I'd like to see Shirakawa win NJPW STRONG title from Giulia and have a 4-6 month run with it - she can speak English decently well and she learned how to be a unique presence on any STARDOM card, so I'd like to see what would happen. Both wrestlers' post-match promos were effective too, especially Mayu's, who's confidence is at an all-time high - it's so palpable that her saying all the big words doesn't feel phony or performative. ****+

7926.02.2024lightspeed998.0Loved this match thought Mina looked amazing as she continues to prove herself. Iwatani continues to be herself, no wrestler (except for maybe Ospreay) comes close to the level of consistency that she does. They did a wonderful job especially considering the time they were giving, nobody else on the card is capable of a 12 minute match as good as those two had.

Mina continues to be overlooked and underrated by some despite regularly turning in performances as good as this. Hopefully having a good match on a bigger stage like this helps people to start seeing her at same level they see Mayu and Gulia.
