[5.0] "This was yet another lacklustre year for Rumble. Match was fine but not memorable enough. The 30th entrance was not the best. Love Sami but come on. He did not even last to the final 4. Truth spot was very funny. Pat's spot was useless. The final two were a stretch and did not need to be that long. Cody winning was so obvious."
[5.0] "A clear downgrade from the previous year's Royal Rumble. Cody winning back-to-back is alright, but the first half of the match is pretty bad. I hate Jey and Jimmy starting, and Jey being the iron man. Andrade coming back after three years is cool though, I like him and Santos Escobar going at it. The second half is better with Gunther entering, Bron Breakker making a strong impression, some comedy spots with McAfee eliminating himself and R-Truth getting the hot tag. Cody and Punk as the last two is quite symbolic but as a whole, this is kinda underwhelming. ***"
[7.0] "There's nothing truly original nor different going on in this rumble compared to any of the other better ones before it, and the winner wasn't in questioned, but it was still a solid one with star power, an amazing final four, and a fantastic final two with Punk and Cody with Cody becoming the first wrestler since Stone Cold in 97-98 to win back to back rumbles."
[5.0] "Too similar to 2023 to wow me. Jey and Jimmy starting was fun for 5 minutes, but that ran out of steam too quick. I agree with Waller, Yeet is cringe, and it will become like that meme where people look back on Marshmello and say that they couldn't believe this was cool (I never did because I'm smarter than that). The Judgement Day are incredibly boring that this point and R-Truth adds little to nothing. Gunther showing up midway has nothing on his Iron Man performance in the previous years, the same with Cody. If you wanted a better bout, have Cody and Punk be number one and two, and maybe Gunther at 30, to make it feel more like a journey."
[8.0] "Unsure on why the rating for this match is so low, my first PLE back for about a decade, so maybe I enjoyed it more than most, but the Punk Cody mini-match was solid, the right man won, especially in hindsight and rumbles in general are so fun. Really enjoyed the Bron Breakker spots as well"
[5.0] "Post-excitement of the Cody win, the star of this match has faded for me. It's fine, nothing particularly offensive, has a lot of the same midcard problems that seem to plague many rumbles. Final 4 is pretty much perfect especially considering Punk's status."
[9.0] "Why is this rumble rated so low ? lol it was a fantastic rumble and Cody's second win is miles better then his first and the rumble in general. 2024 rumble was also stacked with amazing wrestlers and storylines going into it as well. 5.82 is stupid quite frankly"
[7.0] "A pretty good Rumble match. After so many years, it's hard to do anything original in the match, but this was fine for what it was: a setup for Cody to go to Wrestlemania. The final two is when things actually got interesting. Good Rumble, but not great."
[6.0] "(6) very good ending, despite the crowd being SO DEAD for it and the entire match, which really takes away from a Royal Rumble. The beginning is so forgettable, I think the only two good bits are Jimmy trying to be friends with people and R-Truth's hot tag, which both last far too short to be anything that would make this something other than an average rumble match."
[1.0] "Just realized that I never rated this and to be honest I don't want to watch it again so I am going off my live viewing experience of this. Usually this really helps rumbles because on watches outside of the live context they can really start to feel like complete slogs. But I think watching this when it already happened might at least be assuming for some to examine in retrospect. Live however, a massive disappointment to the point where I almost quit wrestling again. The one saving grace of this is that the mini match at the end and the tease of the feud between Cody and Punk was cool. Cody was supposed to chase after Rollins with his win but ended up thankfully not subjecting us to more of that. The rumble overall was just really boring and a huge slog to get through."
[9.0] "****1/2 (09/10) The only portion of it that I found to be a waste (in the sense of the way Vince would waste spots in the Rumble during the time of his throne) was the Pat McAfee bit that did get me to laugh, but also to ponder as to the other prospects that could have filled in the entry. Besides that, this was one of the most consistent Royal Rumble matches ever assembled from top to bottom, each entry and every elimination, down to the final four which was followed by the excellent mini match between Punk and Cody, which turned out to be a dream match only made by the Pro-Wrestling Gods. When talking about the greatest Rumble matches in history, many claim the 92 Rumble, Stone Cold's third in '01, even the previous years masterpiece with Cody's story truly beginning. But 2024's Rumble main event was the sequel to that masterpiece."
[8.0] "8 for this royal rumble match, not only did my favorite Cody win, it was cool, it was also the nostalgia, when he stayed only with CM Punk, it was a great show, I would deign to watch it, it's fantastic, I came to the conclusion that it could have been even better if there were a few returns"
[5.0] "Idk about this one, this lacked the surprise factor that makes the best Rumbles as good as they are. Wouldn't be too much of an issue if the match carried on or developed feuds going forward but outside of the Uso rivalry at the start and build for a potentially excellent Gunther/Drew angle, there wasn't a lot in terms of story to chew on. Doesn't help that Punk seemed to gas out in 3 minutes and that section at the end with him and Cody dragged a little for me. However, everything between entrants 15 to 30 was dynamic and fluid action, and I loved how much Bron was pushed. Proper mixed bag, this."
[8.0] "I also don't understand the hate for this royal rumble. Because in my opinion, it turned out to be quite strong. There weren't many legends, but it seems to me that for some reason they began to move away from this format and it should be accepted. Well, otherwise, it seems to me that this is the most intense battle that I have seen. The match itself was normal, but when there were 4 contestants left, a completely different match began and it was a truly unique experience. Therefore, for such an ending, I am ready to give a high score."
[5.0] "for me this is quite a weak rumble. i like jimmy and jey being the first two, i think sami at three would have been better than #30, i think saving that for the biggest return is best, not that this rumble even had one. honestly when it got to 30 i forgot sami had been off tv as i'm just so uninterested in his character since mania last year. i feel like there were a lot of wasted spots such as pat, kross and having ricochet and kofi in the match to not even do any spot seems ridiculous. the r truth bit is still as un-funny as ever and the winner was a slight shock as it felt too predictable, i would have preferred it to be someone going after seth's belt to make the path for cody slightly harder but overall just a very flat and bland rumble. ***1/4"
[5.0] "[2.5*] There were a few things that I liked but for a 70 minute match it is way too little. I enjoyed Gunther beating the shit out of everyone, R-Truth comedy skit and the final 2 between Cody and Punk - OBS: Cody vs Gunther last year was way better - so I think it was just an average match which I expected way more."
[6.0] "The Men's Rumble... I'm glad this had the right winner. A lot of anticipation for this match, and I absolutely think it didn't fulfilled them, it was a disappointing one, but it wasn't so bad as some people are saying. The match starting with Jimmy and Jey Uso was interesting, they're probably building that for Wrestlemania, and Grayson Waller made a promo in his intro, didn't liked this one but we move on. Andrade made an expected return, and he had a lower reaction than I thought he would've, and not the most exciting of eliminations. I believe this suffered from the same problems of the women's Rumble, not a lot of surprises and a sloppy middle part, basically no remarkable moments and the match didn't clicked until the final four. Gunther was the clear MVP of the match for me, and Bron Breakker had a nice participation as well. It's a shame they wasted an entrant on Pat McAfee, it was funny but not ideal. Before the last four it was really weird, almost no star power and doubtful direction, I can't believe for example that they missed creating Punk and Gunther first interaction a thing. Punk and Cody final battle was the best part of the match, it wasn't perfect in-ring but I think they managed to create a tension and tell a good story. I was really happy with Cody winning, I hope he finally finishes that story - {**3/4}"
[7.0] "This match suffered from nothing happening. No big surprises, except Andrade though no one seemed to care, no big spots. People came out, were eliminated, and we moved on. This rumble built to the final six that we got which was a tremendous final six. Just wished more happened for us to get there. Cody vs. Punk final two was good but went on for way too long. They clearly tried to copy the excellent final two of Gunther and Cody and having a mini match at the end but with a rusty and hurt Punk that wasn't going to work out. [***3/4]"
[10.0] "From a wrestling stand point this was great. I think this was my favorite rumble in terms of actual wrestling. Other than 2007, this was great. The Punk Cody final was great. The shear tension and uncertainty there was extraordinary. I was popping like crazy. So it was extraordinary. A small thing but Bron was great in this match. I thought he did great for his main roster debut and he went crazy here. The only issue here is of course, the crowd. This crowd was so dead for everything even CM Punk. But other than that, great match."
[6.0] "Not the best match but not the worst, kinda just mid. Not really any returns other than Andrade and Punk's first match back where he gets injured about 7 minutes in. Cody won which was cool but he already won last years so it was kinda just copy paste. Not bad but not great"
[7.0] "standard men's royal rumble. Nothing super awesome, but a mini-match between Punk and Rhodes. Andrade's comeback and just for the emotion given, a well-deserved point."
[8.0] "Perfectly solid Rumble. Highlighted the right guys, had all the familiar tropes but everything was executed well. Sometimes the predictable story is the correct one to tell and as obvious as everything was they avoided jamming anything in just to be different."
[8.0] "I really thought this was a good rumble, don't get me wrong, I do prefer last years one but I don't think this was bad in any way shape or form, my only minor issue with it is the booking of Sami Zayn, returns at Number 30, eliminates Priest but allows the man who injured him to sneak attack him and eliminate him again, Sami deserved a bit of revenge. The first half wasn't that entertaining to be honest, it was cool seeing all of those people in the match but you knew none of them were going to win or have a big performance, the Uso's being #1 and #2 makes sense, but they should have brawled more throughout the match I thought, or one of them should have eliminated the other to further their story. Gunther arguably should have been in the final 2 again but that's a minor gripe, Bron Breakker having a standout performance was very nice to see, I think he's earned the moniker of the next big thing because of how much he has improved in the past 2 years. I know the spot was originally for Lesnar but screw that guy, he should never be seen in a WWE Ring again, it is quite funny to think that Dom Mysterio would have eliminated Lesnar though. Overall I did like this match, Cody winning again didn't even feel that stale."
[7.0] "This was a pretty fun and underrated Rumble that was focused on the stories going into them. Jimmy and Jey starting off the match was amazing although I think one should have eliminated the other. There was some spotlight for NXT talent like Bron and Carmelo. Punk has his first televised WWE match in a decade only to get injured seconds after entering the ring, but still finishing the match like an absolute professional. Cody winning the match was nice but pretty obvious and predictable."
[6.0] "Incredibly boring rumble which is disappointing after the women's one earlier on was so good. I'm tired of them doing an iron man every year now. The final four was fine but Punk debuting and getting injured... who would have guessed"
[6.0] ""Wow, Jey and Jimmy n.1 and 2! This is going to be electrifying! " Then you see the rest of the match and these two didn't touch each other after the third entrance. Best moment of the night: Breakker performance. For the rest, absolutely boring. At least the finale between Gunther, Punk, Drew and Cody was good, but the rest is skippable."
[8.0] "Despite the obvious winner, I enjoyed how they told the story of the Rumble. There weren't a whole lot of surprises but that shows how deep the roster is now. There were a lot of stories being advanced and as a whole, it worked well as a build to Mania"
[8.0] "The the most memorable Rumble match and not the Best. Not that much suprises, but some good spots, a little obvsoius who was going to win, but nice. Cody excells and when he gets that moment he shines in it. and watching Punk come out gave me chills, it was obsoivs cody was going to win, but part of me wished punk could have won,"
[6.0] "Forgettable Rumble, not enough competition to be as consistent as expected. Some great moments (Bron Breakker, the JD McDonagh punishment) but some awful ones (Jimmy Uso tryna check everyone, R Truth skit during women's Rumble was way better than men's). Fairly predictable ending with CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes advertized since the beginning of the PLE, should have brought more importance to some upper mid-carders or main event worthy ones like Drew McIntyre, and CM Punk seems unable to be on the same level as Rhodes in a potential Big 4 PLE main event despite having significantly less ringtime"
[9.0] "I really enjoyed the full matchup - the final two was a lot of fun between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, there was some great stuff in between with Gunther, Bron Breakker, Jimmy and Jey Uso, Drew Mcintyre and R-Truth. Just your standard quite good Royal Rumble really"
[9.0] "I Wanted Punk to win so bad but in hindsight it was probably for the best that Cody ended up winning. Glad Andrade is back, hopefully he can regain the form he had in NXT when he was the champ because he has been perennially underused since being called up"
[3.0] "For the most part really really bad. Long periods of dull action with no interesting entrants until past the mid way point. Never seemed to get out of second gear until right at the very end. Cody and Punk final two was as exceptional as expected though"
[8.0] "Good Rumble match. Good to see Andrade back again. This thing really didn't pick up until about halfway through, when Cody Rhodes, GUNTHER, and, especially, Bron Breakker entered the ring. Breakker was the MVP of this thing and looks like an absolute stud. The final six of Rhodes, Punk, GUNTHER, Zayn, Priest, and McIntyre was chill-inducing due to how well their feuds had been built up on RAW in prior weeks. Drew especially wreaked absolute havoc, and his actions toward Sami Zayn and CM Punk should lead to some intense rivalries in the near future. Speaking of, the war of attrition between Punk and Rhodes worked well. Both men were exhausted and still trying to destroy each other. Punk's dig at Cody spurring the latter to victory was a nice touch. Good show."
[8.0] "The Rumble is always fun, and this year it's true there weren't many favorites, but the few we had were pretty intriguing. I don't understand people saying it's boring, even the Meltz rated it well. So yes, there are better Rumbles, but a five? I guess people are rating it because of the after fall."
[6.0] "Unfortunately a rather underwhelming Royal Rumble match. From the lack of surprises outside of Andrade to a just generally not too eventful booked Rumble layout, this match just never really hit second gear until we were down to the finale. Basically anything before The Final Four is just nothing special, Bron did look great and the two comedy spots with R-Truth and Pat McAfee were fun, but nothing else really stood out in terms of in-ring quality or moment value. The Final Four DID deliver tho, and the final showdown with Cody Rhodes and CM Punk was really really great, with Cody winning back to back Rumbles being a truly unexpected and shocking moment. Still, those final minutes can't carry this otherwise uninteresting Rumble to a higher rating, its far from a disaster, but also far from previous years' greatness."
[5.0] "Jesus... what a boring Rumble match, the build-up was awesome with the promo work, creating this unpredictable outcome with a lot of possibilities, but the match itself did not told a good story, asides for Jimmy vs Jey face to face in the beginning, just Bron Brokker showcase made the match, no surprises besides the obvious Andrade return, not a single memorable moment for me, except the post match. The final two confrontration was BORING AS FUCK, CM Punk was injured so his performance was damaged, slowing the singles bout with Cody to the point of me wanting to end quick, at least the right guy won."
[7.0] "Sometimes, this match felt out of place, but for the most part, it actually wasn't that bad. The upward moments of this Royal Rumble were the dominance of Bron Breakker, the funny story between R-Truth and the Judgment Day (I might be in the minority of liking the story between Truth and JD), and of course, the win by Cody Rhodes at the end. Although some of the downward moments in this match was Bron getting eliminated by Dominik Mysterio (them not capitalizing on the story if that moment was to setup a feud was an even worse decision, also I'm not in belief of Dom looking like a superstar yet), the wasted entry of Pat McAfee (I like Pat but having him enter the ring and do nothing and then eliminate himself was a crazy decision), and the long runtime of the final two in the ring (it felt like Punk and Cody were dueling for hours, it dragged! ). Otherwise, I'm surprised the rating for this is low, I thought it was actually good. Some nice entertaining spots along with a deserving winner make this really good in my opinion."
[8.0] "Issues did arise in this match in comparison with the women's edition. First of those is the lack of surprises, except for the return of Andrade. Secondly, the pace wasn't as fast as the opening Rumble battle. However, the showcase of new talent was vivid through the appearances of Carmelo & Breakker, and out of them, the latter had a stellar performance that made his future in the main roster even brighter. In addition, the intertwined stories and the exceptional buildup in the shows prior left a massive impact on the excitement and unpredictability of the winner's case. Jey & Jimmy's opening sequence was enticing, and the unsettled tension in rivalries like Lashley/Kross, Kofi/Kaiser, and Judgment Day/Awesome Truth created an excellent chain link with the match. A fantastic selection of the final four fighters led to a seat-edge thriller of a climax, especially the well-built duel between Rhodes and Punk. Even I rooted for Punk, but seeing Rhodes win his second consecutive Rumble cemented him as the next big thing for the company if it didn't before. 4 out of 5 stars!"
[8.0] "Solid Match. Got too much hate imo. The build up to it was fabtastic with multiple storylines going into it and having an effect on the match itself. Despite barely having any surprise entrants other than Andrade the order of entry fit the match perfectly. Despite being a huge CM Punk fan I felt the ending was executed very well. Great match just lacked suprises"
[7.0] "This Rumble is heavily underrated. Its one of the most story driven rumbles with all the sub stories like Punk and Cody/Drew, Jimmy & Jey starting off. And it wouldnt be a Royal Rumble without surprises as we got some NXT talent and Andrade returned. People only rate this low because they expected too much."
[4.0] "Unsurprisingly bad, featuring lots of generic brawling, slow interactions on the ropes, unconvincing elimination attempts, and boringly identical actions/arcs for almost every single wrestler, all as was wholly expected. At least this had a bit more intensity, slickness, creativity, and clean technique compared to the dreadful women's rumble match earlier. Still, quite a few moves and spots from certain wrestlers looked pretty mediocre or even outright bad, and once again this followed the beyond-tiresome Rumble formula of almost every single wrestler getting a hot entrance, doing their dorky signature poses/taunts, either hitting their signature moves or just 'running wild' taking everyone out with basic offence (both of which always occurred in choreographed fashion), before soon degenerating into lying down against the ropes, making maybe quarter-effort attempts to throw each other out, and generally just wasting time until their next set spot or until they themselves then got to be taken out by the *next* wrestler's hot entrance. If anyone ever impressed, it was only ever very briefly. It didn't help that almost every single character (i.e. non-wrestling) interaction between the wrestlers was really corny and overly telegraphed whatever direction they were going for, since WWE is still famous for having zero sense of subtly. New guys just came and went so frequently and with almost zero actual effect on the match or zero creation of any real story so that when those wrestlers returned to focus 10, 20, or even or 40 minutes later, they never felt remotely like they'd been through a hard-fought battle to last that long, just that they'd survived in the most bland and uneventful way possible by essentially anchoring themselves to their opponents plus the ropes, almost like they were even just hiding from a real fight. It also didn't help that almost all entrants were clearly guys the crowd wasn't familiar with or at least didn't care for, given they were understandably silent for almost every single person that came out unless they were TOP stars (which was really just Cody and Punk, if we're being honest). Even for those guys that immediately had good technique in everything they attempted, they almost all still just received deafening silence. Not cheers, not boos, just complete indifference and disinterest. That's not surprising, given the Rumble formula is inherently counter to the appeal of wrestling to begin with, in my opinion. The match obviously became more focussed as the numbers whittled down, but even the multiple signature "lets have a standoff before mess-brawling" spots between the final 6 and then the final 4 elicited almost no reaction despite being a staple "epic match" moment that modern wrestling fans are conditioned to pop for. It was actually refreshing to see that stuff get appropriately ignored, but it also speaks to how low modern wrestling has fallen, which isn't a happy realisation. The single redeeming feature in that final period was Cody, whose work all looked decent and whose displays of babyface fire felt genuine. Unfortunately, his partner there as the Rumble's "final 2" was CM Punk, whose natural lack of athleticism, strength, cardio, and coordination were heavily exposed for the millionth time. The dude still has the worst finisher of any major star around today, which would've been the case here even if he wasn't as badly gassed as he was, given his GTS has genuinely never looked good. Despite Cody's best efforts to carry them, there was absolutely nothing interesting about their interactions there at the end. If you told me Punk would get injured *yet again*, and in his first televised match since his long-awaited return to WWE after almost 10 years, I would have cringed at how cynical you were being. I mean, who can be *that* cursed? Punk can, apparently. Thankfully, Cody was the eventual winner here, even if that result was so heavily telegraphed in the build, and was accompanied by no real red herrings to try convince us of any other eventualities, that it was completely devoid of drama or excitement once it finally occurred. WWE had no clue how to structure or book their matches. So, there's been no real change in their approach from the last 20 years, then. **"
[4.0] "(Match spoilers) No Kofi Spot, Carmelo not enough time to showcase himself, Ricochet wasn't used to his fullest, not being able to recognize the wrestlers because the music was generic. I think it was another letdown. I was also surprised by how many interesting possible entrants DIDN'T get in, like Omos, Gargano, Dragunov, Trick, Wilde, Gable, Sheamus, and many more of course. But instead five of the slots were wasted for Judgment Day members, one of them being a champion and one of them being a Money In The Bank holder? Let's not also mention the waste of Waller and Theory as entrants. Speaking of Judgment Day, what was with R-Truth asking earlier if he had to quarantine when he got his number? That implied his number was either 19, 14 (for days of quarantine), or 11 (two lines indicating a positive test)---why did he come out at 24? Going off of the lack of storytelling, it was hype when Jey and Jimmy were in the ring together, but it barely built to anything. I was expecting a buildup to their WrestleMania match but they barely interacted the rest of the match. Andrade returning was cool though, and Breakker's moments."
[5.0] "The men's Rumble this year was a little underwhelming considering all the exciting possibilities leading up to it. I am happy Cody won but I was hoping for a bit more from CM Punk and also Gunther come to that. I stayed invested to the end even though I found it a bit above average. I rate it 5.5/10"
[5.0] "Not the best rumble i've ever seen. Punk getting injured was unfortunate. Not too many memorable spots from what I recall. Not sure what I think of Cody Rhodes going back to back."
[3.0] "Boring. I really wanted to like the Rumble, but I think even without the Vince and Brock drama this match would have been lackluster. I honestly cannot remember much aside from Bron Breakker dominating the ring after his entrance (and to be fair, that would be my highlight of the night- he is fantastic) and the end point where Punk gets eliminated by Cody. I think Cody was the right person to win- I want to see him take the title off of Roman and 'finish the story, ' but it was predictable (and I was always counting on Punk for Elimination Chamber to qualify for Seth's title). Cody should have come in earlier and taken the iron man spot and won, to contrast his Rumble win the previous year. The order of entrants was slow, and nonsensical (RICOCHET AT 28! ? ! ). No Chad Gable in the match is a travesty; the man is incredible. Pat McAfee's moment was fun, but felt slapped together at the last second (and I've heard that it was). A blah match that really ruined the tone of the evening- and HHH's performance at the press conference didn't do much to impress me either."
[8.0] "This was really really good before it all went to shit. Very very tense by the end, obvious but extremely hot final 4/5 guys and Punk and Cody felt as big as WWE could feel. Right winner despite me being a diehard Punk stan. So fun to watch with other people as well. Other great moments in the match: Bron's beast mode performance, Omos' return, the initial Uso staredown was a fun moment, Andrade's return. Lacking a bit of heat in the middle but it got huge by the end."
