[7.0] "After going through the entire 2023 Continental Classic, watching each of these wrestllers stories, accomplishments and struggles, this really felt like a treat. Everyone was busy with the tournament so they didn't got any other build for the PPV, so this match was really a no-brainer to book and I'm so happy they did. Every encounter looked so fun and entertaining, specially Rush and Claudio, instant fire there. Danny and Brody got an itense feud going on and Jay White teasing Daddy Magic was hilarious. The dynamics explored here were also very cool, Rush and Brody is an insane pairing, even if it's just for a single spot. Overall DG was obviously the MVP for the match and he had the best story anyways. Very fun chaotic opener and a pretty cool way to end the C2 for these fellas."
[7.0] "Since I was there the intro was hype with the pyro then it went into this match. This match was very fun Daniel Garcia and Danielson were the MVPs."
[7.0] "I need to correct this rating, looking again in behind maybe I was to "angry" for Bryan not going into the finals, but well, looking back, this was good, and really help to made Danny grew up. Anyway, thank god this shit didn't happen in 2024"
[7.0] "Really enjoyed the continental classic and the stories it created, and this builds on those stories nicely by having key players interact at the right times. Wasnt entirely sure why certain people were teaming together and the match itself was fine, but the storytelling and stiff looking work made this engaging."
[7.0] "[3.25*] Very good opener to start the match and I legitimately thought the show was going to be great after it, lol. All the stories progressed (except for RUSH) and Danny ended up bigger than what he entered."
[8.0] "A really fun match to kick off the main show here. With Swerve Strickland and Andrade El Idolo booked elsewhere on the show, I thought this was a nice way to get the rest of the participants from the Continental Classic booked on the show. All things considered, this was good and I thought it was cool that Garcia got the win for his team."
[7.0] "Very decent opener, the match between participants of the Continental Classic gave us really nice interactions, like Brody with Claudio and Garcia, Mark Briscoe with Jay Lethal, and Bryan with Jay White. This just shows how many stories and remarkable moments a good tournament can leave. This match had an excellent pace, with a lot of frenetic moments and interesting dynamics. I loved Dani Garcia making the pinfall - {***1/4}"
[9.0] "It's a really great tag match featuring all the losing participants from the first ever Continental Classic and a real nice way to kick off the show."
[7.0] "This was a fun match. Hard hitting, raw physical action with good storytelling. Everyone did good job here but Garcia was the definitive MVP. Everyone had their moment to shine which they did not waste, but they also, all pitched in to make Garcia stand out from everyone else. The match was thrown together Last minute but it never felt like that, ot was properly choreographed and had intricate layers of storytelling. ***3/4"
[7.0] "A really solid way to kickoff the show altough, considering the names involved, I was expecting something more: the crowd wasn't very into it but the action was entertaining with a couple of great moments and sequences. I Loved the closing stretch and the ending with Garcia picking up the win for his team. I also liked the tensions between Garcia and Danielson. Everybody looked good so the match served its purpose as showcase match for the eliminated partecipants of the C2. 7/10 - 3.5*/5*"
[8.0] "The show needed a red-hot opener, and pitting all the knocked-out competitors of the C2 tournament into two diverse teams was interesting. I had my fair share of doubts about how this would turn out, but the action was excellent and brought an energetic response from the fans. Briscoe & Garcia's wittiness, BCC's ruthless aggression, Brody & Rush's brutal offense & the experience brought by Lethal and White created a blend of high-octane action and entertainment value. Even the intricate layers of Danielson and Garcia's unfinished business, Lethal respecting Briscoe, and Brody's bickering on Matt Menard were too good for an exhibition opener. 4 out of 5 stars!"
[3.0] "This match consisted of everything and nothing at the same time. There are a lot of funny elements, like the constant attacks of rivals on apron, but in general it never gets interesting enough, and such a long plotless match really tired me. As soon as something good started happening, the wrestlers immediately passed the tag. TOO MUCH Garcia in the ring. An overly generic ending that didn't fix anything (*1/2)."
[8.0] "BCC, Daniel Garcia and Mark Briscoe vs Brody, Switchblade, RUSH, and Lethal was a good match, which is what you would expect from these 8 men. 8/10, or ****."
[9.0] "Great match here, it's an all star match for a reason and it really lived up to it's potential. It doesn't feel so monumentally important but you do get a tremendous run of great action and yet another example of how damn good these guys all are (also Jay Lethal was there)."
[7.0] "This was good for being a thrown-together eight man tag match. Tons of talent in here and they all worked well together. I think it would have been cooler to see Blue vs. Gold here instead of a mix, but not really a big deal. Nice to see Garcia get the pinfall, he's starting to finally gain some traction again. ***1/2"
[8.0] "Mainly was into Bryan and Jay White interacting during this match, but this was a very good 8-man tag. Daniel Garcia took a hell of a beating during the heat portion of this match, and he did a terrific job selling it. Everyone in this got their chance to shine, and everyone hitting their finish toward the end was really fun. Garcia ended up getting the win at the end by rolling up Brody King.***3/4"
[7.0] "this match had tons of potential and turned out to be good to be fair, but obviously not that great! almost all of them performed adequately, and it was a nice way to open the show. the sequence at the end was cool to give Garcia another important moment, to win the match for his team. (***3/4)"
[7.0] "A very good showcase match for all of the stars of this year's Continental Classic. Rather than doing it as League vs League, though, it was roughly faces vs heels. The main story from this match was the breakout story of the CC: Daniel Garcia and his redemption as a wrestler. Garcia has now perfectly melded the realms of sports entertainer and pro wrestler, and the match teases out well both a future revival of his rivalry/story with Danielson and his status as the next thing in AEW. Other storylines built here include White/Danielson, Claudio/Rush, and the continuing arrival of Mark Briscoe vis a vis the spiral of Jay Lethal. Solid opener."
[4.0] "What's the point of such a eight man match in a pay per view ? Apart from pleasing the public in Long Island, I don't see it. No stakes, no rivalry, and a match barely worthy of a place in a weekly show's midcard or a very bad preshow without ideas 4/10"
[7.0] "This was fun considering there were no expectations for it because it was random and thrown together. Also I didnt like how Mark Briscoe was on the wrong team considering he was the only Golden League member of the team. It was still a fun match and the faces won."
[7.0] "This was probably a lot better if you followed the whole tournament, which I did. It wasn't anything special but it did have a few fun bits for people who had been keeping track of the competitors."
"I really enjoyed this as the opener of the PPV, as well as the small touches back to several C2 matchups such as DG vs Brody, Claudio vs Brody, Mark Briscoe vs Jay White/Rush, etc. Mark and the Blue League guys are the highlight for me, which parallels my feelings from the tournament matches as well. I also enjoyed how DG's match almost mirrored his tournament... as he just managed to squeak out a victory at the end. Top 3 match on the card for me."
[7.0] "A good sendoff to the tournament, basically a vehicle to get Garcia a win. He unfortunately pinned Lethal (who finished with 0 points) so I question if it even made him look strong, but this was one of the stronger matches of the night. Probably still could have been held on Dynamite."
[8.0] "This was everything I hoped for with this match. They did an excellent job of weaving in the stories from the tournament and Daniel Garcia was the right person to get the pin."
"Was a decent match but hard to get invested when it feels like a thrown together match meant solely to get 8 guys on the card. Was a okay opener to the show however."
[7.0] "This was fun and they weaved some good stories together with it. It's just a shame so many talent wrestlers were only in an 8-man tag when this card was lacking."
[7.0] "This was a fun opener that helped showcase some of the C2 talent that got to take part in the tournament. I really liked the Danielson-White segment the most, as well as Garcia getting the opportunity to shine in this match. Garcia Got the Roll up victory on Lethal for the Win. ***3/4"
[8.0] "Good opener that despite was slow sometimes got better and better while it was going on. The finish was underwhelming but there is good action here, nothing awesome but nice nice to kick off the main card. Perhaps a cheap way to use some big stars but at the end of the day not a bad one. ***3/4"
[6.0] "The match itself was a hodgepodge of guys with nothing else to do on the ppv and competed in the C2. The match was good but had no heat build or reason. Fun way to open the show none the less"
[9.0] "Way better than it had any right to be considering it was a last-minute addition with literally no or heat or build aside from "all these guys were in a tournament". It reminded me a lot of the late 10's Survivor Series "brand supremacy" matches, but in a good way. It offered some nice samples of future matchups (Switchblade vs Dragon at Revolution, please and thank you) and helped to progress a couple of individual stories as well. Absolute blast from start to finish and a great way to open a PPV. 8.5 rounded up to a 9."
[8.0] "Matt Menard on commentary makes everything better, not that this match needed much help. Pretty much non-stop action with all the non-finalists from the C2 showing what they can do, ending with a big win for Garcia. A great way to set up some more rivalries and mid-card storylines, as well as an entertaining, chaotic opener for the show. This is what an 8-person match should be, not just an empty excuse to get people on the card."
[7.0] "After a great tournament with amazing competitors, having almost all of them in one match promised to be good. And indeed it was, after somewhat slower start, match picked up momentum. Everyone were showcased nicely (but I would've given some more time to Rush). I loved the sequence at the end of the match and the ending, giving Garcia another W after leaving the tournament with only one win."
[7.0] "It started the show, and did the job. I prefer when PPVs start out with singles matches, as opposed to the multi-mans. It didn't feel like it made the difference for me personally, but others seemed to really enjoy it."
[8.0] "A smart and easy way to showcase all the tournament competitors on the pay-per-view. Daniel Garcia continues to get over in buildings and this match was smartly made to get him those big crowd reactions. The hot tags could have been built better but thats fine. They did that silly WWE thing where everyone hits their finishers leading to the finish and that kinda sucked. Everyone looked great and I think Brody King has been elevated through this tournament the most, this guys a star now. Great opener to the show."
[8.0] "A fun match with really great wrestling from all competitors. Made for a strong opening match and a cool way to follow up the continental classic, letting the crowd see all these other wrestlers who otherwise would've had nothing to do on this card."
"The opening match was good. Very fast-paced and a good way to get all the also-rans from the tournament into one match. Claudio and Danielson were good as always but Rush does not do a good job of selling."
[8.0] "Great action bell-to-bell. So many talented workers in this match, but Claudio specifically shines early on. Then Daniel Garcia took over and had some great stretches including the finish and final pin. I loved the story being told with his wrestler redemption over this your."
[8.0] "This was a great showcase of the tournament and the mid-top of the card talent in AEW. Everyone from Danielson and Jay White, all the way down to Garcia and Brody King, has a reason to be over with the crowd and it showed here. They actually could've done more to make this an epic showcase but as a show opener it worked well."
[8.0] "AEW has mastered the modern version of the AJPW multi man tags. I would love to see this as an annual tradition for the Continental Classic. Jay White and Brody King shined but this was all about Daniel Garcia and he played his part well. Mark Briscoe is always a highlight too and gets over right away. ****1/4"
[8.0] "I was tempted to call this an over-delivery on an also-ran consolation match, but really this is the level we should expect from such all-star teams. The match kept up a relentless pace, and everyone moved smoothly from competitor to competitor with nary a miss-step. Brody looked like a true monster, and I enjoyed Garcia's redemption arc/face turn. I felt a little bad that Lethal had to eat the pin, but a brief moment with Dutt suggests there are story implications to come."
[8.0] "This was great and the crowd was very into it. Everyone shined, especially Mark Briscoe and Daniel Garcia who got a massive pop for his rollup win. The only good match in the first 2 hours of this cursed PPV. ****"
[6.0] "This was a super solid opener. A stacked multi-man tag match with each participant getting time to get their signature shiz in. The Danielson-Garcia story continues to be extremely awesome."
[8.0] "[4.25*] This match was a great fan service with several incredible Wrestlers exchanging blows like Jay White and Bryan Danielson, Rush and Claudio Castagnoli. Another sensational moment was Daniel Garcia forcing the tag on Bryan and stealing his moment. The ending was insane with each wrestler having their moment, Daniel Garcia especially, he was the highlight of the match."
