It's not perfect, but it's about as good as a 5 minute match can be. High impact move after move, and zero time wasted. Lesnar kicks out of the Jackhammer in a fairly mind-blowing moment, and then leapfrogs over Goldberg's spear in the spot of the match. Then he gets the win, redeeming his previous losses. It's short. It's sweet. It gets the job done."

This match definitely did not need the Universal Title and this marked the beginning of Brock's reign of terror that wouldn't end until SummerSlam 2018. He held that poor title hostage for like 18 months and barely showed up to defend it."

I dont have much else to say about this, a nothing match creates a nothing review to be honest. At least it felt that brock tried a bit and sold nicely for bill."

Why does he have to suplex Goldberg for like 90 seconds and then hit one to win?"

This match fucking slaps, and is easily the best singles match you'll ever watch Bill Goldberg have. While Lesnar can have enjoyable, prolonged matches, they're always against guys like Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles. Y'know, some of the best wrestlers on Earth. i.e. not Bill Goldberg. Goldberg is only good in extremely short bursts, which is what WWF fucked up during his first run. They really expected him to have an enjoyable--no, even a watchable match spending 19 minutes in the ring with Triple H and Kane? C'mon man. This match, however, is the epitome of Get My Shit In, but in a good way. You know how many wrestling moves were done in this match? Four: Spear, Jackhammer, German, F5. And goddammit, that's all they fuckin' needed. It's a cliche to say but this was pure smash-mouth, in-your-face wrestling that wasted no time and didn't let up. There's something about the physicality of it, the fact that you can tell that neither guy is holding back and they're legit just smashing the fuck out of each other, that really puts it over the top. This match could not possibly be more opposite to their match at Wrestlemania XX, which was so mindlessly dull and boring that even Stone Cold Steve Austin couldn't save it. Every couple years I come back and watch their Survivor Series '16 match and then this one just because they're so much fucking fun and it only takes like ten minutes. This match rules and I loved every second of it. Absolute perfection and I wouldn't change a single thing about it."

This was worth it. Great match."

After that the match starts to go downhill though I do like Goldberg spearing into the turnbuckle and Brock doing that pretty cool jump up to avoid it. I've never been a huge fan of the sequences of suplexes Lesnar does so I think it was a pretty lame way to end the match."

It didn't last long, but it was easily the best thing on this entire card and a true mega-fight that finally happened the way we wanted. Perhaps if Goldberg had better conditioning they would have gone longer, but I'm not too sure if that would have been a good thing. (4.25*)"

After Goldberg beats Kevin Owens in seconds, the fans have turned on Goldberg and are rooting for a Lesnar win. Despite opening strong with a trio of suplexes, Lesnar ends up eating a spear early and gets hit with bombs until he counters a spear with a LEAPFROG that sends Goldberg violently headfirst into the corner. Every single move is a signature move and the crowd loves every second. Even the overdone barricade spot isn't enough to sour me on this. Who would have thought Lesnar would work so well as a babyface? When Brock is stuck in Suplex City mode, being in a bomb-throwing sprint like this is the best environment for him."
[8.0] "The epitome of a high-energy mega heavyweight sprint. Both men worked hard, delivering impactful maneuvers on each other for tremendous pops from the crowd. Intense moments like the surprise Spear out of nowhere, the Spear through the barricade, and Brock doing a freakin' LEAPFROG to duck a Spear are the reasons why this was great. To me, this could've easily been the main event, with or without the title on the line. Easily one of, if not the best match to ever be contested under 5 minutes, and proof positive 20 or 30 minutes aren't necessary to create a classic. All killer, no filler, this. [****]"

Every single move these two hits is a big one as this match is nothing but F5s jackhammers german suplexes and Spears. The moment Brock started getting cocky after hitting some germans, which allowed Goldberg to take control of the match The crowd was even into this like crazy making this match even better. Paul Heyman was great with his reaction with putting his hand over his face after the Jackhammer knowing that Brock has never kicked out of that move. Brock would then take back control after Goldberg ran into the turnbuckle, he goes on to hit 10 germans then the F5 for the win. Amazing sprint.****1/2"
[6.0] "Fun little finisher-fest between Lesnar and Goldberg right here which was obviously nothing extraordinary as was to be expected with these two at this stage of their careers, simply because Goldberg was no longer capable of having long matches and because the work between these two has always been uninspired. I don't think I need to reiterate how disastrous their first match was and how their Survivor Series main event was a massive disappointment compared to the hype surrounding it, so describing this Mania title match as nice and giving it a 6 is already something unexpected. It was very intense but obviously no story was told, it was just Lesnar destroying Goldberg in front of an Orlando crowd completely behind him. I liked the ten German Suplex and also the moment when he countered Goldberg's Spear with a Leapfrog, the atmosphere was great but the match was just entertaining and nothing else."
[9.0] "Best match of Goldberg's career because it feels like a Goldberg match turned around on him, where he tries to rush Lesnar but eventually just gets brutalized and effectively squashed. Every single solitary move in this match looked brutal as fuck in the best way, and this was the debut of Brock's inhuman leapfrog. We get 10 straight suplexes and an F5 and Brock wins the title. If Goldberg got a hope spot in the middle of the 10 suplexes to give the crowd some hope, this could've been a legitimate classic, and it's under 5 minutes. Never let anybody tell you that short matches have a limit on their quality, because this match is proof positive that shorter can mean better in the right context. ****1/4+"

There are a handful of (bad, mostly) WrestleMania matches you can point to as being the pinnacle of WWE's spectacle-over-substance approach to professional wrestling, but for me, this is the match that blows all of the other candidates out of the water, because not only is it fast-paced and action-packed rather than being slow and boring, but it had the sense to not outstay its welcome. It's such an objectively stupid wrestling match that I can't bring myself to give it a 10/10 on principle, but make no mistake, if you turn your brain off and let it work its magic, this match is 10/10 entertainment. Vince McMahon's big dumb magnum opus of big dumb men doing big dumb moves."

The length of the match protected Goldberg from going too long and risking the quality of the match to go down, while giving Brock enough time to pound away at Goldberg and get revenge for his embarrassing loss at Survivor Series, and elimination at the Royal Rumble. I wasn't a fan of this match being for the championship as both Lesnar and Goldberg are bigger than the belt. You can sell tickets just from the two men alone. Maybe add a stipulation like No Holds Barred instead. Either way, I thought this match was one of the best of the night, and it gave us a nice spectacle that helped rejuvenate the crowd on an otherwise long night at WrestleMania. The intensity, the speed, and the quality of the match is why I give Lesnar vs Goldberg at WrestleMania 33 a 7/10."

Ob man nun Goldberg oder Lesnar mag oder auch nicht, sie haben nicht nur aus diesem Kampf das allermeiste rausgeholt, was nur ging, nein, sondern auch mit einfachsten Mitteln und nur wenigen Impacts, die aber umso effektiver wirkten, ein verdammt spannenden und dabei trotzdem unterhaltsamen Kampf geboten und das kann man dann dann schon mal auch mit 8 Punkten würdigen, finde ich. Allein schon der Wendepunkt, als Lesnar mit diesem unglaublichen Leapfrog über Goldberg hinweg springt und seine finale Offensive startet, ist richtig stark gemacht. Wenn man hier nicht mit dem Anspruch geht Okada vs. Omega sehen zu müssen (und ganz ehrlich: Seit 2003 sollte man wissen, dass Goldberg in 10 + Minuten Matches nix verloren hat), wird man bestens unterhalten."

[5.0] "This was the right match for Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg to have. It was short and entirely big moves, so that it didn't have the chance to either slow down and kept the fans popping without wearing them out, and it gave the fans the finish they wanted."

[9.0] "This ended up as one of my favorite matches of 2017 - it's not one of the most technically impressive, just one of the ones I enjoyed watching most. I'm a Lesnar mark, which is a lot of it, but to pack so many cool spots in such a short time period was great. This is how to do a "just spam finishers" match, have cool twists (jumping a spear! ) and a short, quick paced match."
[7.0] "This match overall was good. We obviously could've guessed this match would not have been 30 minutes long, but with the time the match took up, it was sure suspenseful!"

[7.0] "This match was exactly what it needed to be. It was completely over-the-top with signature moves, finishers, and a massive amount of testosterone. It told a good story too (relative to the time it was given) with Brock trying to avoid another quick defeat and going after Goldberg right away, but then being caught out after deciding to posture to the crowd for only a split second. It then looked like there was gonna be a replay of their Survivor Series match with Goldberg decimating Brock again, but Brock survived the Jackhammer this time, did a crazy agile jump to avoid one of Goldberg's spears, and then put Goldberg away after an onslaught of german suplexes. For being only 4 minutes but filled to the brim with crazy action I ended up really enjoying this. ***1/2"
[8.0] "I enjoyed this match. Two big wrestlers doing big spot after big spot and Lesnar getting his win back. Goldberg's best two matches in his return was his first for the shock value and his last for it actually being a match. More proof that when Brock wants to work, he can."
[10.0] "Probably the most rewatchable match of the year. Just an awesome sprint, I don't rate with a stopwatch, if you can tell me a good story in such a short space of time then I'll happily welcome that. Goldberg's hard work getting back in ring shape definitely paid off here and he can be proud. I've not watched much of his WCW stuff but I'd be surprised if this wasn't his best match. This feud was great, from the shock at Survivor Series to the conclusion here it's one of the most succint stories they've told in ages, something anyone could get into. No one was bored during this one and they fit so much good stuff in 5 minutes time; mad spots like the spear through the barricade and Brock's leap over another spear, callbacks to Survivor Series, just awesome. Wrestlemania 20's wrong firmly righted. Love this match."

[8.0] "Extremely impressive considering how lackluster the rest of Goldberg's in-ring WWE return was. One of his most memorable matches, even though it only happened this year. A great way to go out."
[6.0] "A good 5 minute match. Fast, explosive and with the right ending. Goldberg did a clean job without looking like a joke and Brock looked like he wanted to be there. He even pulled off an insane leap dodging a Goldberg spear showing just how athletic he truly is. A Goldberg match should not have rest holds and complex technical wrestling and this did not. Short and sweet. ***1/2"
[5.0] "Die hier im Ring gezeigte Action, insbesondere natürlich vom Rentner Goldberg, ist eigentlich nicht Matchguide-würdig. Trotzdem ist es ein großes Match, wenn man die Geschichte beide Wrestler und auch die kurze Story zu diesem Match kennt. Das Match selbst lebt dann von Signature und Finishing Moves und unterm Strich war eh klar, dass sich Lesnar hier für all die Peinlichkeiten der Vormonate revanchiert. [4.0] "An Intensität hauen Lesnar und Goldberg hier in weniger als fünf Minuten immerhin mehr raus als Reigns und der Undertaker später in ihrem kompletten Match. Täucht aber trotzdem nicht darüber hinweg, dass hier im Grunde nur Signatur- und Finishing-Moves abgefeuert werden. Für Goldberg wird das aber auch schon das Maximum gewesen sein, ohne größere Schäden zu riskieren."
[4.0] "Kurz und schmerzvoll d. h. gut gemacht auch wenn bei dieser Ansetzung nicht das Optimum herausgeholt wurde, denn so richtig geil hat es hier auch nicht geknallt, aber die kurze Matchzeit kam der Ansetzung auf jeden Fall zugute. Eine Empfehlung würde ich jedoch nicht aussprechen d. h. in meinen Augen muss man das Ding nicht unbedingt gesehen haben."
[9.0] "Moves wise there wasn't much to it but this match got the crowd the most alive all night and that's why these are stars, part timers like these are needed because fans react in a way they did to no one else because everything they do is so over, respect and props to both of them, really entertaining, the perfect match you'd expect between the two"
[5.0] "Crowd went ballistic for this (being the one time they were alive during the second half of the show) but at the end of the day this is a sub 5-min match for a world title on the biggest stage in the world. But even I enjoy Goldberg being destroyed so I will be generous."
[7.0] "I really enjoyed this match actually. It was short but not a squash. It had a lot of high energy and some great spots. It may not be as insane a final match as Shibata's but Goldberg had a better cap to his career then The Undertaker, which actually pisses me off since Takers such a fantastic worker and Goldbergs... well its freaking Goldberg he was never taught psychology beyond 'go crush that guy'. Anyways in spite of that pinch of salt I was satisfied with this match. I'd place it second or third as far as my match of the night's concerned. ****"

Die Crowd ist heiß und steht auch überwiegend hinter Lesnar, was im Vorfeld aber auch zu erwarten war. Die Zeit wird dann zwar nur mit Big Moves gefüllt, hat aber trotzdem noch einen sehenswerten Leap Frog von Lesnar im Petto. Der Titelgewinn von Lesnar war natürlich zu erwarten, dennoch wurde ich positiv überrascht und verteile hier 6 Punkte."
[8.0] "War das beste was man machen konnte. Die Crowd war hier der Wahnsinn, Lesnar abgefeiert und Goldberg ausgebuht. Einzigste Kritikpunkt war das es kein Blut gab und man hier in den 5 MINUTEN mehr Brutalität und Drama zeigen hätte können"
[6.0] "Ten! Ten! Ten! 10 German Supexes, 1x Brüllen und einen F5 brauchte es, um Goldberg den Titel zu entlocken. Der Leap Frog beim Spear war grandios, danach das typische Programm, aber es funktioniert. War in dem Match mehr drin? Vermutlich nicht. Für ein Part-Timer-Match fand ich den Aufbau schlecht und absehbar. Das macht sich auch im Match bemerkbar und so wartet man nur auf das „wie“ und nicht das „wer“. Dennoch ok, auch wenn mir persönlich das Big Time-Feeling fehlte. (***)"

In fact, the fear of Goldberg's body prevented this from being anything more than satisfactory. There were zero crazy release German's that Brock is famous for. Instead we were inside a 'soccer van' version of a Brock Lesnar match. 5. 5"
[7.0] "Ok zuerst muss ich sagen, dass es sehr schwer ist dieses Match zu bewerten, da es doch recht kurz andauerte. Ich aber sagen, dass ich das Match großartig finde. Die beiden machen einfach das beste aus ihrer Situation und so gibt es 5 Minuten lang einfach nur die großen Moves der beiden. Das hört sich vielleicht etwas lahm an, aber durch eine hotte Crowd wurde das ganze sehr unterhaltsam und es fühlte sich aich wirklich groß an. Klar das beste Match der beiden (***1/2)."

[6.0] "Vom Booking her, fand ich das echt gut gemacht. Kurz und knackig mit "Big Moves", das machte in meinen Augen definitiv Sinn. Zudem konnte sich Lesnar für seine Niederlage nicht nur revanchieren, sondern er konnte sich auch ein Stück weit erholen, da er aus dem Jackhammer auskicken durfte und Goldberg danach in überzeugender Weise dominiert und letztlich besiegte."
[8.0] "Sicher verdient im Matchguide. Ich hatte gehofft, dass wir ein Match a la Show/Lesnar Surivvor Series 2002 bekommen würden, weil es die einzige Art und Weise ist, auf der man Lesnar/Goldberg präsentieren kann und genau das bekamen wir auch. Mir egal, ob das Match nur aus Finishern bestand und 4 1/2 Minuten lang war. Für mich waren das ****. Habe jede Sekunde genossen... Perfekt."
[8.0] "Unerwartet extrem unterhaltsam. Dieses Match hat mich von Anfang bis Ende total in den Bann gezogen und war mit Abstand das spannendste Match auf der kompletten Card. Es fängt fulminant an mit suplex City, dann ein Spear aus dem nichts, einem der besten Spear durch die Barrikade und dann der "Schlussphase". Wobei so recht stimmt das nicht, das ganze Match an sich war eine Schlussphase, extrem schnell, mit unerwarteten Moves und NearFalls. Der Leap Frog von Lesnar war atemberaubend und Goldberg hat zum ersten Mal wirklich was gebumbt (9 Suplexes). Wie viel Spaß das Match auch gemacht hat, hatte es nur 4 verschiedene Moves und ging nicht einmal 5 Minuten. Ja, es gab kein Selling und ja wirklich tollen In-Ring Work gab's auch nicht und es hat definitiv kein hohes Sterne Rating, aber ist allemal eines der unterhaltsamsten Matches überhaupt (***)"
[4.0] "They simply got out the best situation possible out of this match-up: two big guys going at it with their finishers in short time and noselling up to the point one cannot stand no more the punishment. Hot crowd helped a lot. ** - **1/4"
[7.0] "Für das, was es war (ein Match, das auf vier Moves basiert), war es absolut in Ordnung! Lesnar darf Goldberg vernichten, aber erst nachdem dieser einen Kapitalfehler begeht. Somit haben beide ihr Gesicht als zerstörerische Maschinen gewahrt und Lesnar darf sich nächstes Jahr auf Reigns "freuen"."
[3.0] "I gave this match * 3/4 stars out of five. I'm not going to trash the match, because it was a very entertaining sprint. However it was spam city, nothing out of the ordinary from both men and literally only four moves executed in the whole match. Nothing great to see, in my opinion."

[1.0] "In fairness, I expected this to be a zero, which sounds like faint praise and I suppose is it, but I do want to give them credit for bettering their previous matches. They certainly tried, and even though there was hardly any content to the match, it did please the crowd. It didn't really please me much as a match but I get why some people like it, just throwing my opinion in the mix. A couple guys smashing into each willy-nilly other for a minute or two is something I feel like I can see in a lot of places with a lot more to offer than this, but I suppose for the severe limitations they were working around they did what they could. Glad Goldberg is done, I was a fan back in the day but he has really looked like he was struggling at times in this run and sounded like he was having a very tough time when he talked about his experience."
[9.0] "The best possible culmination to this feud and Goldberg's return run, and the best possible match these two could have in 2017. Hot from the start, with Brock getting in offense immediately, but once again falls to his cockiness and gets speared. The 4 consecutive spears, especially the first and the one through the barricade, were awesome. However, Lesnar shows his preparation and escapes defeat from what beat him at Survivor Series. Then, the turnaround in momentum is one of the best spots of the entire Mania Weekend on any show; that incredible fucking Leapfrog and how hard Goldberg eats shit on the post was amazing to see. From here, Brock just does what he does best; decimate. He completes the 10 suplexes and lands the F5 for the win. I feel like one additional moment of drama, perhaps Goldberg escaping the 10th suplex for a moment or kicking out of the F5, would've made this truly fantastic, since the final minute or so wasn't quite as hype even if it made sense. My 2nd favorite match of the night, and I can totally see the argument for it being #1. As a retirement match for Goldberg, this was great, as it was a short extended squash, this time with Goldberg on the receiving end for the first and last time. ****, maybe ****1/4 on reflection."
[9.0] "Could you possibly book a better 5 minute match? Seriously, this was the perfect match for this show and easily got the most crowd heat of the night. Goldberg looked fantastic and Brock's athleticism was on full display at points. Loved loved loved this match @ a mediocre WM."

Ausser dem Hype, der um dieses Match gemacht wurde, ist da aber auch so wirklich gar nichts von Qualität. Nicht einmal Spannung. Goldbergs Vertrag läuft aus, natürlich nimmt Lesnar den Gürtel mit. Das Beast hat zweimal einen ordentlichen Bückling für die WCW-Ikone gemacht, natürlich gewinnt Lesnar das Match deutlich. Goldberg hat noch nie für lange Matches gebürgt, natürlich kackt das Ding hier nach wenigen Minuten ab. So what?"

Suplex, Suplex, Suplex, Spear, Spear, Spear, Jackhammer, Kickout, Suplex, Suplex, Suplex, Suplex, Suplex... F-5 Done! Man war das ne wilde fahrt. Ich hatte spaß, die Fans hatten Spaß und am Ende des Tages ist das alles was es braucht. Da es nun wirklich nicht als großartiges Wrestlingmatch angesehen werden kann NUR 7."
[10.0] "This was freaking AWESOME! This was exactly what it needed to be and I'm so glad that it went the way it did. Loved how this played off the Survivor Series encounter and loved Brock kicking out of the Jackhammer. Brock just suplexing the crap out of Goldberg before finishing him off with the F-5 was amazing and Lesnar's counter to the 2nd spear with that leapfrog though. Easily the best match on the show IMO. Those two just brought someting different and unique to the table, and even though Orton/Wyatt garbage sucked all the air out of the arena, they were able to interest the Citrus Bowl more than anyone else on the show. I don't care how long it went, this was just the best thing on the show by far. They actually told a great story and they had some smart callbacks to the previous interactions. The best thing is that you just didn't know when the finish was going to come. This was a perfectly worked match that showcased their strength in the best way and hid all the weaknesses Goldberg has. Brock gave him 10 Germans and all looked stiff as hell, even though it was clear they were safe and Bill actually landed flat on his back. Also that Leap Frog spot.. This was an incredible spectacle, I can't praise it enough. I'd give this ***** if I could, but since it was just under 5 minutes I will end up giving this one **** 1/4."
[10.0] "A unique legit top match of the year contender (currently in my possible top three). I feel like it is a high 9. But, it feels better giving it Tye Dillinger. An all time less than 5 Minute match of all time."
[4.0] "Schwierig für mich zu bewerten. Die Leistung von beiden war besser als beim WM XX hier gab es auch einen schönen Spear durch die Barrikade und schlecht war das hier auch nicht. Trotzdem kann ich hier keine (***1/2) dafür war mir das zu kurz trotz der Leistung, nur 4 Punkte."
[8.0] "Wenn es danach geht was mit diesem Match alles möglich war, war dies hier eigentlich Perfekt für ihre möglichkeiten. Ich habe dieses Match einfach geliebt! 2 absolute Killer haben sich hier einfach komplett auseinander genommen. Sternewertung ist hier natürlich schwer, aber 8 Punkte würde ich schon geben, da es eines der Wrestlemania Matches war die ich am meisten genossen habe. ****"
[4.0] "Für die knapp 5 Minuten war das Match fast schon perfekt. Dennoch geh ich deswegen nicht in die hohen Sterne-Bereiche, was nicht heißen muss, dass mir das Match nicht gefallen hat. Denn es bot tatsächlich Non-Stop Action und hatte zwei starke Momente (Leapfrog und der Spear durch die Barrikade). Der Style gefällt nicht jedem, aber für mich war das allemal eine bessere Lösung als ein 15 Minuten Match der beiden. **"
