Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane & Steve Williams vs. Fatu, Samoan Savage & Samu

[4.0] "An action-packed 3v3 match in which Williams looked impactful against an SST team doing a good job as heels. The finish is a bit lazy, but the match wakes the crowd up a little after the disappointing opener. In-ring quality: 1.5/5. Stakes: 0.25/2. Justification: 0.5/1. Placement on the card: 0.75/1. [7.0] "Dr. Death definitely gets a fair share of shine in this match; he looks positively unstoppable against his Samoan opponents. In turn, the midgnights take their share of bumps. Crowd comes off its feet when Williams bodyslams the savage into his teammates. They also pop big for Cornette swatting Humperdink with his racket. This leads to the finish however and the Samoans come away with it. This lasted a while but had very few low points and the audience was invested the whole way."

[7.0] "There was some really excellent parts of this match particularly when Williams and the Midnights took control of the match but there was also a couple of slow parts and the match probably didn't need to go 18 minutes. Bad finish with Lane knocked into Cornette who was on the apron dealing with Humperdink. Still a really good but not great match."

[7.0] "This is really great and should have been the hot opener in hindsight. The Samoans are their usual wild selves, while Dr. Death is a great match for that, and the Midnights are there to hold this together and do an awesome job. It also nicely furthers the Cornette angle leading into the Clash match, but it was a little disjointed and didn't come off great. The crowd loved this."

[7.0] "Good match, led by a thrilling babyface shine before settling some afterwards. Until the admittedly clunky finish though, the work is sharp here, featuring a typically brilliant Bobby Eaton performance. Dr. Death is spotlighted perfectly also, framed as a difference maker throughout. SST weren't natural opponents for the Midnights but the heat is enough to disguise that in Philadelpha, only loosening down the stretch. ***1/4"

[9.0] "This absolutely ruled. This could be on an episode of modern tv, just insanely ahead of its time for 1989. This match finally showed me what Jim Ross saw in Dr Death for all those years. A bit of a shoddy ending, but just builds intrigue for me in a rematch."

[6.0] "Steve Williams was the stand out performer in the match and the crowd was loving his fire-up spots and hot tags. Im pretty sure Dr Death had like a 3 minute hot tag sequence here. I liked how whenever the Midnights would get out muscled they would tag in Williams like an older brother to avenge them."

[6.0] "Good match, but the best part came near the finish when Williams got his incredible hot tag. Up to this point it was alright, but nothing special. The Samoans were fully in their gimmick and Lane with Bobby were selling nicely for them, letting them get some heat."

[6.0] "This was alright. It worked a slower pace but as already stated, the stiff physicality was great, really its safe to say everyone played their part and looked good despite a few boring points in here."

[6.0] "There were some lulls here and there where the pace slowed enough to impact my enjoyment, but the physicality of the action made up for it. Eaton took quite a beating, and I really enjoyed Williams' explosive offence. The finish was a little flat, but overall this was a fun six-man."

[7.0] "The Midnight Express always make for an enjoyable watch, and the Samoan Swat Team keep pace quite well. They really benefited from the addition of the Samoan Savage. Even Steve Williams looked good here, and that rare during this run."

[7.0] "This was a pretty fun six-man tag match. The Samoan Savage is here to help the work-rate on the Samoan Swat Team side; Fatu (Rikishi) had been carrying Samu a little at times. I really enjoyed the Midnight Express like always. I even enjoyed Dr. Death here, and that barely happened during this run."

[7.0] "Tama left the WWF to become a Samoan Savage with the Samoan Swat Team, which in my opinion is when the team went downhill. Not because of Tama, who was Rikishi's twin brother, but because any time you inject a new guy into a tag team, it's doomed to fail. This is a fun little six-man tag with the Midnight Express and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams. I never tire of watching The Midnight Express work. Jim Ross continues to hump Williams's leg, which I've never understood, but Williams is great in this particular match."

[7.0] "This was a great little six man tag. Some great bumps and Dr Death was on fire throughout. Crowd were loving it. ***1/2"

[8.0] "This crowd is hoooootttt for this one! The action is intense throughout, and Steve Williams looks like a million bucks in this one. All three Samoans played their roles perfectly, and the Midnight Express play great babyfaces in peril. The finish could have been a little cleaner and better executed, but this is a really fun match. Kinda overlooked honestly"

[8.0] "My god this match was fucking awesome! The crowd was simply IN LOVE with Dr. Death here, with a number of spectacular Williams hot tags that nearly took the damn roof off the house. This was quite the tremendous match. [****]"

[7.0] "Such a shame this one couldn't have had a cleaner finish as they were on for a really good match here. Dr Death brought so much fire which was awesome and Eaton played a great babyface, taking some nasty bumps, none more so than the hip toss on the concrete which made me grimace! Lots of crowd heat for the most part too. ***1/2"

[7.0] "If you take away the fact that the match took a long time to start, the moments of action in the ring are very dynamic, and the audience was on fire for this match, whether cheering for one team or booing the other."

[7.0] "The two trios have a physical battle with different Wrestling styles together. The pace is okay and it never gets boring. Midnight Express and Steve Williams have some of the finest moments of the match. ***1/2"

[8.0] "A highly underrated match it seems, I was impressed by the action at multiple points here but certainly at no time more than when Bobby Eaton was roughly thrown onto the bare concrete, punctuated by a large cracking sound. I was also very highly impressed by Steve Williams, who looked like a spectacularly unstoppable force here throwing around his large opponents, and Samu over on the other side, who went the extra mile to do some very good work. The ending was a bit odd but overall a pretty great match that deserves some love."
