Not a big fan of Flair getting involved in the match a bit physically, this is one of those things AEW does every once in a while that I dislike where there's no DQ and ref saw it. Other than that, everyone got a chance to shine and have a moment and Sting getting an ovation was a good touch at the end too."
[5.0] "This match was fine, a little too long in my opinion. I liked the story it was telling between Copeland & Cage. Sting wrestling at his age was impressive & scary. I literally called it when Copeland & Cage were in the ring early on that Cage would tag out, and when it happened, I wasn't really shocked. That chokeslam to Darby looking brutal as shit, I mean, Darby puts his body through so much it's not even funny. The code red from the top rope from Darby to Wayne was great, "I think that's what the move is called." I don't remember the reason, but why was Ric Flair there? I was confused on why he was there. Ric attacking Christian was hilarious, but Cage giving Flair a low-blow had me dying."
[5.0] "Pretty much a continuation of the Darby vs. Christian feud to set up a future singles match between the recently debuted Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. Cage and Allin are by far the best workers in the bout and their time in the ring is the best by far. Darby Allin shows great grappling ability and he's bumping around is as nasty as always. Christian continues being a great chicken-shit heel. The rest of the participants are pretty much just there. Sting has a pass, he's old and battered up and still puts his body on the line. But somehow Copeland does even less. Nick Wayne tries, but there is nothing to write about. Luchasaurus at least serves a purpose, being the one to chokeslam Allin into the apron and he is also the one to get pinned. With all of that being said, it still decent."
[7.0] "The action was super decent and I actually enjoyed it more than I imagine. Good storytelling here and for some reason Darby Allin came up to present real graps for everyone watching it. The presence of Ric Flair was completelly forgetable, thank god."
[7.0] "While it wasnt a particularly special match, this was still a lot of fun and a great way to open the show. The entrances still gave this big match feel, even if the work didnt necessarily follow that, and the crowd were so hot for this. Good work from everyone involved, with Sting and Christian being protected as they should be. Tag rules were followed a whole lot too. Really good stuff."
[5.0] "[2.5*] This was a pretty okay tag match, TV level bout. I understand the meaning of doing this on PPV because of the buys, tickets and everything, Adam needs to be on PPV, but I do not get why this match had more time than Moxley vs OC, with very less meaning. I think Tony Khan sometimes under appreciates his workhorses. Nonetheless, this was an okay bout, with the best parts being the entrances and the facepaints. Ric Flair on this was so bad but Christian low blowing him popped me. This Sting trio should win the titles before he retires tho."
[5.0] "That was a below average match, not a big deal, maybe not a good choice for opener for the show, but nothing huge to complain really. The Ric Flair stuff was a little nice, it served the purpose to entertain and generate a reaction from the crowd, and the dynamics between the wrestlers were very normal, kind of mediocre. For me it's a shame we couldn't see more of Christian Cage and Adam Copeland there, I hope they're earmarking something for the future because this feud is very good. The reaction of the crowd after they were both in the ring gave me chills - {**1/2}"
[8.0] "It's a real good six man tag team match with some good action and chemistry between all six men and it played a part in the Copeland Vs Cage feud."
[7.0] "First of all, the entrances were all phenomenal, they really made the match feel important. The action was enjoyable, nothing outstanding but good wrestling all throughout the match with a couple of great spots revolving Darby Allin. The crowd was super into it and probably made the match better. Luchasaurus really impressed me here, he played very well the roll of the destructive monster. Christian Cage hitting Flair with a low blow and then running from Copeland were hilarious moments and Sting getting his flowers by the Los Angeles crowd was a nice way to pay tribute to one of wrestling's greatest legends. 7/10 - 3.5*/5*"

[7.0] "A rock-solid opener from a massive collection of combatants who made up to the mark. Darby's sickening bumps and the sneaky antics from The Patriarchy gave a very entertaining run towards the colossal ending thereby adding more salt to the cooking blazer of an encounter b/w Adam & Christian. Even Ric Flair had an altercation with the TNT Champion which looked hilarious. 3.5 out of 5 stars!"
[6.0] "A solid enough opener. The action was standard, nothing too fancy though some of the shenanigans were fun. They were teasing Adam/Christian but they never touched each other but Christian was able to get his hands on Flair. The faces won as they should however, I wished they did more to celebrate Sting other than this mediocre match to send him off. ***"
[7.0] "Basic tag formula but this was a good match. Darby was worked over for heat, and he took some awesome bumps during it because of course, he did. They teased some Edge/Christian interactions but they never got physical, plus they also got a Ric Flair spot in. The people loved Sting, and he got to his thing too, I enjoyed this overall.***1/2"
[5.0] "A pretty standard opening tag match outside of Darby's bumps. "Coffin Drop on The Patriarchy" is probably the most cringy call of the year but otherwise this was a completely fine opener. The opening match is best used as a warm up act with a little novelty and nostalgia, and that's pretty much what this was."
[7.0] "A fun opener for the main show. I was here for this show live, and it was an absolute honor to be in attendance for one of Stings last matches and his last match in Los Angeles. I was hoping for a bit more from Copelands first PPV match in AEW, but I still enjoyed this for what it was. The entrances from both trios were great as well and I love that Cages group is now called The Patriarchy."
[7.0] "It was a good match, although I think it was more of a setup for Christian and Edge's match, Darby added to the pace of the match and his presence on the match was very effective, Christian is also a masterpiece in my opinion and proved that he plays the heel character perfectly. 7/10"
[7.0] "This was a good "party match" opener that got the crowd fired up, while still letting all of the wrestlers have effective showcases. Not a ton of special spots or performances (though Darby continues to be a very creative wrestler who finds new ways to make old moves look more interesting), but Christian Cage, in particular, should be lauded for his classic chickensh*t heel performance in this one. The post-match farewell to Sting was a really touching moment, as well."
[6.0] "To begin with I would like to say that I was expecting something much more entertaining in terms of the creation of this supposed future fight between Adam and Christian, but it is clear that this time they have developed things that to my taste were not so much and although the fight is enjoyable, because it is, I will not give it more rating because I do not think it deserves more."

The entrances were appropriately hype, and Darby's apron chokeslam bump was the gruesome takeaway that we can expect now. Copeland looked decent, Sting didn't do much, neither did Christian."
[5.0] "Fun opener with some cool moments and spots. This match really just mechanically builds up the Edge and Christian feud which is the highlight of the match. 3/5"
[7.0] "I enjoyed this for a PPV opener. Team Sting's entrance was really cool, although the three bats put together did look a little too phallic. The match itself benefitted from the tag rules being adhered to meaning Christian was able to avoid having to face Copeland. I felt that Christian running off did a great job of showing him up as a selfish heel and continued the set up for the inevitable Christian v Copeland match. All in all this was a solid match which kept me entertained."
[4.0] "Best part of this match was Christian's character and entrance. Beyond that it was a mediocre match not deserving of a PPV, though it was nice for the fans to get their last taste of Sting in the ring within California, the match did not move anything forward. I'll say this, the Edge and Christian 1v1 match at the end of the feud will be worth all the mediocrity in the meantime."
[7.0] "This was restrained but good. Christian was tremendous, feel good spots for the babyfaces. Luchasaurus was produced to mostly do things he can do well and we got some Darby vs Nick Wayne goodness."
"Decently fun match, and an acceptable opener. Darby bumping like a madman is always fun. Ric Flair interference sucks and it's a terrible shame he's involved in the company, but I suppose we'll have to suffer through wrestlers selling for a pensioner. Christian is still fun although Nigel on comms hammering home the father figure stuff is getting a little too WWElike for my sensibilities. I have no use for Adam Copeland, but he's over in the buildings so that adds to these matches. Luchasarus with some cool power moves and Nick Wayne is full of promise A huge upgrade on recent PPV openers involving the MJFed/ROH tag title nonsense. 3 stars."
[5.0] "Pretty standard trios stuff, fine for a PPV opener, not very interesting though. Flair doing his Flair stuff isn't really fun, it's just kind of sad at this point."
[7.0] "Wow, that Arm-Drag from the third rope by Darby Allin was brutal, excellent selling from Nick Wayne, the truth is that I also feel that Allin takes more risks than necessary for his matches, but well, it's his style of selling lethal moves and it Respect, I hope it doesn't have serious consequences later, let's see, something that does bother me, I know it's good, Edge, Cage, Sting and even Luchasaurus are at a certain age, they have to be more careful, but almost everything went to Darby Allin, I also think that the fact that, well, it's storytelling that Christian Cage didn't technically do shit, but, a little action he could have done, hence, good technique, Edge did look pretty good, same with Luchasaurus, this match is fine, But, those things must be polished and treated with care."
[8.0] "Pretty good opener for the ppv. We all knew that the main focus of this match should be sting and showcasing the newly arrived Adam Copeland. The presentation of the match was great, from the entrances it felt special with everyone on Sting team having the facepaint. The in ring action was perfectly fine, no one is going to remember the in ring action but perfectly fine match to start the ppv."
[5.0] "Here is the most typical Collision main event. The only good thing is that here it lasted half an hour. Absolutely basic construction and the same content. It's a drawn-out and boring heel domination at first, although Christian's clever tricks are interesting to watch, but he didn't do anything really interesting here. Then one hot tag and the ending pretty much followed. Moreover, the ending came out very strange. Ric Flair attacks a participant in the fight in front of the referee, and this seems to be normal, although in a good way it is a disqualification. As a result, Cage escaped, and the faces confidently unraveled the remnants of this group. The only positive thing I can highlight is the teamwork of the faces, because Sting and ex-Edge have great chemistry with each other."
[6.0] "first of all, let's say that the entrances were awesome, especially Christian's. match started very good by Darby's exciting performance and sells, especially that Chokeslam on the apron. Wayne and Darby were the best competitors of this match. I haven't seen anything special from Sting, and he made the match kinda boring. match was pretty normal until that bizarre ending! why did Christian left the match? he's a heel and usually win by interference, but why showing him so coward in an important PPV match? that final spot ruined the whole match for me. Christian Cage continues to play his role perfectly, and it's nice to see Nick Wayne finally starting to show some personality as well by mocking Ric Flair and taunting the crowd. Speaking of Flair, I could have done without him getting physical but at least that was resigned to a small spot. The match was what it needed to be, and the faces got the expected victory. ***"
"Match isn't bad, but also isn't great. Nice to see that Sting, Adam and Christian still able to wrestle on a pretty good level. Ric Flair made this match a bit worse, because he isn't fit nowadays and just make everything a bit cringier"
[6.0] "It was about all you could expect out of a match that you wanted to have both Sting and Ric Flair involved, not to mention two others pushing 50 in the ring. It was entertaining enough for what it was, and Christian Cage continues to currently be the best heel in professional wrestling."
[4.0] "IT was just a TV match with bad nonsense ending. Like why Sting team isn't dq'ed after that Flair attack? And why os referee forgetong that he need to call match and go help flair. To long not a lot of action nothing to remember going forward. Is Cage leaving his team leading to something?"
[7.0] "Once more the AEW show opens up with professionals knowing how to have a proper match and once again they give my a false hope of a decent show. Seeing Knox as the referee made me feel anxious, but they actually stuck to the rules and let everybody get in only for the finish. Wayne has really grown on me here and I think he was fantastic as a Dominik Mysterio type of heel. Christian was great and Luchasaurus looked okay as a powerhouse - the only thing I wish was gone from this match is Flair, who is just dettached from reality when you look at him. Nice opener though."
[9.0] "I'm a complete Sting mark, but this may go down as one of the most memorable opening matches, in my opinion. I think it would be understandable though if this match wasn't the average AEW fan's cup of tea. This was very much a more "sports entertainment" match and a ring-work clinic. Just, in my opinion, this kicking off the show made the atmosphere feel huge. And then, the pomp and circumstance with Sting's crew was just too marvelous not to enjoy whatever they did in this match. And then, for Christian Cage to bail on his team in the end adds further intrigue to the direction of his character. Near perfect opener to a great show."
[6.0] "It was enjoyable, not a whole lot to it. I really wished there was more Edge vs Christian action but the entrances were absolutely phenomenal. Edges face paint was next level bad ass, and it really helped the match. Darbys spots pretty much carried the actual match, and Ric Flair getting low blowed was kind of funny. Overall the theatrics were better than the match, but still solid."
[7.0] "Fun party match on the road to retirement for Sting. Darby was his usual self taking bumps, Luchasaurus was the big monster to overcome and Christian running away from Cope was very fun. Good piece of business without being anything crazy in terms of in ring quality"
[8.0] "Good six man tag team match. I just have one question...how in the hell was Adam's team not disqualified after Ric chopped Christian? That was preposterous. And Darby has to slow down with those insane bumps as he will be a walking corpse in 10 - 15 years"
[8.0] "Good trios to kick off the thing. A bit slow sometimes but after that mad apron Chocksleam they started doing some really nice tandem stuff that was entertaining to see. The story between Copeland and Cage continues and it's going to be dramatic. ***3/4"
[8.0] "By and large, it was for this match that I turned on this PPV from AEW. It's great that they put it in the opening. It was fantastic when the fans in the arena continued to sing Adam Copeland's theme. And I was completely satisfied with what I saw. There wasn't much of Sting in the match, but that's even Plus, there was an unreasonably large amount of it during the collage match, and this greatly affected the dynamics. In the same match, the dynamics were all right. I like that the booking of Adam and Christian's feud is long-term, they have yet to meet in a singles match. ****"
[7.0] "Had a lot of fun with this. Very by-the-books, but the novelty of seeing Sting in AEW still hasn't worn off, and it kept the crowd hot as an opener. Christian's children's choir entrance was very memorable, and regardless of how poorly AEW has handled Copeland, it's still exciting to see him get close to wrestling Christian. Honestly, should've been a Dynamite main event. Christian selling for Flair is absurd, but whatever, I'm willing to cut this some slack due to being a low-stakes storyline. There is a part of me that feels like these guys can be used better, but it's very clear at this point that Tony Khan's booking style does not gel with the expectations of someone more familiar with WWE's."
