[5.0] "That match was meh. You got your face vs. heel thing with Piper begging on the ground, Snuka getting his comeback when he founds out he is bleeding (alla Hogan) though I must say the dive outside the ring by Snuka was brutal and welcomed in a rather dull match where nothing really happened..."
[9.0] "I was never the biggest Snuka fan, even before all of his considerable baggage was wildly known. The guy certainly had athletic ability and his high flying style was influential to a certain extent, but his wrestling style never grabbed me much. However, I will always be more than happy to watch some prime Roddy Piper, and this is of course one of his most famous feuds after he memorably smashed a coconut on Snuka's head on Piper's Pit. Snuka wasn't bad in this but it was really the Piper show, the way he bumped, sold, and stooged against Snuka's offense was absolutely tremendous and the fans were absolutely rabid for it. Piper gave it back to Snuka well also, some great looking punches and even a (fairly tame) chair shot that let Snuka get a nice blade job going, amping up the action further. The fight spilled to the outside, and Piper ended up getting back into the ring just in time to beat the count, with Snuka just a second too late. Perhaps not the most satisfying finish ever but effective to keep the feud going after giving the crowd a very entertaining fight."
[9.0] "Great match, especially for WWF from that era, Piper and Snuka always had great chemistry and this is just another example of them having good matches, Nicely paced match and a satisfying match on top. (****)"
[7.0] "Man, Jimmy Snuka looked realistic when he was trying to kill Roddy Piper at the end of this. I wonder how he learned what that would look like. This is a good match for a chapter in a feud but certainly not a big blow-off match. Snuka gets a good cut here and Piper plays up his sickening heel attitude by rubbing Superfly's blood all over his chest. Piper, of course, is a top all-time heel, and this is a good example of the work he can do, but this match isn't an all-timer by any stretch of the imagination."
[9.0] "This is a compact fiery brawl that I could recommend to any fan. After an excellent coked-up Piper promo, both men enter the arena to no music. The lack of music added a lot to the overall presentation, as you could feel the intensity grow as Snuka storms his way down the aisle. They was no time and start wailing at each other. We get great brawling from both men, with Snuka looking like a madman as he stalks Piper. Piper sells tremendously. Snuka bleeds and Piper is able to fight at his pace. He throws some excellent punches here, but the cherry on top is Piper slowly realising Snuka is beginning to shrug off his punches and make his comeback. The non-finish we got here was excellent too, and it allowed for Piper to keep some of his heat. Snuka's big dive over the top rope felt like a bigger deal than his famous cage dive. I was not expecting a Jimmy Snuka match to go this hard!"
[8.0] "Great, short brawl. Excellent setting and commentary. Piper is thoroughly nasty in this match and Snuka sells his beating great. Crowd goes wild when Snuka looks at his own hands to see them covered in blood, inspiring his big comeback. Snuka's dive is a hell of a spot."
[7.0] "A really cool match. I prefer their match at MSG in the following month but this is a great angle. The match starts off hot with Piper and Snuka fighting with each other. Piper gets control and bloodies Snuka up with a chair when the ref takes a tumble and then comes the Snuka comeback which is very simply Snuka not selling Piper, looking at his hands before shaking like a man possesed. And then the dive to the outside was wonderous. Even wih 2023 eyes when every man and his dog does 620 dives to the floor, it felt like a big moment because they built it up so very well. And then the pull apart was great too. Piper's selling was godly. ***1/2"
