Bryan Danielson vs. Necro Butcher

[7.0] "Exactly what you want from a sub-10 minute clash of styles. Danielson brings the fight to Necro, both men take an excursion from their comfort zones and they wind up bloodied & bruised ***1/2"

[10.0] "A perfect match from both guys. Total mismatch in styles that they work expertly. Loved every second of it. Perfect length."

[7.0] "A good brawl between one of the best wrestlers of all time and one of the best brawlers of all time. Necro puts in a great performance, trying desperately to escape Bryan's many holds, but Bryan puts in an even better one. He flips a switch and brutalizes Necro with anything he can find. Bryan has never been known as a brawler, but matches like these prove he can do just that and succeed. ****"

[9.0] "This was an impromptu match, and it definitely was wrestled like two guys thrown into a den with no plan or preparation. All the action came across as very spontaneous and volatile. Case in point, the chair throwing. The blood was particularly gruesome and viscous given how early into the action it occurred. Anytime, Bryan tried to fancy schmancy technical wrestling, Necro would just totally resist and refuse to play ball. Things like that are so exciting and what you want to see in such radical styles clashes. Necro is a victim so getting viciously pwned is a good finish."

[9.0] "Bryan wanted a fight and he sure got one. Necro brought out the violence in Bryan who used his wrestling skills too. Great match."

[7.0] "This isn't Joe vs Necro levels of violence if I had to compare, but it was a fun little competitive match for Bryan to exercise his demons."

[9.0] "This is a fantastic clash of styles that shows the amazing versatility and adaptability of Bryan. I love how the match quickly devolves into a bloody brawl after Bryan learns early on that his typical work isn't going to do the job against Necro Butcher. From then on we get a gritty fight and it is just awesome."

[8.0] "This was an awesome clash of styles. Bryan tries to wrestle in the early going but the match quickly turns into an ultra stiff brawl once the men begin to trade some brutal headbutts. (****1/4)"

[10.0] "This has always been one of my favorite PWG matches, and it still remains exactly that. It tells the tale of the in-ring styles of Bryan Danielson & Necro Butcher perfectly; Danielson tries to ground the match right away, and he succeeds in that quite well & gets to control the first stages of the bout - then eventually Necro HEADBUTTS himself back into things; his forehead opens up by those headbutts & that leads to maybe my favorite moment of the match - Danielson scratching the cut w/ his fingers while he has Necro in a chokehold. Brutal & straight up nasty stuff. And then it's like Necro REALLY wakes up after smelling his own blood; he goes to town on Danielson, classic chaotic Necro style outside the ring, slamming him on chairs & trying to suffocate him w/ a plastic shopping bag. That of course pisses Danielson off even more & after that, every strike he delivers to Necro comes w/ extra intensity & stiffness behind them. A perfect example of how wonderful a true styles clash can be in pro wrestling. ****1/2"

[8.0] "Necro Butcher brought a different side of Bryan Danielson and they had a startingly bloody brawl, an intense performance from Danielson that made him looked insane and indestructible. The randomness of the pairing and the lack of coherent grudge hurts this a little, but it remains a surprising and special match."
