[7.0] "I wouldn't call it a "great" match but it's still a very good one. I can't praise old school competitive wrestling enough. At this point, contest driven, logic driven, power dynamic, selling heavy bouts are a thousand times more interesting to me than watching cool spots. This is the kind of wrestling that actually makes me feel something and keeps me engaged. I'm not sure if this was my first time seeing the Freebirds but it was definitely among my earliest impressions and they didn't disappoint. I've heard a lot about their legendary feud with the Von Erichs so I'm really excited to dive into World Class. The match itself was really good. Of course it was not perfect. The second fall was building super strong but the hot tag didn't fully land for me. I'm not sure if it came too early or too late but the momentum felt like it slipped slightly. Still it was very enjoyable. I loved the fast pace chaos. And the selling? Dudeeee! These days you'll see someone isolated for minutes and feel absolutely nothing. A lot of that comes from changes in the industry, the audience, even things like ring size, but selling is a huge part of it. This match eels too fast and chaotic to be ad-libbed yet at the same time too natural, coincidental, organic, reactionary and real-time to be fully pre-planned. I wouldn't call this a must watch but if you're interested or looking forward to it, I can confidently say you won't be disappointed or feel like your time was wasted."
[6.0] "Now that's a good tv match, on paper this looked kinda interesting, and it was interesting throughout the match, good work by all, some good stuff but nothing really spectacular or special but it's a good tv match. **3/4"
[6.0] "Even though there's nothing spectacular about the match itself, everything clicks with the Memphis territory at this point. This is the Freebirds debut, and I can't state enough how much I love Terry Gordy's promo. Lawler and Dundee are in the middle of a feud against The Blonde Bombers, but this also felt like a feud starter. Considering that everything is connected in the territory, we might still see the best out of the two teams."
[8.0] "This is the TV debut of the Fabulous Freebirds. They ma de a whole deal about the pretty face of Michael Hayes before the match. Lawler has a glorious perm. Dundee put over the new heels in the first fall then is a face in peril in the second fall before a great lawler comeback. TV time limit drawl, they brawl everywhere in the studio ! Best studio match of 1979."
