[8.0] "So i rewatched this match for the first time since seeing it live and i am glad to say it was as good as i remember and is still one of my favourite Collison matches of all time. It felt really different to every ladder match i have ever seen which added to it as the pace builds methodically as you have two men in the match who are more focused on Grappling and hard hitting strikes then your usual high flyers you have in a ladder match which was really refreshing for this type of match. As you would expect from the two men it was a match full of stiff striking exchanges with so many hard hits which were just great especially Andrade's rolling elbow and Buddy pulling him off the ladder into a knee strike, I thought the ladder spots in this match were done very well especially the sunset flip bomb off the top of the ladder. I remember the story being built well back watching it live and i was really invested in this match then so i will give it props for that on the review. I really like the finish with Julia getting involved and the Handcuffs as it showed the deep hatred in this feud and showed Andrade was willing to do anything to defend the honour of his family including throwing a poor girl off a ladder through a table. Overall a really great and gritty take on the ladder match which makes it a fun watch with hard hitting moves, high intensity, well done high spots and a well done finish which concluded the feud well. One of my favourite Collison matches ever. (****1/4)"
[8.0] "[3.75*] Incredible Ladder Match, even better than their first encounter on Collision #1. Incredible storytelling and awesome holy shit moments. I loved this feud."
[7.0] "Stiff offense and good use of the ladders, especially the avalanche powerbomb onto another ladder. I thought Julia Hart's involvement and the whole finish involving the handcuffs felt overdone."
[8.0] "This was a great ladder match. What I liked about this match was that it wasn't a total spotfest, they took care to tell a story here. The spot of the match was the sunset powerbomb that Andrade El Idolo gave Buddy Matthews from a ladder outside the ring onto another ladder. Since the ladder didn't break, Matthews felt the full force of it. Another great spot was Matthews countering a spear attempt, at least that's what it looked like, and gave a double underhook DDT onto a different ladder that was outside the ring. This was great, definitely one of the best matches in the early days of Collision. ****1/4"
[8.0] "[4.25*] What an incredible match, Buddy and Andrade have incredible technique in their moves, their moves and spots are always well executed and beautiful to see. Buddy Matthews' selling was incredible in this match and the spots with the ladders were cool, a really good match to watch. The end of the match was excellent and so was Julia Hart's involvement."
[8.0] "Thoughttul, well laid out match with great pacing of gimmicks and spots. A lot happened in this match stretched into 20 minutes, with a fair amount of high spots that seemed to be done pretty safely. Well developed stakes to the match, enjoyed the pacing of the story so far, and great lead off match for a two hour show. Match had a handcuff spot that seemed to be done smoothly for once, and credit to the camera team for not messing up any of the visuals they were supposed to in this fight. Good usage of manager, Julia Hart took a good bump to end the match, humorous addition by commentary that she has her managers license, enjoy small things like that. Buddy and Andrade, unsurprisingly, have pretty great chemistry. Andrade has continued to use his blocked/dodge kick turning into a spinning back elbow to great effect as a big spot, had another one in this match that looked absolutely deadly. Fun stuff, really solid stuff, 8.5/10"
[8.0] "This match was simply fantastic. The story going into it was already captivating, and they went on to tell an even more incredible tale between the ropes and outside of the ring alike. That includes one of the best finishes of the entire year. An explosive match that was rich in story and flush with displays of absurd athleticism. 4 stars, 8 out of 10."
[8.0] "An awesome match between two guys that I'm really glad are getting more spotlight with the introduction of Collision. I've been a huge fan of Buddy since his time in WWE/NXT, so it's really cool to see him get this kind of spotlight. As for Andrade, it's great to see him back in AEW and it's great to see him winning at that. The ending spot with Julia crashing into Buddy and, thus, the table in the corner was a nice touch as well."
[8.0] "This was a hard-hitting, physical match between two guys that haven't gotten much of a chance on Dynamite like many fans would've expected. Once I accepted that the object of this match was going to be secondary I enjoyed this a ton. It's been awhile since I enjoyed an AEW match as a fan as much as this one. They started with hard chops and the intensity never left. There were one or two contrived stupid spots but that's a lot less than what we usually get in modern ladder matches. They kept big spots to a minimum, and all of them were memorable. Andrade's back elbow looked absolutely incredible. The sunset bomb onto the ladder was great. Buddy pulling Andrade off a ladder into a knee strike was an awesome counter. The finishing stretch had a lot of drama involving handcuffs and Julia Hart and it was all well executed. I'm loving Julia Hart as a manager. Great match. ****"
[8.0] "A very good TV ladder match. When I saw they were going to do this it felt a little out of nowhere but it's just continuing the storyline between Andrade and Malakai. Plus, it's good wrestling and you can't be against good wrestling even if it's coming out of nowhere, good surprise !"
[7.0] "Overall good ladder match. These two have great chemistry and had a pretty good spotfest type of ladder match. Liked the handcuff spot not being the finish for once. One issue I did have was Andrade pushing Julie Hart off the ladder it just did not feel right to me."
[6.0] "This was fine, but it was still rather disappointing. I didn't like the structure or the pacing as it was just two guys slowly trying to get to their next spot. Spots that weren't even that impressive for 2023 imo. Still give credit for working a physical match, but ultimately came off as generic."
[6.0] "A handful of really fun spots, and a crowd that enjoyed the spectacle, but overall nothing too memorable above and beyond your standard ladder match spectacle. Add in some needlessly convoluted and convinient handcuff silliness, and you're left with a sold effort that won't live long in the memory."
[5.0] "Violent. Powerbomb on the ladder was great. Striking from Andrade was great, the selling from Mathews also good. Stuff involving Julia Hart was convoluted albeit cool (especially the table bump). Nothing in here that would make me call it a 'special match' or anything though"
[8.0] "A great fight to start this weekly episode of Collision. It's a great idea to give them a chance to make a fight like this, even if the story is not a big deal, I really liked the fight and I hope that in the future they go other ways to develop more in AEW these two great wrestlers."
[3.0] "Below average. We've seen a lot of illogical spot fests already in ladder matches so it was just more of the same unfortunately. I had high hopes. Nobody going to climb even once until 12 plus minutes into the match is baffling. The ladder spots were unoriginal. The cuffs just felt tacked on Gaga. Fun for what it was but not a good wrestling match. I think had they built it where it felt like Andrade actually cared about getting the mask in the match nearly as much as he acted the last few weeks this could've been great. I can see Matthews just beating him up not caring about climbing but Andrade should've been constantly going for it getting foiled by Buddy using dirty tactics. Would've been incredible. Instead we got this *3/4"
[8.0] "These two men are nuts. This was another hard-hitting, physical match between the two that really went to another level thanks to the ladder stipulation. Both guys took some nasty bumps, especially the sunset flip powerbomb onto the ladder. I enjoyed the creative finish with the handcuffs and Andrade climbing the ladder with Julia Hart on his back. Fantastic stuff all around. ****"
[8.0] "Outside of the whole deal with the handcuffs, because that felt like it was taking forever to me and brought this down for me some, I really enjoyed this match. They brought the intensity from the start with the back-and-forth chops, and it never went away from this. Both guys took some pretty wicked bumps in this one, especially that sunset flip powerbomb that Buddy Matthews took off the laser onto another ladder. I wasn't into the handcuff spot, but Andrade pushing Julia into the table with Buddy was a pretty satisfying ending to this thing.****"
[8.0] "Such good performers will not be able to show a bad match between them. It's impossible. And this match was better than anything else, it wasn't a spotfest, which sometimes ladder matches turn into, it was a match where the bad guy got his ass kicked for his merits. My favorite spot of the match was from the ladder in the ringside to the horizontal ladder, it was just incredible. Ending was not that good, as i hoped, but still ok"
[10.0] "This is a monster ladder match. Utterly sensation with two huge men taking big bumps, the best of which was Matthews's powerbomb bump. There was also some good conventional exchanges of wrestling moves. It had a quiet phase or two and it wasn't always clear who was in the ascendency but the eventual twists and turns made up for it and it must have taken incredible coordination between them to pull them off. It was just wonderful. I'm surprised it's only rated 8.06 at the time of this review."
[6.0] "Good match. Pretty competitive. Incredible power and resilience shown by Andrade. Some incredible offense from Matthews. Julia Hart filling her role as valet to a T in the match. Some good exchanges between these two. Good showcase feud for Andrade and the House of Black."
"Very solid match, easily the best of the night. Lots of scary ladder spots, some youve seen before and maybe some you havent. The finish was a bit messy, may have been a botch with the handcuffs? Looked like they covered it up well if so. Then the actual finish spot looked a bit weak, Hart didnt sell the table spot well and the impact looked kinda meh. All in all, a super entertaining match, just wish the finish was executed a bit better."
[9.0] "For the 20 minutes this was on, that was the perfect opening for the show buddy matthews and andrade el idolo did perfect strikes the whole match, the ladder shots looked perfect the facials were amazing julia hart helped the match look even more legit, this was sensational."
[8.0] "I was looking forward to this ever since their match on the debut collision. They really delivered, though this suffered from guys not trying to win thing that ladder matches often suffer from. Several crazy bumps, including during the commercial break, and these guys looked like two beefy men hell bent on beating the other one up. How refreshing! Believable selling from both guys and Andrade had several sneaky counters that made it seem like a fight. Not a fan of the handcuff stuff but it paid off for a decent finish getting Julia Hart involved. Loving collision because its showing off guys like this who weren't given much of a chance on the other shows. Who knew Buddy Matthews could go like this? He had his arm popped back into its socket on the commercial break too! Not a perfect match, but it really delivered."
[6.0] "I came into this with really high expectations but the match was kinda disappointing. Yeah there were some fun spots but the lack of selling and dumb finish really took away from my enjoyment. I'm still really into this whole Andrade/House of Black storyline though and I'm interested to see where it goes next."
[5.0] "I kind of hated this. I know ladder matches are hard to innovate at this point but this felt so uninspired. Most of the action was trying to get big ladder spots and not the mask hanging above the ring, but the big spots weren't even that memorable. Buddy Matthews takes a sunset flip powerbomb and gets back up like nothing seconds later. That's all before the ending which was really dumb. Julia and Buddy just look like morons for that."
[5.0] "Matches like this one are nice to watch with your brain turned off, but if you try to relly analize the events happening on the ring, it really seems stupid. Well, Andrade had already beaten Buddy once and House of Black's genius plan was to use handcuffs to make Buddy win this time. Andrade found a way out in less than a minute."
[10.0] "While I can't claim I've been a huge fan of the House of Black as a unit, I have liked Buddy a lot ever since I checked out his work on 205 Live in 2018, that feud with Mustafa Ali was tremendous. He is once again bringing the goods here as we are blessed with a ladder match on free TV, and he's up against a seemingly reinvigorated Andrade who has been working his butt off since returning. A 1 on 1 ladder match feels almost rare nowadays so it was cool to see how they worked it. Ultimately it felt like a fantastic blend of awesome spots and heated emotion, as Andrade really sold that he wanted to make Buddy pay for stealing his mask. This ruled."
[8.0] "I thought this was a very good match I thought it had some really cool spots I think that this match could have been saved for a ppv because I think this match need to be on a ppv other than that this was a really good match and I really enjoyed it.****1/4"
[8.0] "Really good match to start the show. Andrade is fantastic, is awesome that he's back on TV. Buddy is also great, the guy just needed time on the screen to prove it, with or without the House of Black. Some good spots and nice angles, even the participation of Julia Hart was great. ****."
[9.0] "This was great and on the verge of amazing. It was different from a regular ladder match with the mask being on the line, so it felt like more was at stake for Andrade because culture. The spots were few and far between with most of them having a good amount of build to it. This felt like a fight with all the stiff and hard hitting strikes. I like it when the ladder (or ladders in this case) is a huge component of this type of match rather than it just being something on the side in a match like TLC or a lot of other AEW ladder matches. Also, the selling by both guys was tremendous. The only complaints I have are how it did feel like they were trying to set up spots instead of trying to win the match. They probably couldve shaved a bit of time off this because it did feel a bit long. The sunset flip onto the ladder looked cool and was awesome for a bit until Buddy recovered in less than a minute. At least it didnt seem like he completely no-sold it. The whole end sequence did feel a tad overbooked, but not to the point of being ridiculous. Overall, a very good ladder match that everyone should give a chance. 8.5/10. ****1/4"
[9.0] "Great opening match between Andrade and Buddy right here which was an even better match than their great bout on the first episode of Collision which took place a few weeks ago, they made the best of one of the best stipulations in this business and did a bunch of great spots, even during Matthews' heat there were spots. The rhythm was very good and the match was absolutely crazy."
[8.0] "Great ladder match with a very good, creative finish. One complain I had with their previous match that was still visible here, which is the pacing seems kinda off. They do great shit and cool spots but the pacing could be better. Still a great match. ****"
[8.0] "What an amazing match. Collision has been really good to Andrade. He was phenomenal here, and Buddy was as well. The pace was just right, and all the ladder stuff was pretty logical (compared to normal modern ladder matches at least). I especially liked what they did when they brought out the cuffs, although I was expecting someone from LFI to help Andrade, seeing as they never formally disbanded or anything. The story between Malakai and Andrade seems incomplete still though, especially since this match could've easily been the end to the feud. Looking forward to seeing how Andrade takes on the rest of the House of Black."
[8.0] "[ 4.25/5 ] The general reaction I saw when this match was announced was hesitation, and confusion. These two men had a very good match during the first ever episode of Collision, and they ran it back quite early here. But wow. It delivered and then some. These two are just amazing when combined in the ring together and all the high spots were great to watch. I'm highly anticipating the eventual Malakai vs Idolo match but it's got some steep competition to live up to."
[8.0] "It was stiff enough for a gimmick match, it was brutal, it was tough, it was angry and I loved it. I can't recall anything that I hated from this match. Both men put their almost a game in the ring and this was a great opener, I also enioyed the ending even though handuff thing is something that I ain't like easily. Ladder match is a good fit for this mini feud's blowoff and I hope it doesen't continues after that. Also it's great to see Andrade finally doing some meaningful things after 3 years in the company."
[3.0] "I didn't really understand the booking for this. Why is Andrade taking on Buddy and not Malakai? That's who is gripe is really with isn't it. On the other hand, if they're making Andrade go through the stable to reach the leader then fine, so why have a ladder match straight off the bat? I also don't really enjoy most ladder matches because we get too many cooperative spots and the ladder becomes the focus of every single spot. And this one went the same way with more and more ladders being introduced, and even tables. I also have to note that even though this won't affect my rating, the idiots in the crowd chanting for tables need firing into the sun. The handcuff spot was stupid because why wouldn't Buddy just walk around Andrade and climb the ladder and win? The whole booking of this was just awful which is a massive shame because these two are both good workers who could have put on a great match but instead they made the gimmick the focus of the match instead of Andrade's storyline fury with HoB."
[8.0] "This was a damn good ladder match! I will be honest here, I haven't seen all the stuff that preceded this match with their rivalry, all I knew was that The House Of Blakc stole Andrade's mask but I really enjoyed this match. They managed to pull out a lot of cool spots: the Sunset Bomb that is always insane in ladder matches, the handcuffs that were used very well and the final table spot which was a good way to end the match and make El Idolo regain his mask. The interferences by Julia Hart were not too excessive, I think that her envolvement was coherent with what they were trying to do. So yeah very exciting bout here, good stuff. Now I want to see Andrade against Malakai. ****1/4"

[7.0] "As a casual viewer, you learnt nothing about these two going into the match - their feelings and motivations, their deep seated rivalry - just something vague about the importance of masks and family in lucha libre. Neither man really took a moment to connect with the fans during the bout either. That said, physically this was super impressive with a plethora of wicked bumps & stunts. And they nailed everything - even the overbooked beats that threatened to stray into 'last days of WCW' territory ***1/2"
[8.0] "Andrade on Collision is fire and his matches with Matthews are always great: the moonsault at the beginning was great, Buddy's offense during the break looked brutal, the ddt on the ladder was sick and sunset flip powerbomb was amazing despite being already seen. The ending with Julia Hart on Andrade's back while he was climbing the ladder was great and the final spots was great, too. 8/10 - 4*/5*"
[9.0] "A great ladder match. There were a number of big, brutal spots throughout that were built to nicely with good pace and hard battles. The execution of the spots should also be applauded here as the guys were clean and hit them smoothly. There were also some great extended sequences sprinkled in, like the chain battle they had leading into the spear countered to double arm DDT to the apron hung ladder. The finish was cool and very creative, Julia made a good impact in her involvement in the final minutes and it lead to fun finale. Just a blast of a match and highly recommended."
[10.0] "As a ladder match aficionado, I utterly adored this match. Andrade El Idolo and Buddy Matthews are dynamic in the ring and the heat from the Andrade vs. House of Black feud (one of the most underrated feuds at the moment) makes this match even more intense. Julia Hart's antics during the match were wonderful, especially at the end where Andrade pushed her off a ladder onto Buddy, causing them to plow through a table. The match ends with Andrade ascending the ladder to get his cool mask back. Truly one of the best TV matches in recent memory."
