Torneo Cibernetico Match 2016

[0.0] "One of the most excruciating matches of the year, an endless parade of spots, some clearly meticulously choreographed, that told no story and led to nothing of significance and were numbing to the point you were desperate for the pain and torture to end. It's not like this match didn't have talent in it; for every Tama Tonga or Tanga Roa you had a KUSHIDA or Ultimo Guerrero. But this match was one giant misfire."

[7.0] "Lovely fanfare prior to the action then all 16 go at it. The 16 end up pairing into 8 separate encounters. I can't believe an Exotico is CMLL's #1 champ but give it to Maximo as he is really over. Unsurprisingly the poor man's M Tanaka, Okamura, is the first eliminated. Marco doesn't possess much except for a lovely vertical on his leap. Wow! T Tonga with a high-profile pinfall on the champ. The Rush Driver knocks out Sam Adonis... great arrogant cover. Shocker almost forgets to kick-out of a J Idol top-rope moonsault. Rush works cowardly-great off of Elgin's power. Big Mikey is put-off by the ref's incompetence and shrugs off a cover b/c of. Tanga Roa's finisher is a 1/4 of a Blue Thunder but at least the guy's competent enough to slam Azul down hard. No wonder why Rush was afraid to face-off w/ Elgin - kryptonite. Only a long-ertime star like U Guerrero would have the spirit to knock Big Mike out. After Tama gets his second surprise pinfall, this over La Mascara, it's down to the GoD vs. Volador Jr & U Guerrero. It doesn't make Volador look strong to have Tonga R kick out of Volador's splash at 1, but have UG pin him right afterwards. Tama - 3 pinfalls! OMG! Tama kicks out of the top-rope hurracarana (too much of an eye on the ref's hand, ) but not the Spanish Fly. As Glover wrote, it's pretty conventional/straight-edge storytelling w/out anything too dynamic nor surprising."

[7.0] "Quite a fun match, but a very long one and a very segmented one. Wrestlers came in and out of the ring constantly, putting on a sequence only for the next one to be set up. Each sequence was good, but the only connective tissue was the Mexico vs The World story and the feud between La Mascara and Rush, although both of those were good. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing particularly good ***1/2"

[8.0] "The CMLL Grand Prix's marquee match up did not dissapoint. Unlike a lot of ciberniticos where there are rapid fire eliminations, and a whole bunch of flippy movez, this went for around 50 minutes. While not as good as the Cavernario vs Cometa match right before it, this told a great story of cmll needing to unite and the crowd enchanced that feeling. I reccomend it."
