[8.0] "Starting a PPV with a singles match between Rob van Dam versus Chris Jericho was a good idea. Two of the best wrestlers of tbe roster, and the match really represented that. Maybe this match should have been the final of the king of ring 2002, because i didn't heard good things about the other semifinal and for the final of this Tournament."

[6.0] "About the first half is pretty pedestrian, but they REALLY build drama well as it goes on. The escalation of their moves, the ref's count, and their desperation to win really comes across strongly and pulls you into the match. Jericho uses the remnant of the clout he had from being undisputed champion to make RVD look fantastic. Unfortunately, this all ended up being a waste to feed to a far-too green and unready Lesnar. Very close to a 7 point match, but the basic first half brings it just shy. May come back and revisit another time, though."

[7.0] "A really good match with a fantastic pace. RVD was over as hell and his moveset was exciting as always, but Jericho made sure that they didn't go too fast. Y2J was great as a heel and he knew when to slow things down so the crowd doesn't get worn out and it worked. The fans were alive, I was invested in the personalities and it was just fun to watch Rob move around."

[9.0] "The last time we saw Jericho at a PPV he was a bloody pulp in the ring. Now, he was trying to become King of the Ring. The only thing standing in his way were ex ECW and WCW stars and a beast within the next big thing. Jericho and RVD Drew curtain, more cheers for Van Dam. Their match back in Unforgiven '01 I had considered to be the most underrated and one of the best matches from the entire Invasion storyline. A difference between that fight and the fight at KOR is that the former was match that had no rules. So this match definitely stayed inside the ring. Fans were letting Y2J hear Jericho Sucks chants. I just find it hard not to grin while watching these two go at it. The distinguishable styles of both performers enchantingly compliment each other, magic to life and a dream match destined to happen."

[8.0] "Pretty good opening match as Jericho and RVD wrestle a solid opener and some of the cheating spots from Jericho was fun to watch. RVD was the obvious winner being the only fan favourite in the tournament, but they still worked hard. The post match attack protected RVD in his inevitable defeat in the final."
