Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

[8.0] "I'm surprised this match doesnt have more reviews and it's not rated a little higher. The stakes at the time for this match with Codys career being on the line and the crowd was so hot for this match. Younger me hated the authority so when Cody lost this match I was so mad. The stuff Cody did with his brother was pretty neat. Too bad it was wasn't sustainable for the long run. But look where we are at now. Stuff like this was worth it in the end. ***3/4"

[9.0] "Re-watching this match 11 years later, I experienced the same emotions. It was a solid TV match in its own right, but the most important part of it was the emotional component. Rhodes' story of desperate struggle was amazing, and before his brother came back, before they defeated The Shield, was this match where Cody lost his career. Such stakes created high heat, the match was very intense, individual moments like other wrestlers watching the match backstage and Rhodes' facial expressions created a special effect."

[9.0] "Surprised this match doesn't have more reviews! I think it was the first time something truly clicked with me in terms of Cody Rhodes. And as someone that can be very high and very low Orton, this was some of his best work. The whole Cody/Goldust storyline in the 2nd half of 2013 was amazing and it's sad how badly it got cut down in 2014. Back on top, Orton's RKO to put this one away was beautiful, as was Cody's post-match promo."

[7.0] "A pretty good TV match, aided with the whole story, that if Cody loses his WWE career is over. Codys comeback at the end has some real energy, and hes able to get in some nice near falls. Cody ends up making a mistake by tweaking his knee after going for a springboard move, and Orton kicks at his leg and then hits a RKO.***1/2"

[7.0] "The beginning of a great little storyline in Orton's WWE title reign. Cody gives in everything but ultimately falls short to save his career. Orton takes all the opportunities he gets to exploit his opponents weaknesses and works as the smarter and experienced competitor."

[6.0] "A solid TV match with an interesting condition, which made me get completely involved in what is happening in the ring. Cody came very close to defeating the champion in the end, but Randy Orton caught Rhodes and quickly turned the game in his favor."

[6.0] "Rhodes' career was on the line but Orton's WWE title wasn't. The match definitely wasn't bad, it was somewhat good. The action in this bout was alright but it wasn't memorable. In the end Orton won with the RKO."
