[10.0] "Match so hype on rewatch that when the finish happened I pumped my fist forward and accidentally smashed/bruised by ring finger into the shelf next to my desk. That's how you know it's fucking real graps. *****"
[10.0] "This is the most masterfully orchestrated symphony of violence I have ever seen in WWE history. Simply put, this is a proper heavyweight banger for the ages! Just three European savages going to war for the Intercontinental crown and doing so on the most illustrious battleground in the world of professional wrestling. Talking about the Intercontinental crown, Gunther's legendarily tyrannic reign made that title feel as prestigious as it's ever been, and him defending the title against two former world champions only makes it feel that much more prestigious, especially on such a magnificent stage. With that in mind, them blessing us with the greatest match ever disputed for the title is utter perfection. It's an epic 16-minute war with all three beating the crap out of each other, and it's an absolute blast! It's remarkably straightforward and to the point, tremendously intense, about as hard-hitting as it gets, the chopfest is bewildering, the crowd is in awe in front of such savagery, there's a bunch of breathtaking nearfalls, the emphatic finish is amazing, and Gunther getting the big time WrestleMania win is only right and oh so rewarding. On a side note, why would you put Titus O'Neil as special guest commentator for this? Anyway, this is the defining match of the greatest Intercontinental reign of all time. 296 days as king, 370 more days to go. Massive props to Drew and Sheamus for the herculean effort and for being such perfect dancing partners, but Gunther is the man, and this is one of my favorite matches ever! ****3/4+"
[10.0] "One of the greatest Mania matches ever. Takes full advantage of the triple threat stipulation, with the narrative being two ex friends fighting over who gets to slay the beast while the beast is in the ring with them. So many great moments of hard hitting action, Sheamus and Drew battling before being blindsided by devastating chops. Even Titus O'Neal on commentary couldn't dull the impact of this match as hard as he tried."
[10.0] "Forgot how great this match was. Easily the best match WWE produced in 2023, and arguably even this decade next to Cody vs Roman II, and Drew vs Punk III. Got a lot out of this in the span of 16 minutes. Sheer brutality from all three competitors, where there was not a single moment wasted. Equivocal offense on all fronts to boost with everyone being over with the crowd. Couldn't have had more fun with a rewatch. *****"
[10.0] "Absolute BANGER! Everything about this was perfect. From the venue to the stage, to Gunther's epic entrance to the ring, and of course the march itself. Three heavyweights beating the hell out of each other, Gunther giving us Clash at the Castle flashbacks with the beating he put on Sheamus. Drew and Sheamus having a mini one on one banger mid match. There isn't a single dull moment in this match. It's 20 minutes of nonstop action and it's GOOD! This right here is one of my all time favourite matches. Hats off to these men for their incredible performance that night in Los Angeles, SoFi Stadium. *****"
"[9.0] my god. this match is so worthy of every bit of praise it gets. the way gunther going top rope is used like chekhovs gun is genuinely crazy when he finally comes through after a like 5 minute long disappearing act"
"One of the best slugfests in recent WWE history. Gunther proves why he is one of the best wrestlers in the company. Sheamus shows us that he has only gotten better over time. Drew McIntyre continues to impress, showing why he's arguably the best talent to leave the company and the come back. Overall, fantastic match that rightfully put Gunther over as a monster."
[9.0] "Just an absolute slugfest for 15 minutes. Carrying over their war in the Rumble, these three did not disappoint. Chop after chop after chop. My only complaint was that Gunther wasn't really involved down the stretch and just came in out of nowhere to steal it. Still a phenomenal match. (9.5/10)"
[10.0] "This might actually be the greatest triple threat in the history of triple threats, only one I can possibly put ahead is styles/joe/daniels. You just felt the intensity & physicality from all three that they wanted that IC title badly. By far best match of 2023"
[9.0] "Would've been a 10 from me if Gunther didn't disappear for so long at the end, but nonetheless still an amazing match, what I would've expected from these 3, a hard hitting match."
[10.0] "An absolute war from bell to bell. Three heavy hitters delivering non-stop brutality, crisp timing, and perfectly paced chaos. Every strike landed with sickening impact, the crowd was electric, and all three men looked like absolute beasts. This is how you do a triple threat pure, unfiltered violence and energy."
[10.0] "I can't believe this was only 16 and a half minutes. Not that it dragged but because so much happened. There were so many great moments. This match was so well paced, incredibly hard hitting, brilliantly crafted and produced. I could watch this match over and over. One of the greatest triple threats of all time. I could ramble on about this match, but I think what I wrote should be sufficient. If you haven't seen it yet, drop whatever you're doing and watch it."
[10.0] "I'm my humble opinion the greatest triple threat match of all time. Go argue with the wall. No one bled. No weapons used. Still they were able to make this one of the most brutal matches I've seen. Right winner."
"Manliest of the men, MEAT FOR MEAT. One of the greatest triple threats I have ever seen. Sheamus should've won for that feels good mania moment but not big of a deal since gunther had a legendary reign"
[9.0] "Holy hell, my chest hurts just watching this. This match makes me think that WWE should consider doing a "Forbidden Door" style ppv with NJPW, just imagine the matches we could get. Sheamus proves himself once again as one of the most underrated talents of this generation. Drew is amazing as always. My only gripe is Gunther kinda feels sidelined a little bit, but the match still came out amazing. Low-key misses this period in time where the Intercontinental belt was treated like it's a de facto 3rd world title belt. Almost forgot, might be one of the best commentary work of WWE. The three of them (Cole, Corey Graves, Titus) perfectly sells this match, acting disgusted and wincing at every chops and kicks. What a great match."
[10.0] "Best 'strong style' match in Mania history. Commentators were actually laughing at how insanely violent it was, then gave a standing ovation because peak deserves that kind of response. Gunther beating two men by powerbombing one of them onto the other will live rent-free in my mind for a long time."
[10.0] "This is the greatest WWE Intercontinental title match of all time. which feels kind of boring to say, but I mean, this action is so fuckin' stiff it's unbelievable. Everyone here does a bang-up job in probably their respective best match of all time. That's not even taking in account of Titus O'Neil's incredible drunk commentary. This is a match you watch with your buds over a discord call to lose your shit over. Five Stars out of Five."
[10.0] "This is one of the best triple threats I've ever seen. Prime example of "big meaty men slapping meat." I also love how hyped the commentators are throughout the match. *****"
"10 Three future Hall of Famers just battering the holy hell out of one another, I don't think anyone expected the match to be as perfect as what it was. Gunther is the best thing in WWE right now."
[10.0] "*Insert Kurt Angle screaming "YEAH" gif* This is wrestling. Three absolutely titanic performances from the best heavy hitters of all time. You could run this shit back every Wrestlemania and I would cheer every time. A testament to this match is how Titus goes from vaguely interested to shouting wildly by the end of the match. Also never really hear Michael Cole get so excited."
[10.0] "European strong style in its purest form. These three beat the living shit out of each other and may have stolen not just this show, but the entire weekend. One of the best three way dances ever."
[10.0] "The best triple threat match in the companys history. And the best match at mania. Man this mania was so special. Ic triple threat, Rhea Charlotte, steenrico usos, Cody Roman, dom Rey, Seth Logan. A mix of some all timer matches and bangers all in one. I love this match so much. Wm 39 was truly special. *****"
[9.0] "Was there any doubt to bank on this match to be the best of the entire show combined. Answer is a resounding No. The only complain was Titus man. Dude ruined an amazing match. I get bringing him back to night 2 but could've put him in the Brock Omos match instead. Anything new there is a 50/50 chance of it not working the second time around and this was such a case. What could have been 10/10 rating, thanks to Titus is a 9/10. Alright, enough with Titus rant, back to three guys beating the s out of each other, literally. There were instances when this was legit. Such chemistry between the three and it showed. I love that Sheamus life long chase from this match on is to win the IC title and that honestly WWE should stretch it as long as they want. What a match."
[9.0] "I think the most impressive thing about this is that despite thoroughly fitting into the "triple threat match composed of different segments of 1v1 bouts" cliche, this is a rare and momentous match that has zero drag time. Straight to the conclusion, undeniably engaging with everybody buying in to the hypnosis of men beating the hell out of each other"
[10.0] "This was what the world title division should look like, an absolutely amazing triple threat match. Gunther had an amazing Intercontinental championship reign and both McIntyre and Sheamus are incredible wrestlers and I really feel like they should be pushed in the world title division more than they are. Overall an amazing bout with amazing in-ring work and just a really fun match on a pretty weak card."
[9.0] "[4.5*] This right here was almost a 5-Star Classic. One of the greatest triple threat matches of all time. Just 3 very very talented big men doing their stuff wonderfully. Gunther is, in my opinion, the best Intercontinental Champion ever, and these matches are adding a lot to his curriculum."
[10.0] "Coming back to this review after several rewatches, this is genuinely one of my favorite matches ever. My favorite Triple Threat besides the AJ/Daniels/Joe classic from 2005. Like this is genuinely so good. All 3 men's hard hitting styles meshed so well in this match, and they didn't let there be any dull moment. The additional story arc of Drew & Sheamus also added to the drama portion and made this even better. Just an all-round amazing match. Truly belongs in the upper echelon of matches, especially for the Interncontinental Championship. Gunther taking advantage of Drew and Sheamus absolutely beating the piss out of each other in the final stretch was masterful and the perfect way to end the match too. The crowd was hot, the commentary team was having a damn blast as was the live audience and those at home. This is the kind of match you show to people when you want to introduce them to professional wrestling. Unfortunately, WWE hasn't allowed Gunther to really have a match of this caliber on the main roster since this match, but this was truly his peak on the main roster. Absolutely spectacular, and a WrestleMania classic. *****."
[10.0] "This is single handedly one of the greatest triple threat matches in WWE history. I loved every single minute of this match, another banger added to Gunther, Sheamus, and Drew McIntyre's collection. This is also one of the best Intercontinental Championship matches of all time as well."
[10.0] "Three great wrestlers who complement each other in the ring, how do you think they will match and what will happen to their match? That sentence alone was enough to describe this match."
[10.0] "Gunther is the best wrestler in WWE. Holy fuck this was incredible. All three men did excellent in this. They just beat the piss out of each other for 20 minutes. What more could you want in a wrestling match? To me, I think I prefer this match over the tag match from night 1. Either way, they're both great. Back to this one though. I thought that this was yet another easy 5 star rating. Nothing is wrong with it. Literally nothing. Some might not like how Gunther is not involved for an extended period of time. I don't mind it. There's two reasons for that. It makes sense for Gunther to chill on the outside and wait for the perfect opening to capitalize and win with ease. Also, it basically gave us a one-on-one match between Sheamus and Drew which was fucking awesome. I genuinely think that if you put them two in a match at WrestleMania, it could be a MOTY. The stuff they did was incredible. They had the crowd in the palm of their hand. There were so many brilliant near falls in this portion. They proved that they didn't need Gunther to have the match of a lifetime. However, the best spot of the match does involve all three men. Not too far into the match, Sheamus and Drew are just beating the shit out of Gunther. Hell, Drew even had a sequence with Gunther where they traded chops. These chops were some of the loudest I've ever heard. No joke, they sounded like when you crack a whip. Anyways, I'm gonna shut up now. 10/10 [*****]"
[10.0] "The greatest triple-threat of all time! A defining match in Gunther's historic reign with one of the hottest atmospheres for a match all year. The story was really good too with Drew inserting him into Sheamus's dream of winning the IC title. These 3 dudes beat the shit out of each other and got a well-deserved standing ovation for the match."
[10.0] "This might be a contender for my favorite match of all time. Absolute chopfest from 3 men beating each other up on the grandest stage of them all. I like how Sheamus and Drew are able to be friends and hate each other At the same time. I feel like all 3 men played a huge part in this match and the crowd was very into it. Outstanding wrestling match."
[9.0] "Loved it, but missed some part because my friend stupid dog was eating something that should not be eaten and it took a while to make him spit it out, I need to rewatch it, without interruption this time."
[8.0] "This is a really nice hoss fight with all three competitors willing to take lots of punishment. I think an ideal three way match has fewer kick outs and more pin attempt break ups by the third party than this match had."
[9.0] "Three large angry men go to war. Modern WWE at it's in-ring best: heavy action, white hot crowd, great near-falls, emotive character work. Two things hold it back from being a 10 for me. The first is Titus on commentary, who I found occasionally funny but more often obnoxious. The second is the problem that all triple threats have, which is the non-stop action that makes the good ones gripping are difficult to maintain into a longer match. WWE's answer here is just to keep the match at a sleek sixteen and a half minutes, and I think true greatness requires keeping the intensity going for a bit longer. Still, an excellent match."
[10.0] "Absolute beef fest, GUNTHER just being amazing. Sheamus proving why he's always been great. Drew just being a hairy Hercules taking so much punishment. 10/10"
[10.0] "all out meat slapping meat. love it. gunther omg ur aura i love you my king my champ my pookie bear. shamus and drews meat slapping was so yummy"
[10.0] "Hard hitting triple threat match. Just three heavyweights beating the crap out of each other. The commentary on this match was GOLD. There were a bunch of strikes from all three guys. The part when Sheamus hit a white noise from the middle rope and celtic cross on Gunther. Sheamus goes for the pin, and Drew pulls out Sheamus just in time, and the look on Sheamus' face tells everything. Sheamus and Drew kick out on their finishers on each other, and Sheamus gets a one on Gunther, but he kicks out. Sheamus and Drew continue fighting until Gunther comes out of nowhere from the top rope and hits a powerbomb and both guys. This was incredible. The standing ovation from the crowd was well deserved."
[10.0] "[*****] MOTY 2023. One of the greatest Wrestlemania matches of all time. Every chop, every beat, every punch, literally every single interaction got the crowd to roar. Sheamus hitting 29(1/2) beats on Drew, Gunther FROG SPLASHING ON BOTH OF THEM, and Gunther POWERBOMBING Drew on Shemus. This match was the shit."
[9.0] "Incredible match between three monsters, this match ruled. This was by far the best match of the sunday. Very brutal and stiff, and the atmosphere was simply amazing. Very nervous match with crazy moments and nearfalls, a WrestleMania classic - {****1/4}"
[10.0] "A match to show to non-wrestling fans when they're wondering if wrestling "is for real". The three men are among the most impressive of wrestlers, as powerful in character as they are in-ring, and as accurate and precise as they are powerful. Every blow is straight to the point, we ache for them at every moment and are impressed every second. What a Dream Matcha formida worthy of the world's biggest stage."
[8.0] "This match still rules. Guys hitting eachother hard always will. Some of the chops in this match are still so stiff and then there's everything else like the lariats and the genuinely great looking punches from Sheamus and Drew which are equally so. Titus O'Neil is also on commentary for this match and it's so funny because he absolutely sucks at it but you can tell he's having the time of his life whilst watching this. And who can blame him tbf, this is some genuinely great shit and arguably the best match from all of Mania 39. ****"
