The match is definitely good and well executed but character fatigue sinks it for me. 10 years into the "women's revolution" and 3 of the 4 are basically in the same position they were when it all started. At some point you need fresh faces in there. |

Mercedes Bianca, Becky Bianca, Rhea Charlotte/Bianca Asuka, Bayley Iyo/Rhea Becky, and Iyo Rhea Bianca. Thats a pretty good hit rate tbh. The difference in this one especially in the early portions of the match where Rhea was in control is how much more confident she is. She knows that Charlotte has beaten for her a women's title on two separate occasions so if that wasn't the case, Charlotte would use that against her to her advantage. The trash talk, her aggressiveness, how deliberate she was moving, playing up the crowd. Again, the little things. and as Charlotte makes her comebacks with matching her physicality with those hard ass chops. Then she starts getting in her bag, counter offence, targeting Rhea's leg to set up for the figure 8. Now we are in the makings of an epic. This goes back and forth now with Rhea and Charlotte both responding by hitting each other with big moves. You see the desperation as the match gets deeper until the finish. The emotion on each others faces after every near fall. When Charlotte locked in the figure 8 for a quick second, Rhea was able to get the ropes quickly because she knows and remembers how deadly that move is since she lost because of that move before. Great ring awareness btw. Now Charlotte looks to go in for the kill. While it looks like she has Rhea right where she wants her, Rhea reverses the super exploder attempt by smashing Charlotte's face into the turnbuckle before hitting a super riptide, screaming in her face in the process that it's her time. 1-2-3. Rhea finally beats Charlotte. Even in defeat Charlotte can't help but smile cause she knows her and Rhea tore the house down. One of the best women's matches on American soil. A star making performance from Rhea Ripley and another defining performance in the many hits of Charlotte's career. This was a classic. ****3/4 |

Part of the issue is the psychology is fucked from the off as Charlotte is supposed to be the babyface, and yet Rgha is clearly the babyface in the narrative they have told, and in terms of who most of these people want to see win, so the match they started working doesn't make any sense. There is no heat. It is highlighted early on by Charlotte's selling of Rhea's blows which she admittedly (double admittedly given it's usually one of her key weaknesses) does well, and by the two of them throwing each other face first into the turnbuckle. Alas, as soon as Charlotte takes over on offense and comes out with her W.O.A.T chops, it descends into the typical until we get Charlotte deciding to take the standing German suplex on her face. It is tough to know what was going on there, but it creates the one genuinely unique moment in the match, and the one thing in it that could genuinely earn it the label of 'stiff'. After that it is just finisher kickouts and your typical Mania championship match. |

Story telling wise, the in ring story telling was phenomenal and made up for a lackluster build. This match is a fantastic continuation to the long term story that Charlotte and Rhea are telling. The moment Rhea Ripley became a wwe legend in one of the best womens matches wwe has ever produced. |
