Cole and Garcia played it too safe to be an hour 2 main event caliber match, and Cole showed just a bit of ring rust in some places. I'll look forward to the match with Jericho because it's a good way to get Cole back into the main event scene in a safe manner. I just hope this doesn't turn into another 10+ month long Jericho feud. |

But no, Cole is not putting any effort or creativity into his matches anymore. They started with basic technical exchanges in which Cole looked a step or two slower than Garcia. Garcia hits a piledriver on Cole as the break spot, clearly referencing Cole's concussion, but he didn't continue working on the head or neck like you would've expected him to. They just carried on with having a standard back and forth. Cole throws his usual arsenal of superkicks, Garcia's hammer and anvils looked especially bad. Garcia gets lost and taunts the crowd for an extended period of time. Honestly, Garcia acting gimmicky is more suited for him than the 'legit shooter' shtick that he's not good at. Garcia hit another piledriver and Cole brushes it off to spam more superkicks, a destroyer, and the knee. It's just pure laziness from Cole as he spams the same moves in every match, in the same order with weak impact. Garcia actually showed more personality than Cole here. I don't know, I just don't understand the hype. So overall a basic formula with a predictable winner and two unspectacular performances. *1/2 |
