I didn't even like the ending, it felt like it just ended imo. Really liked the first two matches of the night so far but this one was a bit shit. **."

They got Brody in there and made him the focus of the match really. He looked like the unstoppable monster that hes shown potential to be here. Elite tactics usually consist of controlled chaos (dives, superkicks and timed sequences) but heres the kicker. House of Black THRIVE in controlled chaos with nastier and more violent offense. Elite get more than enough in but each sequence ends with HOB regaining control and the writing is on the wall for the Elite. A SUPERB Buddy knee countering Matts moonsault sets up Dantes Inferno to end the Elites title reign. The House of Black have NEVER looked better and the Elite clearly wanted to get them to that level. Superb stuff. AND NEW. ****1/2"
[9.0] "This was absolutely EPIC! An all-time trios match that showed what makes these teams special. I do not think I have ever seen a unit better at telling a coherent and cohesive story at a blistering piece than The Elite. And I encourage anyone who thinks this was anything short of dense with story to go back and revisit this one. The interaction between Kenny Omega and Buddy Matthews set the stage for a special encounter, with Excalibur rightfully referencing their years-long stylistic comparisons. Omega facing off with Malakai Black then took things to an entirely different level. Dream matchups that we got to see on a massive show with titles that were undoubtedly elevated by this encounter. As the story progressed, the battle of the knee strikes between Black and Omega, the long game to wear down Brody King, and the patience of the House of Black to exploit openings were all captivating. From big spots to minor moments, such as Black trying to avoid the V-Trigger, but running out of space because he was so close to the turnbuckle, this one had it all. An absolute classic and probably my favorite Six-Man Tag Team Match since The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family. 4.75 stars, 9.5 out of 10. I may end up going up to the full five with another rewatch."

Focused mostly on Brody and Kenny but Malaki had his moments. The Bucks are so good at damage control, countering their opposition, and going from zero to 100 with momentum swings. Really loved the interactions between Kenny and Malaki black, would love for them to have a singles match at some point."

[9.0] "Two amazing units going to battle for the crown of best trio in AEW. It lived up to the hype and had the winner in question all the way through. Omega's work with Brody was perfect 10 stuff but the meltzer driver and Julia stuff took me out of the action enough to go down to 9 or ****³/"
[9.0] "An excellent match as expected from two talented trios. As with most Elite matches, it was filled with some spectacular looking spots and tandem team action. The match was fast paced, the action non stop and almost seamless. Detractors of the Elite will call it nothing but a spotfest and overlooked the drama, the chemistry between all six men. Personally, I love Elite matches because it is a great show of athletics and although their matches are filled with spots, I don't feel that they do it for the sake of doing it. Both the Elite and the House of Black really showcased their craft here, everybody got a chance to shine. Commentary also did a great job of setting up how difficult it is to prepare for a group as diverse as the House of Black and how different they were from the Elite's main rivals- Death Triangle. Crowd was great as always. ****3/4"
[7.0] "It's not even possible to recap the rest of the action because they packed so much into this bout. We saw a bit of everything from everybody, and thankfully, just about every spot looked good or great. The number of timing issues and botches was very low. I can't really stand the Bucks (and even, to a lesser extent, Omega) as babyfaces, but that disdain kind of enhanced the match because the high-level storyline of the match was largely the House of Black kicking their faces in. The details when you zoom in further get messy as always - the Julia Hart interference sucked and the Elite were as predictable as ever - but it felt like the match was structured to get the House of Black over as being too vicious to be trifled with and that mission was largely accomplished. I don't know that the HoB has gotten that kind of reaction at any point in AEW up to this point and, if they are looking to actually keep this trios title going (meh), AEW desperately needs them to be in the mix."

I wouldn't mind a longer feud but if Kenny goes back to singles and the Bucks return to tag action, I'm not going to complain."

Every member of their match served their role perfectly - Brody King in particular utilized his side advantage and was made to look like a threatening monster in this match. The early showdowns of Omega/Buddy and Omega/Black were exciting and the match unfolded into a chaotic bout with some great near falls and great crowd investment. The V-Trigger on Julia Hart was sold very well. I do feel like The Young Bucks did weigh down this match, it was much more exciting whenever Black/Buddy/Brody/Omega were in the ring, but the ending made up for it. Buddy's knee on one of the Bucks was absolutely brutal."

The opening made me want to see Kenny vs. any of the three real bad, but most of all Malakai and Buddy. A Bucks vs. Kings of the Black Throne match would be great as well. A highlight was Julia Hart getting a V-Trigger and Kenny shrugging it off like it ain't a big deal. ****1/2"

A lot of cool moments like the crowd going really wild for the Malakai vs Omega interactions and the spots of Mathews and Brody King were just perfect. I really liked that it looked like they focused in making Brody feel like a big threat and they really succeded imo. I really want to see more interactions between this men but at the same time I want to see the Bucks go back to the tag team division and Omega go and do a singles run but who knows maybe we can see more matches in the near future."

Very refreshing to see the Elite against the HOB, their chemistry was fantastic and offered some variation and surprise to some of the Elite spots that could've been predictable but ended in fun subversions instead (Brodie flinging Nick to the floor when Nick is rope walking, for instance). Match started with some fanservice, showing Kenny against first Buddy and then Black, and some clean chain wrestling. Laughed at Matt asking for Brody and then trying to nope back out. Bucks having to double team the big man was fun and believable. Tension goes off the charts in the last five minutes. Stiff strikes, crisp knees. Nick legit looked like he'd been killed by the knee from Buddy. Wonderful selling all around. A string of fantastic false finishes, and IMO the correct ending with HOB taking the gold. Both teams looked great, HOB looked like killers."

The Elite's previous defenses have been kind of the same, facing other very athletic teams, so having the House of Black and their more grounded, strike and grapple heavy game being thrown into the mix was great. There were some amazing spots during this and everybody got at least one great moment to shine. This match is also what really sold me on Brody King. Great physicality, great flippy stuff, and great physical storytelling. My favorite match of the night."

A good finish with the right winners does very little to save what is ultimately just another middling performance from The Elite to cap off a lackluster title reign."

There was just way too much going on that the action lost all meaning. Not a shred of story to go on here. You could tell everyone was trying their best, and it was performed well. But it's hard to deny that the blueprint for the match was a mistake. The rules of this trios match were way too loose, and there was no psychology to any of this."
[4.0] "As long as the Bucks get their sh*t in (the same sh*t they do every match) they are happy. glad to see them possibly not wrestling every week going forward. knox continues to be unbearable as a referee, bucks matches continue to not observe any actual rules after the 2 minute mark, and selling is completely lost as well instead going for the "we can wait at ring side until our cue to be ok again and get back in to the melee". These matches are hard to watch after you have seen the same bad free for all 6 man so many times in a row. First half was miles better than the latter half but that isn't saying much here. they did a "hot" tag even at one point where they didnt even put any emotion or excitement into it. people like to compare them and say modern rockers or r&r express but honestly they'd need to admit that matches have rules and that the "tag" in tag team is the most important piece. *3/4"
"(10/10) While the story build to this match was lacking heavily the actual in-ring action was perfect, and the crowd's investment into the one on one match-ups presented in this match made it that much better. The near fall sequences were top-notch, and the usual chaotic ring clearing series in AEW trio's matches were played about terrifically, with momentum shifting to either side at the drop of a hat (or a superkick to be exact) Kenny and Malaki had some amazing striking sequences, Brody King played the nearly unstoppable monster perfectly, Nick and Matt Jacksons tandem offense were perfect (as it typically is). Buddy Matthews was probably the best he's ever been in AEW during this match. Personally, I think watching it not knowing the result (or trying to keep that out of your mind when watching) elevates the viewing experience as the near falls were spectacular."

New champions were crowned, a surprise for sure. Good match overall. ***1/2"
[9.0] "The spots the Young Bucks are known for were way smoother when we take into account transitioning from move to move. We got the long awaited Kenny Omega vs Buddy Murphy fight we've been begging for and this match leaves us yearning for more singles action between the individuals in both teams. Though the build up to this feud wasn't long, the match in itself and the pure athleticism on display made up for it. I enjoyed seeing Brody King looking like a powerhouse - along with Malakai Black's finisher looking as devasting as ever. Putting rumors aside, neither team came out of this match looking weaker or buried, if anything both teams came out stronger with the fans. I believe the right team won this match and hopefully we'll see some great story telling with whatever the House of Black has in store for us in the future. As for the Elite, the future remains unknown, but similar to the House of Black, fans will be eager to see what they have in store for us next."

[5.0] "This wasn't so bad; I usually don't watch these matches. They did a decent job shining the hob especially brody king, who honestly is kinda hard to make look good a lot of the time. Malakai and Kenny had some good sequences but they were both too fast and looked rehearsed. I wouldn't mind a match between the two. Nothing else particularly memorable other than the ridiculous, rehearsed-looking duo and trio spots. If you like this crap then you'll like this match."
[8.0] "I don't envy Tony at all when it comes to how to book this division because there was basically no clean way to book this. I think they made the right choice having House of Black go over (though I honestly wish it had been even more decisive, that would have been rocket fuel for their return push) as I can't imagine them really finding anything interesting to do in 3 more months of The Elite having the belt after the entire history of the division has already revolved around them, but it's undeniably awkward. Thankfully, it doesn't bring down this match too much, as all the action leading up to that finish is great. House of Black look fantastic, they're a well-oiled machine where every member feels purposeful and dangerous and they act as a great foil to the chaotic energy of The Elite's spot-based antics. This is meat and potatoes trios action executed at a high level and I really enjoyed watching it."
[8.0] "I think it was a good match just a very average young bucks and omega tag match it was nothing special but it wasn't bad and entertaining I think it could have been a little better but it was still solid. ****"
[8.0] "Kenny's brief wrestling exchanges with Buddy, and Malaki were great even though it was brief. Brody King got to look like a monster all throughout the match which was great. The majority of the match is what you'd expect from the Elite with it being chaotic the whole way and a spotfest. The closing moments of the half were really egregious with just ignoring the rules with how wrestlers would just run in to break up pins without getting punished, and also said run-ins got old quickly. Anyways Buddy's kick at the end was great, and it was nice to see the HOB win this match.****1/4"

[8.0] "This was a great 3v3 match! Kenny Omega was totally inspired in this one, he was got the spotlight here alongside Malakai Black. Both teams were pretty good and managed to have me excited all the time, and seeing Kenny and Malakai exchanging Knee Strikes was very cool, especially when both of them fell onto each other. Yeah, this truly wasn't just flips and Superkicks, it had brutality, amazing sequences and jaw dropping counters, like Buddy Matthews' Knee Strike countering the Meltzer Driver. ****1/4"
[9.0] "PWG-ism>>> The Elite or Tony Khan said leave the lore stuff at home, just come out here and hoop. Malakai and Brody remembered that they are some of the best in-ring wrestlers in the world and both looked like absolute killers. Kenny V-Triggering Julia, then laughing it off was an instant highlight and Buddy hitting that knee made me yell. Fantastic trios match."

The Elite's most interesting threat by far, a lot more emphasis on strikes and grappling in this rather than the frenetic, spot oriented nature of these trios matches usually. Not that I don't enjoy the chaotic nature of trios matches, they offer something really fun, however I really loved how this one was paced in comparison. HOB looked badass, The Elite were out of their element, yet gutsy in trying to overcome this beast of a team. Excellent, convincing finish."
[4.0] "Another spotfest, which unfortunately does not stand out when nearly every other match on the card is also a spotfest. This one, though, manages to have traces of coherence/structure, though there were a few too many ring-clearing spots that left me feeling a bit frustrated with the match's pace."
[10.0] "This match was INCREDIBLE even by The Elite's standards. A hard-hitting back and forth trios match where the correct team won. The House of Black has been running in circles for over a year now so this puts them headed in the right direction."
[10.0] "This match was so good this felt like the Elite had to turn it up a notch which is always gonna rule. Such a great match and happy with House of Black winning. I loved the sequence of Kenny hitting Julia followed by his sell of Malakais leg kick."

[8.0] "This was really good and 90% of it was House of Black getting to finally show how great they can be. Elite really need to end as a team though. Their whole offense is reliant on making your opponents look like idiots. Great win for HOB finally."
[4.0] "Nope. This one did not do it for me. And I will fully admit I am biased. I cannot stand Kenny Omega or the Young Bucks. They are corny to watch and brutal in the ring. Flip flop, no sell garbage is not wrestling. I don't care how many dives you can do to the outside or how many "super-indy" moves you have in your repertoire, that does not make you a good pro wrestler. Trios matches always dissolve into nonsense but this was overly bad. I do give points to all the House of Black members who I love to watch work. I am very happy with the title change and hopefully the Trios Title is now booked way more seriously. But how? Are there many actual Trios teams to fight for these belts? It seems that the Bucks and Omega convinced Tony Khan to make a title specifically for them. AEW suffers in the booking department often and they need to find a way to make these belts matter because three VERY talented wrestlers hold the straps now."
[8.0] "You know what you're getting when you see this line-up on paper, and it ended up ruling a lot. The House of Black got a proper spotlight here, and each one of 'em put in some real good performances showcasing their signature arsenals. The Elite were Elite; Kenny was the overall MVP of the thing and The Bucks had many of the best spots of the entire match."
[9.0] "Very fun match and really re-heated House of Black back up. Not sure the trios titles are ever going to amount to much but at the very least they make for excellent filler for top talent with nothing to do."

However with a different style that I've personally seen the Elite face off with the House of Black.Big fight instead of, albeit awesome, flips we're used to with death triangle or most other teams we've seen the elite face."

[8.0] "Managed to straddle the line between PWG trios spotfest and PPV title match well. House of Black were all business here, and Brody King had an excellent performance in particular. Kenny had really good chemistry with the whole of the team, especially Black, while the Bucks had decent underdog sequences against Brody & Buddy. This kept a good pace, although the setup for Julia getting hit was a little too obvious (loved Kenny selling like he didn't really care even if it wasn't intentional though). A solid if drawn out sequence of near falls before the finish. Really enjoyable if a little overrated. ****"
[6.0] "A typical spot-fest, which was written as if according to a training manual. But a spot fest without a good story is like fast food. Which, although it can bring pleasant sensations at the time of viewing, but the memory of it disappears as quickly as possible. And the history of this match is really sharp. Most of the Young Bucks matches in recent years, unfortunately, are just that. The House of Blacks look interesting visually, but as characters they are completely one-dimensional. It might work in the indie scene, but it's boring on TV shows because they just lack depth. Maybe after they win the title, the situation will change? ***1/4"

The elite losing the match probably means that Omega is out the door. Brody king wins the worker of the match award."

The winners were on point and set the stage for more interesting rivalries and matches in the future... I hope Julia Hart can have matches on Dynamite/Rampage soon. This faction can be dominant, and this huge win it's just the beginning, and a testament. 9/10."

[9.0] "Can't imagine hating the AEW Trios Championship format. This was another perfect example of six competitors, at least three of whom aren't used often, smashing it out of the park. Action was crispy, and had to give a full extra point for the Buddy Matthews knee."
[6.0] "I loved the beginning of this match. Kenny and Malakai are incredible together in the ring. I'm not a massive fan of Elite matches, you either love them or hate them. The match surpassed my expectations, though. I enjoyed it."
[6.0] "I really can't enjoy the Elite matches unfortunately. I like storytelling, I want to have some sort of story behind a match and everything the story of this two teams told us was written of the match itself. It's a classic spot fest that doesn't put anyone on the top. I don't like the Bucks' match style and I think that Kenny Omega, in matches like this, is really underutilized. Malakai Black has finally won a major title and I hope this win will give us some good stories. It was only me or Buddy Matthews did only 2 or 3 moves in the entire match?"
[9.0] "I absolutely love Brody King. He was the MVP in this match for sure. I'm glad House of Black won, they're my favorite trio in AEW and maybe now I'll be invested in the trios title and the Elite can go do other things. ****1/4"
[9.0] "This match really delivered to the hype. Obviously these trios matches aren't to everyone's taste but this is a really good example of the style."
[8.0] "As expected, the Elite handled the highlight and spot wrestling portion of the show and as usual, they handled it exceptionally well with (finally! ) some new opponents and new dynamics after having seen them primarily against similarly spot wrestlers since their return. The House of Black is intimidating, fresh and full of talent and potential, so I loved the ending. Now maybe have one rematch and then free the Bucks and Omega up for other business."
[7.0] "This was a standard 'good' AEW spotfest -- better than your average Dynamite/Rampage spotfest but nothing outright great. Their various mirror exchanges and standoffs were always too way cheesy for my liking, but we unfortunately got quite a few of them sprinkled in throughout the match. The generic "both teams line up like the Avengers before having a super dorky and fake-looking brawl" spot especially cringe and needs to go away forever. The Bucks did all their usual aerial/agile stunts that barely even look that impressive these days because of (1) their declining athleticism, and (2) how done-to-death those such spots are, since we've see them all in literally every single Bucks AEW match ever since 2019. At times their spots didn't even have very convincing technique, which was also a shame. King was a fun powerhouse monster, though I still find him quite limited outside of that specific role and at times he's a bit too slow/sloppy. As expected, many of the multi-man spots and sequences here were set-up and/or executed in ways that made the guys on the receiving end look pretty stupid because they'd be mindlessly standing around instead of evading or countering, so that definitely detracted from my enjoyment at times despite the end product of those spots/sequences sometimes indeed being quite cool. Black always looked great when allowed to run wild, but he unfortunately had to relinquish time to everyone else instead of getting a proper run in the spotlight to show how great he can be (same was Omega, who is unfortunately relegated to generic multi-man matches with the heavy anchors that are his two trios partners). Black and Omega's 1-on-1 interactions were obviously the best parts of the match, with both getting some great strikes off against each other. An actual singles match between them would easily be great -- at least 10x better than this. Julia's interference spots were always very overly telegraphed and just generally quite annoying. I enjoyed a lot of the big bombs that came out in that final 1/4th, but the constant pin break-ups from both sides (mostly from the Bucks) were really aggravating and it became quite egregious that they could just repeatedly do that without punishment (I know I know, it's the AEW house style and it's kayfabe that the refs are morons, but it's still really annoying). Murphy was someone else who didn't get to show off even a 1/4th what he's capable of, but at least he got to perform that sick knee counter in the finishing stretch. I was glad to see HOB get the win. They more than deserve it after doing absolutely nothing of worth for so long, and I was beyond sick of the Elite having the same match every single week as the champs. It sucks that we still have Omega, Black, and Murphy being wasted in multi-man matches instead of standing out as singles workers, but at least they all looked very good here at moments. ***1/4"
[7.0] "I thought this was all right for the most part. Huge waste of potential with regards to this feud. Dream matches are fun and all but HOB are really the sort of gimmick that need storylines. That being said I thought the in ring action while a bit heatless was still fun, Kenny was the standout for me, he's been going great ever since he returned and has the most memorable moments of the match with Buddy and Malakai."
