[6.0] "Unaired, but a smark got it on fancam with unneeded commentary. Bless David Flair. This is probably his best match and I know that's saying absolutely nothing, but it's true and that's mostly because of Lawler and Cornette carrying the guy hard. Corny cuts a pre-match promo basically doing his usual shtick and stating that he wasn't even supposed to be in this match, but he got shoved in due to contract nonsense, etc etc. He refuses to even touch the stinky Lawler family and hypes up David as the "greatest wrestler of the 21st century" and the guy who's going to do all of the dirty work here. This is a pretty basic match based purely around that shtick as Flair tries to handle the two, fails, and Cornette gets huffy and refuses to tag in. While it is basic shtick, it's actually quite good shtick: David Flair plays a solid young gun heel who's far more cocky than he is competent, leading to a lot of moments where he eats shit off trying to show off. Lawler sells well for his stuff and David in turn bumps great for his generally by the numbers offence. Eventually Cornette eats his bumps as David forcefully tags him in and we get some funny comedy work as Cornette stumbles around to the wrong corner and ends up getting beat up by Lawler and co. He even takes a few suplexes perfectly, which was unexpected. The heels take over when Corny uses salt on eyes, allowing them to gang up on the guy. David's offence is mostly a Orton-tier headlock but Cornette makes it manageable as he throws in cheap shots and even tags in to throw in his own punches before needing help because, well, he's bad at it. David does do a flush piledriver so fair play, however this bit is still by far the weakest section. We get the eventual hot tag to Lawler after Corny misses a elbow drop and he goes wild on the two. He motions for the piledriver on David but gets told off as he isn't actually the legal man. Corny arms the racket and hits David instead, allowing Christopher to land a flush superkick for the win. This was a basic Southern-style house show tag with limited workers in it; the heels mostly bump and cheat to get any advantage while the babyfaces get a hot start before having to claw back for the finish. It's fine enough and I'd say Cornette and Lawler do their best to make this really entertaining. The younger guys are a bit more....iffy, I'd say, Brian Christopher was never a good wrestler and he's certainly not good enough to make David Flair interesting, so the middle half kinda burns out until the hot tag. It's nothing special but a strongly worked match around lots (and I do mean LOTS) of limitations."
