110.12.2025Heartbreakkid20039.0These two just flow and work together so effortlessly great. These two have similar ring styles but are also different enough that it just makes them flow so well. Godly workers godly match 4.5/5

907.08.2025HBKY2J9.0Another Banger from AJ as usual. Amazing Athleticism from Ibushi who was absolutely great in his performance. Easily a top contender for the best AJ Styles match in his NJPW run.

1402.07.2025doobwrld8.0Excellent match from an excellent tournament. I would argue out of everyone Styles frequented in NJPW, Ibushi was his best opponent pound for pound. Similar psychology, resilience, and physicality. The last stretch of this match is a testament to just how far and away these two were the best wrestlers in the world, during 2015 and would continue to be for the next few years. ****1/2

1909.06.2025FelipeTalksGraps9.0[4.25*] What an amazing match, one of my favorites from this AJ NJPW run. It had the classic Nooj structure with the slow beginning that escalates into a crazy ending stretch, but when you look at the names involved you see that it's going to be crazier than usual and that's what happened. I was so surprised with the speed of these two guys. They were doing sequences in 2.0 speed like it was nothing. They did two reversal sequences that ended in the most insane ways possible lmao. I was just impressed. Great bout.

2129.04.2025trexyyy9.0Any Styles match is guaranteed to be a banger, we all know that, and this really did prove that to me. What a match, these two have amazing chemistry and can work a match with ease, some of the moves were really impressive, some very cool counters and incredible selling from both of them. Overall a very impressive match.

2419.03.2025Omarfuyu9.0What a banger, AJ and Ibushi are oozing with technique, both amazing wrestlers. This was a pretty fun match to watch.
2517.03.2025ReiEscobar10.0You can easily argue about this match being the more IMPRESSIVE of AJ Styles during his time in NJPW. Not the best in my opinion, cause this is NOT a five stars for me, but the more IMPRESSIVE. You put two high skilled wrestlers facing each other in a insane match, you can't wait another thing than a BANGER coming from both. NJPW did this with AJ Styles a lot of times, put him with the best they can offer (Tanahashi, Ibushi, Okada) and wait. It's easy to work when you have AJ Styles at your roster, that guy is a utophia.
2615.03.2025Garmonbozia8.0This match was good. I liked the finishing stretch and there was some pretty solid action before that.

3004.02.2025Styles6199.0This was an awesome match. These two had a match at Invasion Attack earlier in the year for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and they showed that they have crazy good chemistry. While not as good as their first match, this follow up was more than worthy. AJ Styles was great here, trying to counter some of Kota Ibushi's moves now that they have wrestled in the ring. At one point, AJ was going for a tombstone piledriver on the apron, but Ibushi countered that into a rana where AJ landed on the floor. Ibushi won the match with the Phoenix Splash, which was the only move that he wasn't able to hit during their first match. ****1/2

3412.12.2024jakeshmay8.0This is a fantastic match, but it feels like it is just missing something to rate it as a 9 or 10. Maybe it should have gone another couple minutes and had one more big spot

4426.09.2024Chefi10.0Absolutely amazing match here. AJ in New Japan was something else and Ibushi is always a treat to watch and these 2 brought the house down. Should've been the main event over Naito/Tana but still a barn burner.

4916.08.2024kaidyark9.0****1/2 Amazing match between these two, playing off their Invasion Attack encounter. AJ walked Ibushi to the big spots in the match which was kinda funny to monitor during the match. Kota Ibushi might be the best facial expression wrestler, up there with John Cena, the expressions he made after kicking out of the Hollow Point and Bloody Sunday were sublime.

5226.07.2024violet0118.0Calling this one a match with all flash and big bombs does not do justice to the great work that these two (AJ Styles) puts in to make each big spot feel worthwhile. AJ works with precision over Ibushi and from the crowd and his approach, it's kinda his match to lose. AJ working over Ibushi never becomes tedious when he has one of the best movesets of all time and Ibushi just needs to do his shtick to make it work and AJ will work around it to make it the best kind of match. As for the work put in to make the big bombs work, early on they do the classic back suplex counter by landing on your feet spot that AJ isn't ready for but later on, Ibushi lands on his feet again and AJ is ready to follow up right away with the Pele Kick. Such a small but meaningful touch to make a spot that would otherwise look fairly choreographed look purposeful and with a calculated risk. The deadlift german from the apron being countered and then countered back into a headscissor on the floor from Ibushi so he can't get the pin fits perfectly when AJ is laying in bomb after bomb and getting nearfalls whereas Ibushi just needs 1 in the ring to win it. AJ counters Ibushi's classic springboard rana off the top but can't counter when he's setting up a top rope powerbomb because he's already got a hold of Ibushi is insane level of commitment to make the spot work. Ibushi wraps it up right after too, no wasted motion and staying true to what this match sets out to do.

5731.05.2024nothingleftinside8.0Furious pace to this one. Stiff kicks are the theme of the day. There is a great apron arm drag thing about 3/4 of the way through, followed up by a great moonsault. Great finishing sequences as well, including some crazy counter with both of them on the top turnbuckle at the very end.

6128.04.2024uselessdollthing4.0I sadly did not enjoy this match as much as I wish I did. Very solid end portion but should have been high paced the whole match, because the rest of the match takes way too long to reach the quality of the last section of this match, which is a shame as I really enjoy watching both of these guys in action.

7826.07.2023Oswuold10.0In the conversation for the most fluid wrestling match ever. I mean: some of the reverseals, sequences and spots were just incredible. And then, it's Ibushi: he needed to risk his life with that Hollow Point but anyway after hundreds of hurricanranas the Golden Star was able to get the win after an incredible Phoenix Splash. It's refreshing to see a 5* Climax match. *****

8012.05.2023flightaker3219.0This was much better than the match they had at Invasion Attack. They worked a 19-minute match so much better than a 30-minute one. There were a bunch of great counters in this, that all looked very smooth, although for a couple of them, you could see Ibushi just waiting for AJ to get to the right spot which is a bit off-putting when watching a match, but I don't think it happened enough for me to bring it down more. Due to these counters, we got some great tension down the stretch, and some truly great near falls before Ibushi won.****1/2
