I remember watching it on the day and loving it for a number of reasons: it showed some new tech for Bray that looked great (the black light tattoos, the Uncle Howdy elbow post match) and it (and the feud it was attached to) helped elevate LA Knight directly to the main event scene. It was also easy, simple fun. That's all it clearly was supposed to be, especially once Mt. Dew rudely interjected itself into what was, at one point in time, one of the hottest rivalries WWE had going on. It's clear to me that WWE audience is typically allergic to anything that goes outside the boundaries of the traditional structure they're conditioned to. It's hardly a perfect match: the commentators constantly no-selling the action and in general being really annoying certainly don't help any, and the action itself is, while never bad, largely upstaged by the post-match beatdown. Not that it's all bad, either: Bray's over-the-top choke slam in the beginning was great. I think where most people get lost is when it becomes a walk and brawl with supernatural gimmickry shortly thereafter, which honestly surprises me since there's a huge and well executed table spot in the midst of it from LA Knight. LA Knight isn't completely outmatched by the gimmicks, either, brandishing a glow n the dark kendo stick at one point, which made me laugh pretty hard. I don't think you can rate this match without the entire post-match section, as they are clearly one and the same spectacle."

" - Definitely missed the mark with something here, loads of hokey stuff (like that confetti? what the absolute god hell was all that about? ) but there was also a lot to enjoy here. Bray looked fantastic with the black light facepaint (obviously slightly ruined but the mountain dew pitch black stuff) and LA Knight wasn't necessarily "squashed", although it was fairly one sided. Neon in general ruined it a bit but overall as a last broadcasted match for Bray Wyatt I think this deserves a better remembrance in hindsight"

Given the time, you can't expect more than that, but they deliver a serviceable encounter for what they were tasked with doing. Is this a suitable match to be called Bray's last? Not at all. But life was cruel to us in that way. However, I can't call it horrible either. Farewell to Bray, and thank you for the memories."
[7.0] "This was a good first (and sadly last) match back for Bray. It was short at it should have been and it did what it needed too. The post match was a lot better than the actual match though. The debut of the piglike mask that was gonna be the new Fiend, Uncle Howdy jumping off the balcony and the puppets peering over the edge afterwards which was an awesome visual. This may have been just a marketing match but both men did what they needed to and Bray at least looked decent before he passed months later."

The action was nothing special, but that was okay. Bray Wyatt was one of my favorites, and it's very bittersweet that I was able to witness his final televised match live. I'm probably never going to watch this match again, partly out of fear that if I do, I'll ruin the good memories that I have associated to this match. I want to remember Bray's last work as good, and for now, that's how it is. I don't think it deserves the hate it gets at all, and I felt this way about the match even before Bray's passing."

You would think the No DQ stipulation would help them out a bit, but this just wasn't working for me."
[0.0] "To call this the worst wrestling match I've ever seen, though it would be accurate, feels like an incomplete summation. The Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match was always going to be subject to ridicule given its nature as a sponsored gimmick match, no matter what action actually took place, and the match didn't do itself any favors. Paraphrasing Twitter user BackupHangman, this match was a proof of concept on Bray Wyatt's return to WWE. It didn't just need to serve the purpose of advancing a wrestling story, it needed to justify and reward months of teases, a hot return, and then months of vague nonsense and narrative stagnation. It needed to stay putting the pieces together of what exactly Bray Wyatt was bringing to the table for his second chance in WWE and get the wheels turning on... Whatever he had planned for Uncle Howdy. Instead, what transpired was five minutes of blacklight-drenched bewilderment. Like I said up top, I hesitate to evaluate or even describe it like I would a wrestling match. I was rooting for Bray Wyatt. I don't think he's a "creative genius" or any such thing, but I think he has unique sensibilities and pays unique attention to detail. That's what made The Fiend interesting to me, at least on paper. I understand that other people aren't interested in what he's offering, they want their wrestling shows to be about wrestling, and while I generally agree with that sentiment, Bray piques my curiosity pretty regularly, even though the follow-through will likely be bad. I was rooting for him to make a triumphant comeback and create something unique, the kind of take on wrestling only he could bring. But after an unforgettable return at the close of Extreme Rules 2022, he stagnated for months, never wrestling and barely enlightening the viewer to any more details surrounding his newest monstrous invention, Uncle Howdy. But it was all building to his first match back at the Rumble, we just had to be patient. I won't bother describing beat-for-beat the events of the match. If you're reading this, you're at least familiar with it. You know about the deep-sea fish face paint and the glow-in-the-dark confetti and the missed elbow drop. It lived up to the punchline folks were treating it as before it happened, and then some. Nothing was learned about the character or what he'd be doing or what themes would be explored in this story. It was a massive waste of time for every fan in attendance, every member of production staff who had a hand in bringing this to life, every performer involved in Wyatt's spooky puppet family, and, perhaps most damagingly, a waste of the time of LA Knight, who had been steadily getting over under Triple H's regime. I feared this build and match would damage him indelibly the same way Seth Rollins broke entirely after his terrible match with The Fiend, but he seems to have come out the other side still miraculously over. So at least it's not all literally the worst-case scenario. Just most of it."

I think that the thing that can best sum up this turgid, slow, visually excruciating match is the fact that uncle howdy missed LA Knight doing his elbow drop. Wyatt was dominant as hell bell-to-bell which is sensible whereas Knight served as a good foil in this story of Wyatt's supernatural return. The post-match angle was crazy on paper, but the execution went a bit wrong. However, my eyes didn't flinch from the interest I have on the aftermath. This could be polarizing but being a fan of Wyatt, I enjoyed it! 3 out of 5 stars!"

Firstly I'll always give wrestling companies props for at least trying something different, and this was definitely something different. Unfortunately in this case "something different" means "looks like a rave from a Blade movie and is boring and dumb and stupid and really very dumb and stupid" and ends with uNcLe hOwDy pulling a Chris Jericho off some scaffolding onto some cardboard and totally missing S.TO.M.P. variant LA Knight. Should be a fun little game mode in WWE 2k24 though. People think Bray Wyatt sucks but it's that he's constantly and consistently given absolute dogshit to work with. This is what they brought him back for? Some whorish product placement and even more spoopy nonsense? C'mon y'all. I'll be nice and give it a 2.5 rounded up to 3 because it obviously took a lot of work to make everything look the way it did and it honestly did look pretty damn neat at certain points."

[0.0] "Does anyone know what the point of the toolbox was? Like, Bray tossed it in the ring, then got hit with a kendo stick for like 20 seconds, and then hit his finisher for the win. It never came up, as far as I could tell. I'll give this match at least one point if someone can at least make sense of that, because this just looked like a nonsense arrangement of moves and spots for five minutes. I can't even give them credit for running short, because then the fight had to continue after the match, culminating in an incredibly funny botched elbow drop for an audience of puppets. That's maybe the most damning thing about this match; I really expected this would be a comedy masterpiece, with the lights off and them just grunting, but the only comedy spot happened after the match (and it was only funny because it was a botch). But credit where it's due, the glow-in-the-dark effects were very pretty."

Wyatt gewinnt die Fehde dominant und es bleibt spannend wie es weiter gehen wird für ihn. Die Inszenierung war groß und alleine der entrance von Bary Wyatt unterhalt mich. Vollgeladene 5 Min Action mit einigen netten spots und letztendlich wird LA Knight abgefertigt mit der Sister Abigal. Dieser hat aber Wyatt "getriggert" und er will nach dem Match Knight an seine grenzen bringen. Hat Howdy nun Wyatt unter Kontrolle ? Wie beim Main Event, zeigt sich wie toll wrestling sein kann, wenn es eine storyline hat die funktioniert mit Wendungen Überraschungen und einem spannenden plot. Die Szene nachdem Match fließt in der Wertung bei mir mit ein. Von dem Entrance von Wyatt bis zu, großen Finale mit dem Spot von Uncle Howdy wurde ich von a-z unterhalten."

I did get a good laugh though. Props to Bray for staying over and selling merch. At this point I'm not sure it's possible for the crowd to turn on him. But this ain't for me."

LA Knight should have received the win to help build himself considering Bray Wyatt builds himself with his whacky creative ideas or even a disqualification which helps generate himself forward. Uncle Howdy completely missed LA Knight at the end, which was hilarious, and the camera men attempted to cover it up by changing the angle. The match was awful, but the idea was alright."

This was the funniest thing WWE has ever done. The giant MTN DEW PITCH BLACK logos, the exploding neon paper, LA Knight's white party rave gear. 10/10 on comedy, terrible as a match."

The sponsorship of the match also doesnt mesh well with the supposedly serious and scary gimmick that Wyatt is trying to portray. [0.0] "I am not a fan of Bray Wyatt's work. I never was. But I always think like it's just not for me. A lot of people loves him and his work, it is simply not for me. But this match was really bad. I mean it has to be the worst PPV match in a long time. First of all the match was called ''Pitch Black'' but it was just different lighting. Even Sin Cara's matches used to be darker than this. Also nothing happened in the match. Plus Uncle Howdy's appearance didn't made any sense. He just jumped on the dude that was already out. And he also missed it. I wasn't expecting anything about wrestling for this match but I wasn't entertained at all. Sorry but I don't even have one good thing to say about this match."

It was a bunch of moves for 5 minutes. The lighting looked cool imo, at least we could see everything. The only valid criticism is the fact Uncle Howdy missed LA Knight. other then that, I thought this was cool and unique and fun."

[1.0] "What a disappointment that was. I never really liked the whole Uncle Howdy stuff, but that's not how you should book Wyatt in his first big match back. Also, it's quite a shame that LA Knight got squashed by Bray, but on the other side he got to show the audience his great mic skills. Who knows - maybe this loss won't hurt him in a big way. The only thing that's worth mentioning is Howdy's insane dive towards Knight. Not gonna lie, it looked cool but if you cut it off the whole package, this match can be very easily forgotten."

There was a really good story behind this clash, the potential of which was wasted in 5 minutes. It was supposed to be something unusual, new, extreme, and there were fluorescent lights, Mountain Dew ads and Sister Abigail after 5 minutes."
