Flair and Perfect were all about destroying Savage's knee at SummerSlam because they thought he would be the easier target to get the belt off. I remember being shocked as a kid seeing Savage pass out in the figure four and getting counted out. Another fine outing between these two."

[8.0] "Great match on television for the WWF Championship, which was rare to see between such big stars. The story coming out of SummerSlam was very exciting, and the addition of Razor Ramon gave it a little extra spice. The psychology was on point, as was Savage's selling of the leg. They told a tremendous story throughout the bout, not leaving Mr. Perfect's efforts aside, who added a lot at ringside. Savage cautiously fighting back, knowing of his vulnerability, while Flair slowly cornered him like a true villain, was great storytelling by two absolute pros. The finish was well done and not only protected Savage, but also launched Razor Ramon into the stratosphere. Great stuff. [***3/4]"

Flair was so great here, going after Savage's injured knee from SummerSlam in classic heel fashion. Savage's last great match in the WWF for sure. The sudden title switch was effective too. [***3/4]"

It was a smart booking decision: Bret was going to win the title, but they didn't want to do a face vs face match, so they had this title change to get the belt off Savage and transition to Bret. The match was good, but nowhere near their Wrestlemania classic, but you weren't going to get that on free TV. As good a TV match as you'll see in this era though, at least on WWF TV."

I also definitely didn't expect that finish, not something you see every day in a World Title match. I liked this just as much as their Wrestlemania match, maybe even moreso."

[9.0] "Great match, not their best together but that's a very high bar. They do an awesome job playing around the story of Savage's injured leg, and Flair busts out some unique offense to wear it down even more than usual. Perfect and later on Razor Ramon also play a factor but it all works together in a positive way. Savage hangs on tenaciously with all he's got, but it's no good, the odds are too stacked, and Flair wins back the WWF title!"
