13.03.2025 | NoOne2 | 10.0 | This could be compared to the two generations of Deathmatch: The Prince of Deathmatch (Drew Parker), a promising Welsh wrestler whose talent is deathmatch, and Crazy Monkey, aka Jun Kasai, a 51-year-old (of course, he was 48 in this match), the god of hardcore matches and deathmatches. In this match, Casay was going to take the title he had won 5 times before from the young Parker. From the beginning of the match, it was clear that these two were going to kill each other. In this match, there were also effects of high flyers, lamp breaking, and moonlight, especially in the ending sequence, where Parker was able to defeat Kasai with a flying move.

Some stomach-churning stuff in here but also some awesome high spots and a ton of energy and adventurousness from each performer. That the action never spilled outside the ring really upped the immediacy and intensity of the match, too. |

14.01.2023 | arrancar | 6.0 | I get that Kasai is death-match royalty and that Parker is an interesting new face at the top of the Japanese death-match scene, but I thought this was pretty overrated. Literally nothing about this match was remotely unique, from the slow grappling start to the trading of lighttube attacks to the big top-rope spots and near-fall spam. I get that death matches are meant to be quite chaotic, but if they're not going to at least be creative, feature really impressive technique, or portray a great sense of danger, then I'm not going to be very impressed. Kasai's selling during Parker's control period was occasionally really good, but like Parker he mostly just took those supposedly dangerous and painful bumps and then quickly moved along, never allowing them to feel significant. Kasai's piledriver off the 2nd rope and through the glassboard was cool, but of course Parker stood up literally 10 seconds later, and to be honest it's not like we haven't seen those sorts of spots before, even in Freedoms. He also then did a top-rope Canadian Destroyer through some thin boards with tape on them that I'm assuming were kayfabe damaging in some way, and again Parker wasn't even knocked down and Kasai still couldn't get the win, even after following that up with a running lariat. They then both started just generally trading big moves and near falls, all of which was equally overkill and without even any especially impressive technique to make it worthwhile. Really underwhelming match. ***

08.01.2023 | CGNRavens | 9.0 | Loved the match though. I liked Takeda versus Drew better but this one was another insanely good title defense by Parker. It felt big, both guys came out in white gear and did insane stuff. The tiger destroyer spot, glass left and right and blood all over the place added some drama to a great first meeting between the legend and the best deathmatch guy out there at the moment. **** 1/2

06.01.2023 | Dragon Master Adam | 9.0 | This was a great match with loads of crazy spots and a reverse tiger destroyer off the top rope into a board of baldes while Drew had skewers in his head. loads of glass and fighting spirit. Just batshit crazy from start to finish
06.01.2023 | Karlsruhe00 | 10.0 | See, there is a spot in there, that made me jump out of my seat. That thing alone is worth those 10 points to me. I absolutely loved this one!
06.01.2023 | Wright15 | 8.0 | Aside from a rather slow first 10 minutes, there was a lot of great stuff packed in this match. Despite this being their first ever singles deathmatch, there wasn't too much new here, as Kasai and Parker did a lot of their usual stuff, but they still told an excellent story and built to an exciting final stretch. ****
06.01.2023 | R0n1n | 10.0 | If at WK17 there was NJPW dream match, FREEDOMS provided a true dream deathmatch for everyone, especially the champion who instantly got into deathmatch after watching the only deathmatch that got Tokyo Sports MOTY award in 21st century. Parker and Kasai never crossed their paths in singles deathmatch, and their first encounter is straight up for the top deathmatch title. I wasn't disappointed in a bit, because there were two warriors who beat the shit out of each other. There was a story of Drew trying to outperform and survive the man who brought him into deathmatch world, giving Jun his own references (like light tubes cross, going out in all white, or swapping the razer blade board during Pearl Harbour Splash). Kasai is phenomenal, doing Tiger Destroyer with Parker's head stabbed with bamboo sticks reminds me of Takeda vs Kasai madness. Fantastic end of the year for those two: Parker finally established himself as the future of deathmatch wrestling, Jun - the fact that age isn't an obstacle. ****3/4
