2 | 29.06.2025 | doobwrld | 9.0 | Straight fucking violence. You can talk about your Necro Butcher vs Samoa Joe's, Funk vs Onita, & your Taker vs Foley's as the most violent matches to happen in wrestling, this is so underrated when it comes to just unadulterated violence. These two hit each other so hard, and worked as such a fast pace, you would think they fucking hated each other. On top of the insane stuff work, the technical ability is pure PWG. Just insane athleticism, and in-ring psychology coming from the both of them. The last five minutes have some of the best near falls i've seen in a wrestling match, though Roddy could've prolonged the savage beating of ZSJ to get him more over in the process. When people think of ZSJ bursting onto the scene in 2015, this is the go to match to demonstrate why the breakout happened. He did it all here. On the shorthand for best PWG matches, ever. ****3/4 |

14 | 15.10.2024 | homunculus | 7.0 | This was a really good match for sure, I mean these guys are awesome so you can't go wrong, but this didn't feel all that memorable, to me. Given the extremely high rating here I guess I was expecting something really special and next-level, but I felt like it never got there. Crowd was clearly into it, and it was obviously a very good match, but that's all. Just your average technically sound ZSJ match. (***1/2) |

16 | 20.08.2024 | Joe907 | 9.0 | Maybe i expected more from these two. The match was good, but i think it was only to make Roderick Strong's PWG title reign look great. I felt there was something missing from ZSJ, maybe it was jet lag. There was some great technical wrestling, and Roderick controlled the pace of the match. Zack worked on Roderick's arm throughout the match. The last few minutes were great. |
17 | 08.07.2024 | Kyle from TheMatchGuide | 8.0 | I don't think this is close to a all-timer like people would suggest, but it's certainly another marquee Strong performance and undoubtedly a top 50 match of 2015. It does feel like they could've taken it farther though. Sabre could've wrenched some holds even more, and Roddy could've hit harder. The go for the crowd-pleasers at times, and sometimes they miss. Just level up the violence boys, you've since proved you can take it. 4.25 Stars. |

34 | 30.09.2023 | LariatNation | 10.0 | Psychologically BRILLIANT! Every single motion has a purpose. Every single move is with a strategy in mind. And every single misfire fits perfectly within the confines of what we know about these wrestlers as individuals. Let's start with Roderick Strong. Offensively, Strong went to the sternum, the abdomen, and the chest at every single turn. Basic strikes, high-octane offense, and attempts at potentially devastating maneuvers alike. Even something as simple as responding to a series of European Uppercuts with an elbow to the sternum. Defensively, Strong knew exactly who Zack Sabre Jr. was and knew he had to think outside of the box to make this work. Yes, he started out by trying to prove himself as the superior technical wrestler. And lost that battle. But the war continued because Strong knew when to depart from that strategy. And when he got caught in a Cross Armbreaker, he transitioned out of it. And when ZSJ turned that into a Triangle, Roddy nearly decapitated him with a counter I truly have never seen. And immediately went back on the offensive with that incredible Wrecking Ball Dropkick. He did it again when he got caught in the Double Wristlock, simply throwing Sabre face-first into the middle turnbuckle. In addition to offense and defense, there were mistakes. For instance, Sabre fighting out of a Superplex attempt, leading to Strong finding reprieve in holding himself up with the top ring rope. Only to be shocked by ZSJ uncharacteristically jumping off the top rope for a Double Foot Stomp to the elbow. Because when the hell would Strong have seen Sabre attempt a move from the top rope? Or a mistake like Strong connecting with yet another body shot, but turning and hitting the ropes because he had overestimated the offense. We literally got to see it in real-time as Sabre cocked back for a response, realized Strong had already turned to run the ropes, tricked him at the last possible moment into thinking the damage was as precise as expected, and then suddenly connected with a huge Running Enzuigiri that Strong stopped himself from running into, but still had to endure. Absolutely brilliant. For ZSJ, the same can be said. His offensive game was predicated on constant motion, with transitions from one hold to the next that had me constantly rewinding the match. Even though the aforementioned Double Wristlock was countered, think about the psychological brilliance of it. Sabre had already done two insane things just to get into that position, so by the time he was ready to torque Strong's arm back, the technical genius that he is had already mentally paralyzed the champion as he feared what could possibly come next. On the defensive front, Sabre knew he had to strike back when things got physical to keep Strong at bay. He had counters for all of the big moves that Strong was prepared to throw his way. He evened the odds when it seemed like a bludgeoning was just over the horizon. And then the mistakes occurred as he trusted those strikes just a bit too much, underestimating the fact that Strong is just as cerebral. Look no further than Strong turning an errant attempt at a Roundhouse Kick into an absurd Pumphandle Backbreaker. This is the epitome of why I love professional wrestling. Watching two master strategists and technicians adapt on the fly, each operating with a strategy in mind but either embracing or refusing to accept the need to call an audible from time to time. There are stories that certainly lend themselves more to the entertainment side of things, but this is what makes professional wrestling the beautifully artistic sport that it is. Two masters of their craft doing what they do best, and never once accepting the possibility of defeat until all hope of victory has truly been lost. Or ripped away from them. The second half of the match escalated into a continued war of strategy, but also a war of attrition. That includes one of the most ridiculous bridges on a Suplex that I have ever seen, inevitably orchestrated by Zack Sabre Jr. I could probably write paragraphs more, but I will just say from here that this was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Cerebral, psychological, strategic, and genuinely brutal. Roderick Strong going for the running knee strike in the corner, running forearm in the corner, and then the Olympic Slam being countered into a submission for the ages would have earned rave reviews on its own. Strong deciding to go back to that very sequence to set up the Superplex he had wanted an eternity beforehand, only for Sabre to have one last counter before Strong finally breaks through his defenses was just S Tier stuff that took that aforementioned sequence to an entirely new level. And for Roddy to then go for a full and deep cover, including his leg wrapped around Sabre's, just put the icing on the cake. They even turned an imbalanced attempt at a Gut Kick into ANOTHER absurd sequence. And a simple kick in the corner to the worked-over elbow by ZSJ, and a Sick Kick again modified to target the torso, somehow managed to be two of the best spots I can recall seeing. A downright gorgeous wrestling match that felt like the evolution of Bret Hart, Dean Malenko, and the countless other technical geniuses who paved the way for this to occur in modern form. I repeat: One of the best matches I have ever seen. From start to finish, Strong knew exactly what he wanted to do, did not diverge from that path, but accepted that there would be detours in the form of ZSJ being unrivaled as a counter-submission wrestler. A captivating story with all-time great wrestling and psychology. And incredible divergences from the normal style ZSJ wrestles when desperate times called for desperate measures. Chris Hero on commentary was the ultimate choice that somehow made a classic even greater. My coherent incoherence comes to an end as I say: Four of the best nearfalls ever. In succession. Leading to a merciful ending. 5 stars, 10 out of 10. S-tier wrestling. |

39 | 19.07.2023 | 2violent4tv | 10.0 | Sabre worked Strong's arm throughout the match, and he sold this very well, showing us several variations of the armbar. Roderick Strong is one of the best heels and this is visible in the fighting style he has, as well as the fans reaction. The last few minutes were extremely tense, it was a series of 4 pins that ended right when the referee's hand was a few millimetres from the canvas. |

41 | 27.05.2023 | KingsCrossing | 10.0 | I'm always going to love a grounded, competitive, no frills matchup like this. What makes this interesting for me is that it has quite a unique blend of styles. It is very fast paced and high impact in a way that isn't too often seen in a match that is so heavy on mat wrestling. It has a feeling of intensity that prevents it from coming across as an exhibition, as can sometimes be the case with ZSJ's lesser work in this time period. I love how Strong just explodes in to his offence - his dropkick through the ropes to the outside is especially great. If I'm nitpicking I do think Strong could have done more with the selling of his arm, but this is a minor grievance in an otherwise excellent match. |

**** 1/2 (1) |

62 | 04.08.2021 | Makai Club | 6.0 | I liked parts of this match. The face v heel dynamic was interesting. Zack? s work on the arm was good, he came up with nice ways to attack it like the enziguri to the arm. But I didn? t care for Roddy? s selling of it. It didn? t seem to affect him much in the grand scheme of things. Roddy? s unrelenting pace was annoying as well. There is urgency and there is just wanting to go to the next spot. This was the latter and it took me out of it. Good match, don? t think it lives up to its rep though. *** |

Usually PWG fans are really loud for a lot of matches and always split between guys, while the same could be said here they were much more hostile to both Strong and Sabre. I can't really describe this match as anything more than just a pretty good wrestling match because that's all I felt it was. Yea the story was there with Sabre and Strong hating each other but it didn't really translate into the match. Sabre did his usual thing where he works his opponents arm and in this case he worked Strong's arm, who in turn gave Sabre some really nasty shots with his knees and elbows. In the end Strong got the better of the match through his own technical skills to work on Sabre, ****1/2. |
