[6.0] "Unfortunately this match did not go to where it needed to go. To have two great wrestlers, you'd think they will create a flawless match and it was flawless but it was rarely engaging. It was good enough thanks to the wrestlers involved but needed more to care honestly. Got to say though, hearing Michael Cole talk about the history of Bullet Club felt so wrong, times changed huh."
[5.0] "I found that match was mid at best. I expected a lot of that "Dream match" between two of the very bests of their generation, but i felt very disappointed at the end of the fight. The match was pretty slow, no big moment, no suspense and over booking."
[6.0] "They could've done better. I'm not saying this was bad, the first half was almost boring but after the OC and the JD left the ringside it was better. But we all know Styles and Balor can do a lot better than this, they weren't able to adding momentum to the contest, and it's a shame"
[9.0] "There was the outside shenanigans between the rest of Judgement Day and Anderson and Gallows and this was very watered done compared to their first ever match at WWE TLC (2017), but it's still a great match between both men for what it was."
[6.0] "ok so the first half of this match is kinda slow and boring honestly. But once we get the 2 factions to brawl and out of the ring side area this match picks up BIG TIME. If that first half of this match was a bit shorter this would be remembered to be a better match. This is a good match it is underrated and i enjoy the work done by both guys. Personally enjoyed there TLC 2017 match a bit more but this was still a lot of fun. 3.25 stars. But that first half of the match lowers the rating"
[6.0] "It was alright, but AJ is so stale at the moment that it couldn't be anything more but a competent technical match. Both of the guys were flawless, hit every move cleanly and the pace of the whole bout was okay too. It's just that they're both at the point of their careers in which their matches won't be anything super engaging."
[3.0] "God, this match SUCKED. Seriously, how these two managed to have one of the most plodding, boring matches ever is just beyond me. This could've passed for a Raw match in 2021. *2*"
[7.0] "I hate WWE style when it comes to limiting the talents of two all-time greats. They had a pretty good match, with the focus of AJ in working on the leg of Finn to try the Calf Killer later on and Finn having to throw some of his old arsenal in AJ. But this didn't feel like the match it should've been. This two can deliver a classic, they have the story, the abilities, but for some reason WWE doesn't get it or doesn't want to outshadow the matches they consider bigger. (*** 3/4)"
[5.0] "I'm going to echo a lot of the lower reviews below me. This was the match of all time. I don't know if you could name a better example of a by-the-numbers technically 'good' match with absolutely nothing spectacular about it. Styles, and to a lesser extent Balor are both resting on the laurels of far superior performances from 8 or 10+ years ago. Balor is slightly more interesting since joining Judgement Day and he's still very slick in the ring, but he's on maybe 40% intensity with no creativity to his current matches. Styles has done nothing remarkable in years. I genuinely can't name his last great match. This was a technical match for awhile with a dead crowd. There was a faction brawl at ringside and eventually they began trading signature moves with no intensity before a 'oh it's over now' finish. **1/2"
[6.0] "This match has be very conflicted. On one hand, it feels like they did just about everything they needed to in order to make this match great. On the other, it just didn't come together in the sense of a classic match that I, and many others, know they are capable of putting on. This match wasn't bad by any means whatsoever, but it was just missing that kick or spark to bring it to the next level."
[8.0] "They can do a classic but I don't think they Will ever do It in WWE. This Is really far than what they are really able to do but the wrestling itself was fluid as axpected and the match in general was more than OK, but I'm axpecting their all time. ****"
[7.0] "We accelerated for a long time and in general, the match could not become something more for my taste. Their match with TLC was definitely better. Here, under the last five minutes, the downhole action began with the exchange of their crown techniques. Although I did not see the intrigue and interest of the fans. Everything was quiet enough and with already tired interventions and memorized combinations from athletes. AJ Styles has won and we can move on."
[6.0] "I usually expect a lot more from a match between these two, I found this one pretty boring, even more so compared to the great match they had in 2017 on TLC (***1/4)"
[8.0] "The first several minutes gave a slow burn feel just like how they did in 2017. Once the outsiders began to brawl leading to their ejection, the focus was set tight on the action. Both men knew each other for many years & the chemistry b/w them is incredible enough to have a great match in their worst days. This wasn't that day as they worked their bodies off in a strong pattern of wrestling and delivered an awesome contest despite lacking a little bit of magic from their 2017 clash. Styles bagging a PPV win after a long time felt right without any form of block to Bálor's momentum. 4 out of 5 stars!"
[6.0] "This was a solid match, Both men did solid work, the pacing was good, the match was good but it kind of felt underwhelming to me. This feud drags and I wish both factions move on. ***1/4"
[7.0] "This was just fine. It really should have been and felt like a much bigger deal though. It is so refreshing to hear Cole be able to explain to the audience the significance of the match for anyone that does not know of wrestling outside of WWE."
[7.0] "There's nothing wrong with this match, but trying to work this kind of match after the crowd had just seen a match with a bunch of high spots was wrong. Styles and Balor had a well-worked wrestling match, there wasn't much outside interference in this and the main story of this was Styles working over Balor's leg, in which Balor's selling was solid. Styles tried to win off a calf crusher, but Balor countered but the 2nd time Styles went for the forearm he got the win.***1/2"
[7.0] "If I am being honest. I did kind of think this match would be a 8+ for me but instead the match felt quite slow. Both talents are unbelievably good but that doesn't always mean the match was going to be an instant classic. I am glad that AJ Styles finally won a PPV match after years The match was solid, had enough time, but it did not live up to the hype that most fans were highlighting it would have."
[4.0] "Watching this match, I am reminded how easily tricked WWE fans are into thinking workers are great. AJ Styles had a small fun run in WWE back in about 2016, Finn Balor has not had a single great match in WWE (and hardly any in his whole life) yet WWE fans tell you that they are great. There is no evidence either of these are good unless you load up old TNA/ROH/NJPW for AJ Styles or NJPW if you are feeling kind about Balor. These two boys are absolutely coasting it, god bless. People need to stop trying to convince themselves these two can still go or even want to still go. Impact Plus is very affordable if you want to see a good AJ Styles match. This was incredibly boring. Highlight was Dominik being too stupid to realise he was meant to go into the barrier on the outside and just falling over when he was thrown into it. The crowd reaction to this was exactly as loud as it deserved."
[8.0] "The epitome of a match that is significantly better than the crowd reaction would suggest. This was a brilliant story that called back to their NJPW roots and rivals, including AJ Styles taking a page out of the Hiroshi Tanhashi book with the Dragon Screw between the ropes. Seeing Styles remorselessly work over the leg was a treat, especially with how logical it was given the offense utilized by Finn Balor. Balor, meanwhile, was raw in his physicality and took this up a notch as it went from a great technical affair to a brawl between them. The move stealing was also perfect for this story between former Bullet Club leaders. It really was a shame that the crowd was not into it, because the story here was genuinely captivating from start to finish. A MOTN contender and a genuinely great display of how to tell a story through the targeting of a body part, as well as when to break things down once the personal animosity reaches its breaking point. 4 stars, 8 out of 10."
[5.0] "This was one of the most boring, paint-by-numbers examples of a 'well-worked' match - there wasn't anything wrong it, but I can't recommend it either. For whatever reason, in WWE AJ Styles had a bunch of matches like this before and I don't know why, the urgency just wasn't there."
[8.0] "Nice match, nothing more, nothing less. I really enjoyed the trash talk. Very basic, but executed very well. But for a match between AJ Styles and Finn Balor we were definitely missing that little it-factor. And despite the match itself wasn't too short, the ending felt rushed. Fine as long as there's still more to it."
[8.0] "A little slower paced that i expected, however a fantastic story in this match, i really enjoyed the wrestling here and the ringside shennanigans being kept to a minimal. Fun match."
[6.0] "I expected better from the two of them. I think the position in the card was penalizing. I think AJ is now in the last years of his career, Balor too. Technically clean but the match should have been faster."
[5.0] "The match of all time. It's easy to see that these two don't really need to try anymore and can just coast along. Can't say I necessarily blame them since they're both in their 40s. Heel Balor was in control for far too long, and AJ's hope spots felt dragging. I'm not jumping the gun to say that Styles is "washed", but 2022 has not been his best year."
[8.0] "A good old wrestling clinic between two highly talented men, the work his was high tempo and very enjoyable, the heels interfered as excepted but didn't ruin the match by overdoing it, there were plenty of false falls and big moves too keep me interested. Great match."
[7.0] "Liked a lot of the psychology in this match. Match was also very well paced. The interference hurt the match between the two of the best workers in WWE. Everything looked good even if nothing they did was overly spectacular."
[5.0] "We all know that Finn Balor and AJ Styles are two of the very best in WWE and they can easily have a great match, but this was just not it, in fact it wasn't even good. Started off well, slow pace, good chemistry, a brawl between the members of the two factions, some kick outs and just when I thought that the match is about to become great with AJ hitting the Phenomenal forearm, Finn didn't kick out and the match ended in 18 minutes. Nothing exciting happened, no good near falls and a very very disappointing ending."
[7.0] "A decent performance by both men, however other than great wrestling chemistry, it really didn't all that much else. It did improve when the interference stopped but it was just a good match."
[8.0] "A super good match, finally the Phenomenal is back on the W side on ppv. Solid stuff only: psychology and a bit of storytelling, good sequences like not so many they can do."
[7.0] "A pretty good fight, it was what I expected. Interruptions, fights out of the ring, I was really expecting this. I liked the fight and for me it didn't matter the winner, I think good stories can still be made between both factions."
[8.0] "A good match, with an unfortunate crowd. They had some good technical work throughout and I am glad we got everyone at ringside out of the way early on."
[5.0] "That was definitely a wrestling match that happened. Though I couldn't tell you a single memorable thing from it, neither good nor bad. Schrodinger's wrestling match. AJ doesn't have it anymore and Finn has slowed down wildly too, but it's technically competent. 2 ˝ stars."
[4.0] "A great dissapointment from this match, this was a proof that the actual AJ Styles is no more the performer he was in the past, the biggest part of the match was TOO, but too slow, Finn kinda carry this match, he did an aceptable performance, it looked like both didn't got chemistry in the ring, wich is dissapointing considering his first match years ago where this is the totally oposite, this feels so much that the end of the match was kinda anticlimactic because this was not even the mid part of what their first match was. I could only say that I like the last 5 minutes aprox. Of the match where they did some good sequences but that's all, Hell, even Finn tried to Hit the Bloody Sunday, with all the meaning that the finisher had in the past of his career and the Bullet Club. IF only they could keep this pace for some more minutes...In my opinion this is a 2.25 Stars of Match. Great dissapointment."
[5.0] "A solid match. They persist with the leg work and a little bit of middle section work according to the finishers. A competitive bouth until AJ earned the victory"
[6.0] "I thought this was going to be match of the night but it was actually very underwhelming. Its so frustrating to see two excellent wrestlers go at 65%."
[6.0] "Not bad but just never really hit that gear you'd want it to. Tough to come after a War Games match and do a 20 minute match like this, so kudos for not losing the crowd too much."
[9.0] "Excellent match. AJ finally got a win on PPV after like 3 years or something. Really high quality mania style back and forth match with a great sequence at the end."
[10.0] "Huh, I thought this match with Finn Balor vs AJ Styles was tremendous, which is expected since both men are excellent workers. The action throughout this match was consistently great, and I figured that this would get a way higher score than the current one is showing at this time."
[8.0] "These two cannot have a bad match. Great technical wrestling here. The pace was slow for the most part but it picked up a little towards the end. Good selling and counters by both. I liked Finn taking the head smash Calf Crusher counter from Brock Lesnar's playbook. Not a ton of false finishes besides the Calf Crusher, but I liked the teases of stealing finishers. You don't see that much anymore. Good, clean finish as well. AJ needed this win badly, and he got it. Good match. [***3/4]"
[7.0] "A solid wrestling match between two very good veterans. The early going saw Styles target Balor's leg to limit his mobility and Balor in return wore Styles down with some nice counters and big moves of his own. There was one brief interference spot from Damian and Dominik before Gallows and Anderson stepped in to brawl with them into the crowd. This improved the match as it meant there wasn't any chance of an overbooked finish. From there, things picked up and improved. Balor went for a Coupe de Grace but missed and came up limping, selling the damage Styles inflicted earlier. Styles got Balor in a Calf Crusher and nearly forced him to tap before Balor grabbed Styles by the head and slammed it into the mat until he let go, in a nod to the Styles vs Brock match at Survivor Series in 2017. Styles ended up winning after hitting a Phenomenal Forearm for the clean win. There wasn't anything wrong with this match, it's definitely good, but it never got to that next level to make it great. 7/10"
[5.0] "So dissapointed in this one. They worked a technical for 2 thirds of the match and the crowd gave them nothing. I thought sometimes their moves looked good and other times it looked they were a step behind. Good for AjJin getting the win, he needed it after a long time."
[5.0] "Really boring match, although technically ok. But there was never anything interesting or new, just moves with not much impact being trade. The story didnt have much urgency."
