[10.0] "A contender for the greatest triple threat of all time. Cena's never give up attitude vs the unstoppable force of Brock Lesnar will always be a winning combination, but then add in the rogue element of Seth Rollins being the ultimate cowardly weasely heel being an ultimate opportunist and picking his moments to get involved and you have a masterpiece of character work and storytelling. Also just so much fun to watch with lots of insane spots dotted throughout."

"It was a match in which each character trait was reflected flawlessly in the action--Lesnar's brutality, Cena's toughness, and Rollins's cunning. Especially when you consider that Seth only moved into the singles scene in a big way just half a year ago, you can't help but be amazed by how quickly and completely he has adapted."

Brock was the unstoppable beast that would maul anything in front of him, Cena ironically was the underdog fighting against all odds, and Rollins was out there moving like a cat, mad reflexes and an incredible showing of athleticism. I've hardly see a 25 minute match go by this fast. There isn't a single moment of dullness from start to finish. All 3 guys are constantly bringing something new to the dance. A phenomenal match, one that will be remembered for years. *****"

Doesn't hold up as the car crash you remember it. some nice spots are here for sure but the match is light on anything interesting in its construction and Brock is firmly in his 'just do suplexes' era, coming from watching his Cena match in 2012 and the Punk match this is just paltry by comparison. Not an all time great - but still a great match."

One of the better triple threat matches, with the context that Brock was a monster at this time so there was a danger for him losing the title. it does fall into the one on one trappings, especially later in the match with Brock taken out. Its still pretty thrilling and I thought Rollins added to the match big time but I don't love it especially on rewatch as some others do."

It can be exciting but it's also very lazy planning. Anyway, I really do enjoy this match and it's wild because at the time because I assumed Brock was going to win but they had me going several times. That's a sign of a good match."

The match was breathtakingly beautiful. Outstanding stuff. I loved the table where Seth hit the frog splash and it took Brock out for a couple of minutes, but then he came back out of nowhere and started suplexing Cena and Rollins. Incredible match."

The first 15 minutes were riddled with probably (no hyperbole) 20 suplexes along with several F5's, Stomps, AA's, and a whole lot of power moves between all 3 in the ring at the same time. They could just not leave each other alone during this time. After Cena and Rollins both beat the shit out of Lesnar, ending with Lesnar getting hit with the steel steps and a Flying Elbow Drop through the announcer's table, he was out until the final 30 seconds of the match, about 10 minutes later with Cena and Rollins actually having a banger mini-match till Brock came back from the dead and just won with an insane 30 second final sequence. ADHD compilation, I'm telling ya."

Brock no selling everything, but a single elbow on the table takes him out for extended period? Just weirdly booked."

Put all 3 components together and you get a fun wild triple threat that really focuses on the genuine strengths of each man in the ring. Subverting the Cena/Brock trope that had been going on by adding in Rollins was a great shout, and in an otherwise lackluster PPV, we have a gem of a match to enjoy"

Also, in my opinion, all three wrestlers are a bit overrated--maybe Brock Lesnar less so. This was the period of John Cena's career when I was tired of him, and I'm sure many others felt the same. With all due respect, I don't think any of these three deserved to be in the spotlight as much as they were back then. Daniel Bryan was still underappreciated, CM Punk was treated poorly, and Dean Ambrose, the most likable member of The Shield, was constantly overlooked. I just don't like this match--whether it's the storyline, the in-ring storytelling, or the technical performance of the wrestlers.I want to give this match a zero because it was genuinely bad, and I didn't like the forced push it had. Believe me, I'm not trying to mess up the rankings or anything--I think I have the right to dislike a match. This match, weirdly, felt like it insulted me. I hope the site doesn't ban me again; this is my honest opinion without any bias. Overall, this Royal Rumble pay-per-view was really bad--both the Royal Rumble match itself and the other matches."

The ending was good, Rollins getting ready to hit the curb stomp on the briefcase but Lesnar recovering and hitting the F-5 was a cool way to finish this one."

Brock being out of this match for like almost 10 minutes slightly hurts this match for me just cause his presence at the beginning of it and when he made his way back to the ring after he recovered was earth shattering. But it allowed Cena and Seth to continue to build off their existing chemistry they had that would continue to come to play later on in the year. 2015 Cena where he adapted adding a few wrinkles to his arsenal was so godly, his "movez" era if you will. and then you have Seth who played the stooging heel perfectly. ****3/4"

Obviously you want to make your world champ look strong, but shaking off 3 AA's and a curb stomp like it's nothing is just whatever to me. The match was at its best when Brock was out of the picture and it was just Cena and Rollins going at it. Great performance by Seth by the way. One of the best from his earlier years in WWE."

[9.0] "The match that put Rollins at the main event level, the match that made Brock Lesnar looks even more like a complete beast, the match that showed to us that John Cena no longer is the top guy we usually know him. This was a match with a lot of changes, and I kinda hate a foot behind about this match cause the first minutes was very annoying to me. I KNOW, I GET that Brock Lesnar is a monster and they need to show that with him doing German Suplex and German Suplex and German Suplex and...well, you know? At one point I was already tired of that, finally Cena and Rollins manage to drag him outside and them they had a fight. This wasn't really a Triple Threat Match and that's totally okay cause the storyline said to us that this match is not fair at all. Brock Lesnar was at another level in this era and for you wrestle him...you simply cannot wrestle. Powerhouse, highflyer, brawler, fuck it, he's better than you. And that's it, you accept it."

[9.0] "Brock Lesnar is a challenge to work with. He is a conqueror of worlds, and you can't look too competitive against him. I think making the match a triple threat really makes it a lot easier for 'mortals' like Cena and Rollins to work with him, and it shows in this match. Because there are no disqualifications and because Lesnar has to worry about two opponents, it's a lot easier for say Rollins (who wasn't yet a proven main eventer) to pull Lesnar down to his level. The match is a total car crash, these guys are just going at it from bell to bell, and that is the type of match that Lesnar really excels at. Fantastic match imo, no notes. Would've been cool for Rollins to somehow win and cash in his Money in the Bank on himself but I'm not gonna fault them for not doing that."

I know ratings are subjective but this may be the best triple threat match in WWE history. It is a 4.5* of a 5* maximum here. Rollins, Lesnar and Cena played their roles perfectly and the action did not stop for a second. Rollins proved himself a legit main eventer there. Phenomenal match without a single doubt."

[9.0] "Incredible match, a beloved classic, and one that I think is better with more watches. The action here is astounding, several incredibly well placed spots, and it's as true a classic of the triple threat format as you can possibly get. What makes this match tick though is the performances though, how the characters are defined, and the details that this match absolutely perfects that I think have been lost in the truly remarkably executed spots. Brock is Brock, the most unbeatable fighter ever. And he is truly unbeatable here, Cena hits him with numerous AAs, Rollins with curbstomps, he goes through the barricade, the announce table, and he overcomes this all to win. But he is out of commission for long stretches. There is a chance there to win. A glimmer. What if Rollins and Cena genuinely try and work together to beat him? At no point do they actually do this. Because that's not who they are. Cena is The Franchise. He's not going to work with the heel Rollins, who claims to be The Future, a slimy evildoer who turned his back on his friends and talks of taking the easy way out with his MITB contract in case he loses. Cena also makes note that he *could* win by pinning Rollins, but he will pin Brock. And this is what he mostly tries to do until Brock is truly out and he gets in a singles match with Rollins and he must go for the win. Rollins meanwhile is the wildcard, the daredevil, his chance to win is by going for broke. Or Plan B. And every man wrestles this way. The Cena-Rollins exchanges in this are so perfect. They do not work together. It's their downfall. But when they wrestle each other, they don't waste time. They try and win. There's no logical hole there. When Cena tries to take Brock out, Rollins does not work *with* Cena to take him out, he takes Cena out and then seizes his opportunity to put Brock through the table. He immediately puts Cena back in, and tries to win the title. There is an urgency and desperation here, everyone wants to win. The moments in between the huge spots elevate the proceedings and make the huge moments land with just as much of a thump as they actually, physically do. Years later, the fact its one of the only times Rollins has ever landed the Phoenix Splash, and he still comes up short because, well, Brock Lesnar is in the match makes it even more perfect. An all time WWF classic, the triple threat format perfect. Brilliant match. ****3/4"

JoeyBingBong wrote on 17.01.2025:
[9.0] "Triple threat matches are seldom to my taste, but this gets so much right that it becomes simply undeniable. As most things of this time were, it's a Lesnar vehicle, reiterating his place as WWE's most dominant grappler. Cena quietly assists that process, turning in yet another comically selfless performance. He gets brutalised in the initial interactions with Lesnar, later aligning himself with Rollins in order to highlight Brock's status as king. Speaking of Rollins, he ticks a couple different boxes here, serving as the cowardly heel while also providing this with the flashy offence befitting its pace and tone. Those offerings are framed as opportunistic too, never sacrificing his heel presentation. He and Cena have a singles match along the way too, which is terrific and maintains the people's attention in Lesnar's absence. Great match, a classic triple threat. ****1/2"

[9.0] "An excellent triple threat match between Brock Lesnar, John Cena, and Seth Rollins. This one started off hot, with all three guys trading finishers and other big moves from the first minute. Lesnar looked ridiculously strong, kicking out of an AA at 1 and no-selling multiple more. Rollins showed off his awesome athleticism, landing on his feet from a german suplex, plus delivering a phoenix splash to Cena, AND of course the spot of the match: the diving elbow to Lesnar on the outside. The match did slow down a bit after Lesnar was taken out during the middle portion, but then things definitely got crazy again once he returned. Overall, an awesome match."

I mean it legit might be the absolute best 3 way match of all time it has it all. I think it's interesting whenever cena goes to do the knuckle shuffle that it seems like cena does the u can't see me to the crowd a little cocky ish which i feel like definitely should have been felt into more because he is a human and has ears his character would be able to realize he isn't liked which is why this year was great for a heel turn. Still shocked they added mitb contract holder to a world title match i expected at the time for it to be just cena and lesnar. Love how they got lesnar out of the match in order to make people believe there may be a title change but right at the end lesnar out of no where runs in and gets the win and how damn explosive is lesnar holy crap. 4.75 stars i'll never be tired of it"
Icekommander wrote on 04.12.2024:
[9.0] "I got complaints about this match. The crowd's reactions to Cena are weird from a 2024 perspective, and it throws off the dynamic of the match when the unstoppable beast and opportunistic coward are cheered over the hardworking honest guy in the middle. Late in the match the pace slows way down as Cena and Rollins basically start killing time until Lesnar gets back. And when he does get back, Lesnar no-sells all the offence. But this match really does sing something special for the stretch between Cena and Rollins first finding a chink in Lesnar's armor until about the time when J&J re-enters the ring to break up the STF. The action is great, the dive that Rollins does onto Lesnar is amazing, and story of Cena and Rollins pouring incredible offence into Lesnar just to try and keep him down for a few minutes is magical."

It combines the two types of triple threats well, with the initial match and the ending portion being primarily 1 on 1 fighting, with the middle portion being a brawl between the three men. Honestly, it is the only match worth rewatching from this event, and showed the deep bag of Seth Rollins as he played a perfect heel to Cena and Brock. Brock winning was also a good decision, keeping everyone looking strong while allowing for one of the best moments of this era months later with the heist of the century."

John Cena and Seth Rollins really sold well for Brock while making the match believable that we could have seen a title change. Brock Lesnar is an animal and this match gave him plenty of opportunities to show that including the annouce table spot that did injure him yet he finished the match as strong as possible. This bout felt like the coming out party for Seth Rollins as he did some crazy spots yet was so fluid especially in the exchanges with John Cena. We have prime Cena, prime Rollins, and Brock at the height of his Beast Incarnate run. These three all had outstanding chemistry and the action legitimately does NOT STOP. There is not a single second in this match where there isnt something happening. You have big moves being thrown out left and right, high risk spots, table crashes, barricade spears, false finishes galore, and extremely high drama. It was a blast to watch and it felt like it was only 10 minutes. Cena and Rollins had an absolute clinic after Lesnar was taken out, and when he comes back in and just cleans house, its so hype. Seeing J&J security get completely obliterated is nice as well. A perfect triple threat that manages to avoid the killer of this match type, the two in the ring at a time formula. Theyre all almost always involved. Its never just two wrestlers, one goes out, the next comes in, its everything done by everyone at the same time."

The rest of the show sucked and caused the #CancelWWENetwork movement. However, this triple threat blew us away. Everyone looked like a million bucks. This was Seth Rollin's breakout as a superstar. And I don't mean in the way that WWE called all their male workers "superstars" back in the day. I mean that he showed he can be a main event player for years to come. Brock was booked like an absolute monster, taking a half dozen finishers and ultimately winning the match with a "broken rib." This all made sense given he had broken the Undertaker's WrestleMania streak the year before so he needed to go on a tear. Cena had some great spots too. The double AA on J&J looked brutal. Brock also double suplexed J&J which was awesome. Those guys got their asses kicked and they weren't even in the match...anyone who hasn't watched this should check it out. [9.0] "This was a masterful match from a storytelling perspective and one of the most entertaining WWE title matches from an in-ring perspective. You have such an awesome dynamic in this match. Cena as the powerhouse babyface, Seth as the athletic and opportunistic weasel heel, then Lesnar as the unbeatable boss from a video game. This dynamic brought such great psychology that you rarely see in WWE matches these days. Seth plays his role as a smart wrestler perfectly in the early going. He retreats to the outside and gets help from J&J Security when threatened. He breaks up Cena and Lesnar's interactions with those cheap shots and stuns their momentum. His athleticism shines even brighter because it contrasts the brute strength of the other two so well. It's great wrestling 101, folks. Lesnar naturally takes control of the match and 2014-15 was arguably peak Lesnar. He rocks the monster role and throws Cena and Seth around like nothing. Both men sell and bump for Lesnar's offense like crazy. This eventually leads Cena and Seth tp form a short-term alliances to neutralize Lesnar. Cena showed a ton of intensity on offense as he struggled to keep Lesnar down. It was a great segment because it was such a natural set up to Seth's iconic elbow through the announce table. What a killer and memorable spot. It turns out you don't need 30 dives in a single match, crazy. The Cena vs Seth portion of the match is pretty excellent. This might be their best wrestling with one another. Their bumping was great, Cena hit a beautiful Liger Bomb and falcon arrow, Seth beautifully flipped out of the AA, the curb stomp nearfall was insane and the crowd bought it. In short, I loved their chemistry. What a fucking finish too. Seth nails Cena with a Phoenix Splash but Lesnar returns from the grave. Seth flips out of the German and picks up the briefcase, teasing one last title change before Lesnar puts him down with a sweet looking F5. WWE overuses the triple threat stipulation, but every now and then they perfected it with a phenomenal match like this was. ****1/2"

The finish of the match, while shocking and hilarious, was a bit silly...as most injury angles are in WWE. Michael Cole can't go from saying Brock has "at least a broken rib" to Brock sprinting in the ring (no-selling the rib and anything else) and winning the match while proceeding to not sell any injuries on the way to the back. It was silly. Cena's pop-up powerbomb got a pop out of me. The elbow through the ring was amazing, considering Lesnar doesn't take those bumps often. The stair shots were pretty wicked all-around. Cena's double FU to J&J was great. The Phoenix Splash Rollins did at the end was almost a Phoenix Headbutt splash the way he landed. Rollins's flying knee to both Lesnar and Cena was probably the cleanest flying knee he's ever executed. You can also tell the live crowd thought there was a chance Rollins could have pinned Cena for the championship after his last Curb Stomp to Cena, that was a nice false-finish. But the injury stories factoring heavily into the finish of a world championship match is never the best look. Great match, 8 stars."

[9.0] "[4.75*] This is one of the most important matches of Seth Rollins' career, thanks to it the Cash in at Wrestlamania 31 was possible, as it was in this match that Rollins proved that he could be a maint eventer. The dynamics of the match were very interesting, Lesnar was the dominant champion, Cena the courageous challenger and Rollins the cowardly heel who was willing to do anything to win. Seth Rollins does an incredible Flog Splash on Lesnar at the commentator's table which basically eliminates him from the match to go to a one on one against Cena, the exchanges they have are simply incredible, Rollins escaping the AA, the kickouts, it was without a doubt the best sequence of the match. Rollins' Phoenix splash still looks as insane as I saw it for the first time, Lesnar's return despite being anti-climax was still fun and his victory was dominant."

[10.0] "An all timer match during a dreadful era of wwe. By this point I was already tuned out of wwe so I didnt watch this match until just a few years ago. Loved it then and multiple rewatches later its still just as good as the first time. All 3 guys still in their primes in front of a red hot Philly crowd = 5 stars. The finish as well is an all timer for me Seth hits a beautiful phoenix splash Brock swoops in and german suplexs both him and cena. Seth then gets some shots in on Brock with the briefcase before Brock picks him in mid air hits an F5 and wins. Amazing 5/5"

[7.0] "I honestly thought it was a bit overrated not gonna lie, I mean there were some fun spots not gonna lie, but everyone knew that this ended up with Super Lesnar retaining, the stretcher spot was extremely unnecessary in my opinion, and just made the whole thing feel gimmicky in my opinion"
