Adam Cole vs. AJ Styles

[10.0] "This match was an all time classic and in my opinion a top 5 aj styles match and even a top 5 match of all time. I love this match from the pacing to the false finishes it was pure cinama. I really loved when Adam cole hit aj with the double arm hook suplex and aj kicks out at 2.9999, and then Adam cole locking up the figure 4 to aj on the ring post. Then the finish aj hitting cole with a double under hook suplex for the win ( forgot the actual name that aj called it as one of his finishers back then but that's what it was)."

[5.0] "I'm a big fan of Adam Cole's NXT run and up to this point in 2014, AJ Styles would probably be my choice for wrestler of the year/best in the world/etc. But for some reason this just didn't click and I found this to be pretty damn boring, especially watching it very closely to the Styles/O'Reilly match from a few weeks prior. I also didn't care for the Cole/Liger match earlier in the year so maybe this era of Cole just doesn't work for me because he really didn't do much that I found well done or interesting here. The work on the leg makes sense and AJ's selling is good but there doesn't feel like much earned heat or drama, the match moves at a snail's pace, and Cole takes way too much of the match offensively. A rare blemish on AJ Styles' 2014 in a year where so far he's been otherwise tremendous."

[8.0] "Both Adam Cole & AJ Styles were doing some really good work around this time, and as expected, they delivered a banger here. I liked the pacing as they started slow with submissions trying to wear each other down, gradually building up to the finish, as the match got faster as it progressed. The finish is absolutely incredible as Styles hit a God Damn Bloody Sunday off the top rope for the win. Post match, Adam Cole spit on AJ Styles showing how pissed off he was at the loss. Despite a few minor flaws here and there, this match is definitely worth checking out. [****1/4]"

[1.0] "God, how do you fuck up a AJ styles carryjob, one of the most trustful wrestlers for carryjobs. Like I like Adam Cole as a person but I feel even more negative about him as a wrestler. He just does the same stuff, he does some cool moves once in awhile to make you go oh thats neat, but its simply not enough because the match doesn't have that much substance to it. Like AJ does this good selling, good limbwork and all and hey Cole looks like he gonna play along. But Styles just succumbs to playing by Cole's rule book, worst part of the match is the forearm exchange that goes on forever and also leads to the kickout. And then they stay FOREVER on the turn top buckle until AJ finally gets it around and ends this match. Possibly one of the biggest declines in quality (non-injury) that I've seen mid match."

[9.0] "This match was awesome. This was 2 of the best wrestlers in the world going at it. Both had great showcases of their offense. There was a great near fall with Adam Cole putting his foot on the rope last second. I loved the strike exchange they were doing toward the end of the match ending with AJ hitting Adam with a Pele kick and then Adam falls into a cover, just great stuff from them."

[8.0] "This was a great match. AJ Styles was awesome during this time period, excelling in the ring everywhere he went. Adam Cole was great here too, playing the smug heel to a tee. There was only one sloppy moment when Adam Cole tried to do the figure four from the ring post. But Cole immediately rectified it by doing it again and doing it better. I liked the finish, it wasn't a Styles Clash or a Calf Killer, rather it was a Bloody Sunday from the turnbuckles, that looked great. ****1/4"

[6.0] "Disappointed with this one honestly. Love this era of aj styles and while Im not a big fan of Adam cole I can admit hes a talented wrestler but idk if hes still pretty green or whatever but he was pretty sloppy at points here. The match was also worked at too much of a slow pace for my liking and some of the sequences they did werent good. But it picked up towards the finish admittedly. Decent match 3.25/5"

[7.0] "Not the type of match I thought it be, it was good but never reached that great level for me. There were a couple of rough spots and I didn't really like the kick exchange sequence because it becomes obvious this is two guys co-operating. I liked the finish as when have we seen a bloody sunday from the top end a match?"

[7.0] "They wrestled at a slow pace. Cole targeted the legs of Styles. The finish was great. This was good."

[8.0] "The best in the world against the best in Ring of Honor. The reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion against the former Ring of Honor World Champion. Two prodigal talents at vastly different stages of their careers. For Adam Cole, it was a chance to prove that he truly is among the world elite. For AJ Styles, it was the opportunity to definitively state that he is bigger than the one World Championship that he has never held. And as the match progressed, it became the epitome of how to work through misfires with character work and storytelling. This match had a unique energy surrounding it and it enhanced everything that transpired between the ropes. The wrestlers themselves told a magnificent story of just how close Cole was to realizing his potential. That culminated in a phenomenal, no pun intended, final sequence on the top rope that put a bow on this profoundly physical encounter. An excellent match. 4 stars, 8 out of 10."

[7.0] "This was a sloppy match early however they where able to recover to a point to tell a great story built around Cole working on Styles legs while both where able to survive all of each other signature offense and they had to battle on the top rope to decide this match. ***3/4"

[7.0] "Cole controlling things isn't very interesting at first (what a surprise), but when the focus of his attack goes to AJ's knee, his work gets more compelling to watch -- mostly thanks to AJ being his wonderful & fantastic self, selling his ass off & all. By the end, it's a good match. That top rope Bloody Sunday as the finish RULED."

[7.0] "A good match, but also weird. It should have been better, but it just was'... Ir lacked some story and was very spilt up"

[9.0] "This match was simple in the most awesome way. I think that is the best thing about Adam Cole, his matches aren't flashy and rely more on character work, but he can still pull out standard indie type stuff when he wants. Thankfully he had AJ as his opponent to bring out the best in him as well. I would even say this match is better than their match a year later. A really underrated classic in the catalog of both men, ****1/2."

[5.0] "Vastly overrated match. Lots of time on the ground with not a lot of build to much. Both had much better matches in ROH in 2014 with a variety of other opponents."

[3.0] "It was slow. Every time I watch the screen, I saw both wrestlers in the ground. AJ Styles is old and slow and I never like Cole. Very boring, I dind't care about the match or the wrestlers. Also, Cole botched the Figure four leg lock. I don't know, I don't like Cole, he is a boring wrestler without a gimmick."

[10.0] "I loved everything about this match from the big fight feel to excellent psychology regarding Styles knee. The ending was even better. When is the last time a fight over the advantage on the top ring rope actually finished a match? I have no idea either. A sure match of the year contender, ****Ÿ"
