[7.0] "This was going really well before the concussion, it's truly a shame that their first ever singles match, and a title match, ended like this, an unfortunate incident, I'm sure there's no one to blame or villainize for this. I was really enjoying, the atmosphere was incredible, and they had a super cool brawl outside of the ring, before the match even started. The match had all the elements... blood, nice moves, but unfortunately Page passed out after the king kong lariat, with a bad landing. It was a negative moment and it's impossible to give a very high rating in a match that simply didn't finished, but considering the amazing feud they had afterwards because of this, I'm glad they knew how to capitalize and extract something really good from a bad moment. MJF and Mox improvised really well the post-match angle as well, I can't be sure of what was improvised and what was planned, but they saved the anticlimactic finish - {***1/4}"

[7.0] "[3.25*] Man, a lot of people are saying that it is a shame that the concussion happened because the match was honestly really great before it, but since Hangman is okay I think this was the best thing to happen because they were not going to have a feud if it was not for that. It was going to be an one-off and the concussion generated that legendary feud, my favorite from 2023. So yeah, the match was shaping up really fucking good, the crowd was on fire and the finished was cooked indeed. But as they say, the rest is history."

[8.0] "This is an unfortunate situation to rate a fight that wasn't fully witnessed due to the hazard happened to Hangman, but we have to appreciate his stupendous work before the scare. I'm praying for Mr. Cowboy to handle his scare at the very best and come back even stronger & fierce. Keeping this untimely accident aside, the action was amazing where Page cut off Moxley right from the start, exercised his violent shade again & prevailed for the first half of the fight. Moxley crawled high to retaliate Hangman's unstoppable tension and successfully coming over it until hell made a phone call halting the progress of a great combat. The post-match altercation between Moxley & MJF summed up the remainder with an intense start to a war of attrition which has its final destination being Full Gear and I'm stoked for the road to the clash! 3.75 out of 5 stars!"

"You cannot rate a bout that ended with a severe injury. That's a fucking pity 'cause this Page vs. Mox was damn cool. Both lads were here to just destroy the living shit out of each other and they did soo, a bit too much, maybe. A blast with bloods, tears and sweat. Kudos to Paul Turner and the medical stuff, they were real pros here. Moxley was it also, the man kept cool, put over Hangman and had a heated exchange with MJF. An ace in every composure."
Minimania wrote on 22.10.2022:
[7.0] "This is similar to Okada/Ibushi in G1 Climax 31 final and the 4-way IWGP title match at Forbidden Door - all on their way to becoming great matches, but unfortunately cut short by serious injuries. This match was cut short by around 8-10 minutes, and if they were to have it, this would have been a very good match."
MaveDeltzer wrote on 22.10.2022:
[7.0] "Hopefully Page is okay. I think having him bring the fight to Moxley as an underdog added something to his performance in this. The ending is something I'd like to see more often in pro wrestling, only worked. That kind of thing happens in real fights so I don't hold it against this match (other than it making the match shorter). If Page can rebound from this they'll have a lot to work with in the rematch and it could add another layer of tragedy to his character. The match itself was going pretty good, I thought, and they did well to cover the remaining time after the match was cut short."

PavelDragunov wrote on 20.10.2022:
[7.0] "Trauma is certainly tough. This sport is one of the most dangerous for a reason. Adam Page broke down and as a result, everything now remains in question for him, he will return only when he is ready again, maybe he really turned out to be a boy for Mox. Jon Moxley held out on endurance and again a confident victory. It's a pity that the show ended like that, well, what can I do, it happens."

"I've decided I won't rate this match (for the obvious reason) but I will say this was in pace to be a match of the year contender. We know now that Hangman just suffered a concussion (I say just because It looked ike the worst happened when watching live) so speedy recovery to Hangman."

coppercowries wrote on 19.10.2022:
"First - hope Hangman is ok, never wanna see anyone injured obviously. Reports are saying it's a concussion. As for the match itself - there was no shot of Page winning, so instead I was looking for character work. And I got that in the beginning of the match. i loved Page storming through the crowd to take the fight straight to Mox and cut off his obnoxiously long walk to the ring. Hangman was all offense and it was great. A lot of people don't want him to ever turn heel, but I think it would give him a new direction, especially if put in a proper heel faction."

"No rating cause it's unfair to rate a match when it ended in such unfortunate circumstances. I simply hope that Hangman makes a quick recovery. I will say that the difference between AEW's treatment of this concussion, in comparison to the debacle they had with that Matt Hardy Sammy Guevara match shows a much-needed improvement over how they react to serious brain injury."

[5.0] "Unfortunate circumstances obviously. At this point it's known that Hangman suffered a concussion and hopefully that's the extent of his injuries. I'm glad the match was called off as too often things just move on to get to a finish or are covered up to keep the match going. Anyways, what there was of the match was alright."

[7.0] "I was VERY excited going into this after Hangman cut the promo of his life last week. Despite the scary ending I feel pretty comfortable rating this knowing that Hangman's injury was more standard than what was feared. The aggression off of this was great, Hangman being the instigator of the pre-match brawl to line up with the build and let him play the defacto heel for Mox's hometown. I will admit there wasn't a ton of chemistry once they hit the ring but that opening crowd brawl and balcony moonsault fucking ruled. Just as they were moving towards the final stretch though, a lariat exchange lead to Hangman taking a nasty bump to his temple that concussed him and forced the match to end. I don't blame either man for this, there was nothing out of the ordinary about the bump besides the exact angle at which Page landed that caused the injury. Credit to Excalibur, Mox, MJF, & Regal for filling time on the fly and moving focus towards the future as medical staff moved Hangman out of the ring. Perhaps could've been excellent if it got to finish as expected, but this was a very nice match as-is and I don't want Hangman's great performance in the first half of what we got to go unrecognized. ***1/2"

[8.0] "Despite the tragic ending to this main event (due to Adam Page's unfortunate concussion + possible neck injury here), I still thought that both men delivered a pretty good match up until that incident. This sadly gives me shades of the finish to the G1 finals last year where the match had to be stopped early due to Kota Ibushi breaking his arm + shoulder against Kazuchika Okada (which was a great main event up until the incident)."

"Head and neck injuries are inevitably a part of contact sports, but they are always scary to see. Hopefully Page just got knocked silly and will be fine. I'm just glad they realized there was a problem instantly and ended the match before anyone tried to move him. Best of luck, Hangman. EDIT: Looks like it was a concussion, no neck problems. That was probably best case scenario under the circumstances."

"I was incredibly disappointed at how this turned out, as I spent a week really looking forward to this one. Man, CM Punk, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, & now Hangman Page. Those are some major blows, and the show may not feel the same for a WHILE. Get well soon, Hangman Page."

[7.0] "This was a very solid match up until Hangman's injury, from his bump from a lariat. Very scary injury, I wish Hangman a safe recovery. The rest of the match saw Moxley in control for the most part despite Hangman bringing the challenge to him outside the ring. The match ended with about ~8 minutes of TV time left, and I felt like Moxley, the commentary team, and MJF really saved the ending of the show that was dampened by a very scary moment. They are incredibly lucky that MJF left his skybox mid-match, as it gave them an out."
