And boy from the sound of the bell all four were dashing towards the first fall in a chase of a lifetime that went on full speed and never slowing down. Each of the four workers had either been champion at least once, wanted to be champion again, and were deserving of being the face (or #1 Heel) of the company. This was a Fatal four-way of GOATs. Some of the GOATs of the GOATs, keeping the gas floored that screamed hard and fast to a brilliant finish, where, despite Cena falling by chance to a win, everyone left the ring a winner tonight, with HBK guiding the three younger talents as the Ring General of the pack.

Everyone had their moments and Michaels specifically looked good in defeat. Cena & Shawn were on fire at this point in time and it was fun to see their interactions, plus Orton & Edge were solid hands so they really couldn't go wrong with any of them going over here. Solid 4 stars.

Loved the pre-match promo with Cena implying Orton was in the closet and Orton burying himself in the stupidest yet funniest fashion. As for the match, great action throughout, excellent pace, everybody got to shine, but once again, one man steals the show, and his name is Shawn Michaels, and yet again, he comes up short in the most heroic manner courtesy of an absolutely brilliant finish. [ = 8.5/10 ] **** 1/4

At the beginning there is a clear separation between Cena and HBK vs Orton and Edge, but it obviously ended soon enough, lmao. A lot of stories happened at the same time and it created a lot of antecipation and sense of urgency on the bout, every second of it was important. The whole match was such an easy-watch, because alongside the dynamics, the wrestling itself was obviously pretty great too, and all 4 men had a lot of chemistry with each other. The most important thing of the match is, obviously, the finish, which is kind of impossible to not love. Very creative and unique on the surface, very meaningful subtetly, with HBK coming up short again and Cena getting lucky with the W after being hit with the Sweet Chin Music.

6105.09.2024danzitorock8.0This match was fantastic, one of the greatest fatal 4-ways of all time, without a doubt, everyone had a little story going on, Cena and HBK fought against each other at the main event of WrestleMania, where Cena got the win, and in the previous Monday Night RAW, in London, the go-home show for this PPV, where HBK won the battle for pride after nearly one hour. Edge and Orton had history together as well, they've previously formed the Rated-RKO, a tag team, that disbanded earlier in the year, and we could see them working together a little bit here. The match was great, everything connected and felt flawless, Shawn Michaels showed why he's Shawn Michaels, unbelievable performance, but what really stood out for me is the ending, it's one of the best and most creative finishes to a match of all time, so simple but at the same time so remarkable and effective, that's how you tell a story... Shawn was so close, he pinned Cena with the same Sweet Chin Music a couple of days ago, but this time Cena was lucky enough, and after the maneuver he fell above Orton, and retained the title. Shawn was pissed, he was kind of obsessed with Cena, and fell short in a brutal way, it was perfect, incredible stuff, and the sequence they all did before was incredible too - {****}

But even without them it was a hell of a Fatal 4 Way with all four guys being main eventers and looking like big deals. Even though the pure wrestling work was great they still didn't forget about the characters and as a result we got Michaels who couldn't comprehend Cena beating him and Edge with Orton cooperating for a little bit. Also the finish with Cena getting hit with Sweet Chin Music, but falling on Orton to get the win was executed perfectly and I still can't believe how smooth everything in this bout was. Much better than I expected and one of the best multimen matches I've seen.

The ending is perfect, and I LOVED the way Cena won, after been kicked by his ex partner Shawn Michaels. 4 of the biggest stars in WWE history realized a fascinating fatal 4 way that will be forever remembered as the best Backlash main event ever.

Nothing tha really tips this over the edge to be a great match for me though, some sluggish pacing at points.
