[8.0] "Very simple, very good. Flair tries to weasel his way to a title retention, but none of it works. The sudden punches that disrupt some more crafty wrestlers flow don't fully work against Garvin, who hit even harder than Flair. Even when he goes dirty, Garvin is both scrappy (those headbuds are a great mix of wrestling for the last row when jumping and straight nastiness when not) and more than willing to pay back in kind. The only control Flair has comes after he throws Ron out of the ring and it happens mostly during the commercial break. The desperation on Flair after the punch that nearly knocks him loopy is great, using the top rope to crotch Garvin. There is a screwy no finish, but the whole way getting there is a great scrappy fight."
[6.0] "It may be difficult to understand because I'm using the translation function. It was a physical match between Flair and Ron Garvin, with some amazing chops. The atmosphere in the studio was great and the fans were excited, but I personally thought it was an average match."
[7.0] "What a show to put on for a studio match. The booking is really good to show off the Horsemen and their enemies. The match itself is pretty good but nothing super special to me. Garvin and Flair work well together but it wasn't all-time by any means. The match ends with The Horsemen and many faces brawling as Ric retains the title once again."
[8.0] "Great title fight. Flair and Garvin have such complementary wrestling styles. Their different styles of throwing chops work really well against each other, and made for a very physical contest. I love how Garvin isn't afraid to return to favour and give Flair a taste of his own medicine when Flair starts to work outside the rules. It makes it feel like you're watching two animals just tearing at each other. There is a great sense of rising intensity throughout the bout. It's a shame it ends in disappointing fashion, but even with the lacklustre finish this is still a really strong title match, especially for TV."
[8.0] "I was excited for this one going in and boy did it not disappoint. Ron Garvin and Ric Flair always had pretty good chemistry. This match had a fucked finish but it didn't hurt; in fact it was actually a great fucked finish. Flair gets DQ'ed by attacking the ref out of desparation and then the Anderson join in on the attack before a huge brawl breaks out amongst roster members. This was just a really good match, and by far the best match I've seen on WCW so far."
[9.0] "I thought this was a really good match between Flair and Garvin that really picked up intensity for the last 5 mins or so which were truly amazing"
[10.0] "I was excited for this match since they announced it, and it definitely did not disappoint! Not only do you have prime Flair here, truly at his best, but "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin is a fantastic opponent for him. He may have been an average promo with no special charisma, but god could he go in the ring. The commentators said he was like a man possessed here and man was that ever true. The phrase "hell for leather" comes to mind as he absolutely pummeled the hell out of Flair at every opportunity. The strikes alone in this match were to die for, Garvin's thunderous shots against Flair's vicious chops, this was a straight up fight that stands up with anything I've seen from this era. In the end Flair reached the end of his rope and attacked the ref to get out of the match before calling the Andersons to join in the attack. It was a hell of a scene as the babyfaces rushed out of the locker room to join the fight and the almost-Horsemen zeroed in on Dusty Rhodes, looking to reinjure his leg. A wild scene after a truly tremendous match, DQ finish or not."
