| 15.03.2025 | TSwifty | 10.0 | This was an exceptional match that is mostly forgotten about despite the big names in the ring and the high caliber match this was. This was a Junior vs Heavyweight match. Both men were the aces of their divisions and Ibushi was the clear underdog going in. Okada was incredible as usual but this time heeled it up brilliantly early on. Taunting, posing and making dirty breaks. It was obvious that Okada wasn't taking Ibushi seriously, at least considering how he beat the Ace Tanahashi for the title he was currently holding. Ibushi looked world class here. Not only was he beautifully delivering his high-flying, agile offense and striking combos but also looked like one of the best babyfaces in the world. Okada's control segments were excellent. He worked over the neck of Ibushi in great fashion. Whenever Ibushi had a comeback he was terrific and would get the crowd very hot. The match was only 19 minutes and paced so well. There wasn't much of a wasted movement. The counters and spots were terrific thanks to their awesome chemistry together. I especially loved the pele kick from Ibushi and Okada's dropkick/Tombstone combo to Ibushi in the corner. The finishing stretch was pretty insane. Big bombs and nearfalls executed perfectly. One great spot was when Ibushi countered the Rainmaker with a Lariat of his own which the crowd practically erupted for. The finishing combo by Okada looked deadly as he delivered a vicious German suplex and a Rainmaker to win. They managed to surpass this at WK14 but this is one hidden gem that deserves to be remembered. ***** |

| 25.05.2024 | Geo93 | 9.0 | An excellent match between Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi. It felt like Ibushi was on top for a lot of this one, so even in defeat he still looked incredibly strong. The stakes felt low for this since it was a non-title match, but the action was top notch. I'd love to see these two go longer at some point. Awesome! |

| 13.06.2019 | FrozenOne | 10.0 | Such a great hidden gem. It's Ibushi and Okada, so you know it's going to be good, and it delivered. Ibushi was still a junior heavyweight and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, so he was the definite underdog going into this bout, and Okada was in his second IWGP Heavyweight Championship reign, and had just dethroned Tanahashi as the new ace of NJPW. The story was simple and made for a great match with some good psychology. Okada attacked the neck early on, but wasn't as quick or as agile as Ibushi. This led to Ibushi using his ariel maneuvers to his advantage and straight up killing Okada with some massive lariats. The finishing stretch was also extraordinary, especially Okada hitting Ibushi with a devastating high angle german suplex to set up for the Rainmaker. ****3/4 |

| 26.02.2019 | Makai Club | 9.0 | Awesome match. I haven't watched an older Okada match in a long time and I'm glad I chose this match to watch. Perfect showcase for Ibushi. Okada sells his arse off for him, really puts him over as on his level as well as doing some excellent work himself. Love Ibushi's work from underneath. Nothing gets me more pumped than an Okada match. Ibushi was incredible too. ****1/4 |

| 04.03.2018 | Dragon Fighter | 10.0 | Damn this was fantastic. 2 faces in their divisions facing each other which was always interesting. Just great back and forth action with both showing off their skills. The pace was great. The crowd was very hot and into everything they did. |
| 10.12.2017 | StiffDragon | 9.0 | I'm not as big on Okada than most of the NJPW fans are but both did very well in this match. Great pace with a lot of moves/action. Ibushi has shown many times that he can hang with heavyweights, this match was no exception. |
| 27.09.2017 | LegibleToe762 | 9.0 | I approve of the whole Heavys vs. Juniors, and this match proved it pretty well. Both Okada and Ibushi seemed to have a fairly safe match by their standards which worked well, nothing went badly, nothing went wrong and what these two can do means that they can't go wrong. Chemistry worked here, just a pretty good match in all. (****1/2) |

| 13.02.2017 | TrevPuroFan | 10.0 | Rewatched this today, and still as good as the first time I watched it. Loved how Okada heeled it up abit, as he brought it to Ibushi from the get go, but Ibushi tried to counter everything Okada did here with his flips and such. Just a great great match here. (****1/2) |
| 14.12.2016 | seriousbusiness | 9.0 | Really fun match between two different styles. Crowd was really behind Ibushi in this match since he was the underdog going into the match but Okada as well also got a lot of fan support. Ill admit, the first half of this match is pretty standard as far as Okada matches go, he sets up his opponent for his spot and does his moves, very formulaic imo. Thankfully his opponent was Ibushi so he was able to stretch out a little and get into more interesting sequences. Unfortunately the match ended just as it was getting on that border from good to great, ****1/2. |
| 24.10.2016 | arrancar | 8.0 | What a great match. This was billed as a junior vs heavyweight match, given that both wrestlers were the champions of their respective weight divisions. Okada is quite arrogant and heelish, constantly posing and taunting Ibushi, as well as not listening to the ref’s calls for rope-breaks. Ibushi plays his usual passionate high-flyer/strong-styler self. Both are great at playing their respective characters. This match had lots of great spots. One spot I especially loved was Ibushi countering Okada’s Rainmaker with a lariat of his own and then follow-up lariat to temporarily put Okada down. The match pacing following on from this specific spot was much more exciting, and we got many more exciting and impressive athletic displays from the spots that came next. As was what I wished for, Ibushi looked super strong going against a heavyweight, even kicking out at 1 to Okada’s signature reverse neckbreaker. The chemistry between these two was perfect for the entire match and especially so in the finish. Okada appeared to have finally realised around this time that Ibushi was a real threat, hence why he no longer looked arrogantly nonchalant and instead looked demonically possessed and determined to put Ibushi away. I don’t consider this a near 5 star match as some others seem to, despite both men being my favourite NJPW wrestlers, but it was indeed a great match. Hopefully one day Ibushi returns to NJPW and they can surpass it. **** |

| 27.08.2016 | Hunter Dunn | 10.0 | Very fun and exciting match as you'd expect from 2 elite performers. The closing stretch was some awesome stuff but the whole match was great too. Ibushi neck was the focus of the match and it made a good story for the Jr trying to overcome the Heavyweight. Hope to see another match again ****1/2 |

| 06.06.2016 | NastyYaffa | 10.0 | Loved this. A great heavyweight vs. jr heavyweight battle. Okada did his usual neck work, and he brought his cocky attitude to the match too, and Ibushi tried to counter that with his flashy offense & amazing flips. This was built SO well. As far as heavyweight vs. jr heavyweight matches go, this might have been even better than Hashimoto vs. Liger. ****1/2 |
