Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara

[8.0] "I'm genuinely shocked by the low ratings. If people seriously have an issue with Sammy Guevara due to a few silly comments or his personal relationships, that's just sad on their end. This guy is phenomenal and incredibly charismatic. To anyone with unbiased eyes, Darby and Sammy had another banger together here. There was excellent wrestling to start as both men are so good with their quick counters and Darby with his technical work. Sammy was great with his athleticism and kicks out of nowhere. The suplex sequence was unique, and Sammy using Tay to block Darby's dive and catch him with a cutter out of midair was awesome. Their exchanges were exciting and the final 1/3rd had some phenomenal offense from Sammy. His cutter from one rope to another is absolutely breathtaking. Darby's selling and bumping were once again great. The finish with the JAS interfering was predictable of course, but necessary to protect Darby and get Sammy to Dynamite. The Burning Hammer finisher from Sammy looked beautiful and Darby sold it like death. Sammy is an amazing heel and Darby is THE underdog babyface in AEW so this is just a recipe for greatness and I feel like we'll be seeing a MOTYC between these two one day. ***3/4"

[7.0] "These two never fail to impress us with their very good chemistry but that might've been the bane here. That awesome synergy was worn out resulting in a predictable rally of spots and fast paced action and the result itself was a letdown giving Moxley the easy path to reach the final destination. Had Darby won here, it could've reheated him, possibly given a tough task for Moxley to advance increasing the unpredictability & prestige of the tourney. But it is what it is and I'm fine when it works out the way expected. 3.25 out of 5 stars!"

[5.0] "Not my cup of tea, but at least, that delivered. Both guys had a good showing on their own, displayed their own style in a cool mix of things. They've put on some good spots, nevertheless. They had better ones in the past. The final stretch was predictable as fuck as well."

[6.0] "Solid match with some classic daredevil spots but the overall rating to this was hurt with the interference spots. ***1/4"

[7.0] "That was a good match, and Darby and Sammy worked well with each other, to the surprise of no one. It's a bit annoying that Anna Jay came to help Sammy yet again, but I guess that's one way to get heat with the crowd. The final GTH by Sammy looked lethal. 7/10"

[6.0] "A fine match but nowhere near their previous encounters. It would have been much better without all the interference from Tay."

[6.0] "You always expect a lot more from this level of fighters. Somehow it all came down to predictable movements and a lack of desire to surprise and really be remembered. This is probably their weakest match of a great series. Darby Allin again trivially loses the opportunity and these bummers are already infuriating me. Sammy even such distractions will not help to cope with Mox."

[9.0] "Not as amazing as their previous matches but I thought this was great. Sammy playing up the heel character to the hilt and Darby responding with crowd popping spots like diving right through the makeout session. Final spots were nuts, the powerbomb on the upsidedown skateboard was sick and Sammy pulls off his finisher beautifully."

[6.0] "A good TV match. Brutal finish with the skateboard powerbomb spot on Darby. Sammy builds some momentum before facing Moxley next week. This was what I expected and I understand they have much better matches previously and in the future."

"This match was just very average, I? ve seen this two put on much better. I? m getting more and more tired of sammy & Tay on screen at this point, I think less kissing during the matches could have helped this one."

[7.0] "Crowd obviously dead from Dynamite and Dark tapings, but overall good match. Sammy and Darby had some nice spots and the ending was also a good way of showing how much a villain Guevara is."

[7.0] "Really surprised at the very low rating this match gets because honestly I found it super entertaining, on the one hand I can understand why it's rated so low because it's clear that at this point Guevara really isn't anyone's cup of tea anymore but when you forget about all the drama surrounding him and just watch him perform in the ring you're immediately much more convinced by him. Loved his performance in this match, he did some flashy things as usual yes because that's what made him a success in the company anyway but he did some great character-work above all, for me he's an excellent heel and his pairing with Tay works perfectly on the screens. Loved Darby's comebacks too of course, the crowd was behind him. Sammy & Darby is always a duo that works between the ropes, fun opener and I can't wait to see Moxley vs Guevara in four days."

[5.0] "This match was not good. For two ultra talented guys, all of the shenanigans with Tay and Anna Jay destroyed any chance this match had of being decent. Personally I would rather see Sammy in mixed tag matches with Tay than seeing him in singles. He has go away heat right now."

[5.0] "I never was a great fan of their matches. One was good, the other(s) not so much. This is definitively skippable."

[5.0] "Not much of a match to be honest, and the ending made it worse. They've had better matches in the past, but Sammy seems to be going backwards and relying on interference to win a tournament match isn't great."

[6.0] "A disappointing chapter in the Allin/Guevara rivalry, with Anna Jay AS running in, goodness knows where Sting was. We'll probably get more Sports Entertainment BS next week against Jon Moxley."
